The ‘World War B’ Burger Goes Hard with the Bacon

With the Walking Dead season premier just days away, I figured some zombie-related foodporn was in order.

Zombie Burger in Des Moines, Iowa, is known for offering an array of dishes in tribute to the undead. We’ve seen such burgers as the Walking Ched burger and the Undead Hasselhoff burger. Now Zombie Burger has brought this crazy, bacon-stuffed burger back from the dead.

The World War B burger consists of four bacon strips, pulled bacon, baconnaise, bacon zombie sauce and cheddar cheese, over a non-bacon beef patty.

This burger has enough bacon to kill you and later come back to life as a zombie, just to eat it again.

The Undead Hasselhoff Burger Is Sexier Than ‘Baywatch’

You never know when David Hasselhoff will sneak his way into relevance again. You probably got a good chuckle when he made a casual appearance on “Sons of Anarchy” and tore up the stage for “America’s Got Talent.” Now he has risen from the ashes again in the form of a burger.

Zombie Burger in Des Moines, Iowa, has unleashed the “Undead Hasselhoff” on the world, and it is glorious.

A tribute to Hasselhoff, this German-inspired burger is filled with pretzel-breaded brats drenched in spicy mustard, beer Cheez Whiz and cheddar cheese.

If The Hoff were dead, he’d probably be turning over in his grave right now, reaching for this monstrosity to shove in his mouth.

Deep-Fried Mac & Cheese Burger Bun: Because Those Are Literally the Best Words Food Has to Offer

walking-ched (1)

Before we start, let’s review: I think we can all agree that in most, if not all aspects of life, there are things that are just better than others. Green is better than red. Hot is better than cold. Puppies are better than kittens. These, folks, are the facts of life. Similarly, in the food world, there are some things that make food — any food — better. Bacon, Sriracha, booze, peanut butter. The list goes on and on. And all of the things on Zombie Burger‘s Walking Ched burger are on that list. Iowa is doing everything right.

Think about it: It’s already a burger, so win. A double burger, wherein two patties equals a double win. It’s also a burger with bacon and cheese (with pasta, the best kind of cheese), so that’s another point in the right direction. If that weren’t enough for you, there’s probably something wrong with you. I’ll bet you eat salads on the reg. For everyone else, the best part: Instead of the traditional sesame seed bun, this burger is topped off by two ‘buns’ of deep-fried mac and cheese. Yes, that’s right. More mac and cheese for your burger, this time deep-fried.

What else is there in life? Really, I don’t want to miss out.

NOTE: The burger also has onions and mayo and whatever, but I was sold at ‘deep-fried mac and cheese.’ So, maybe I missed that other stuff. Sincerest apologies.

Zombie Food Truck Brings New Meaning to ‘Brain Food’

If London ever hosts the Olympics again, it can perform a tribute to Gory Gourmet’s unusual zombie-like menu during its unnecessary four-hour-long opening ceremony.

Mark Jankel, owner of the London-based Street Kitchen food truck, created this special zombie-themed food truck and hit the streets last week in honor of “The Walking Dead Season 2” release on DVD and Blu-Ray August 27.

This obviously isn’t what your elementary school teacher meant when they taught you about “brain food,” but it was probably the first thing that came to mind the first time you heard the term used.

The truck features the “Big Brain Burger,” “Crispy Brain Dippers,” a “Brain Salad Wrap,” and side orders consisting of “Feet and Thyroid Nuggets” and “Skewered Hearts.

For those wondering what the brains in these dishes are made up of, they are actual cow brains. That is the shock value that Jankel was looking to provide and it seemed to have worked as people flocked to the truck like zombies.

Cow brains as food might sound a little taboo to those who grew up watching shows like Fear Factor, but if you ever see“Sesos” offered at a Mexican taco truck, you’ve just found yourself a place to have a zombie-like dinner.

The Menu:

  • Big Brain Burger-

Cow brain with smoked mustard mayo, lettuce and cheese in a sesame seed bun.

  • Crispy Brain Dippers-

Crispy chunks of brain with barbecue sauce.

  • Brain Salad Wrap-

Crispy chunks of brain with wild rocket and tarragon mayo.

  • Feet and Thyroid Nuggets-

Nuggets of pig’s feet and cow thyroid with herb mayo.

  • Skewered Hearts-

Grilled beef heart skewers with horseradish mayo.
