Lay’s ‘Do Us a Flavor Winner’ Is Not Cappuccino

Many potato chip fans may remember a few months ago that four Frito-Lay’s test flavors hit the shelves. America snacked on them and snacked on them hard in order keep their favorite on the shelves. The finalists in the “Do Us a Flavor” competition were: Mango Salsa, Wasabi Ginger, Cappuccino and Bacon Mac & Cheese.

It looks like Wasabi Ginger came out on top as it was officially named the winner of the contest. Those of you who remember our taste test and prediction back in July now know that, yes, we called it. While we did enjoy Cappuccino more than the other two runners-up, we’re guessing everyone else didn’t.

USA Today reports that Meneko Spigner McBeth, the creator of Wasabi Ginger, was declared the winner on Monday at a dinner for the finalists. McBeth will receive either a year’s worth of Lay’s Wasabi Ginger sales or $1 million, whichever figure ends up higher. Not bad.

Of Course, ‘Maple Moose’ is the New Lay’s Chips Flavor

The syrup-soaked votes are in: “Maple Moose” triumphed as the winner of Lay’s Canada Do Us a Flavor contest. While the decision sparked some lowkey outrage on Facebook and a demand for a recount, the quirky pick managed to beat out Perogy Platter, Grilled Cheese & Ketchup, and Creamy Garlic Caesar.

The decision follows the announcement of the Cheesy Garlic Bread winner back in May here in the US. Although, the  folks up north may have gotten the short end of the stick, as many claim Maple Moose to be an abomination with a cheap taste similar to “pork n beans.”

Regardless, Maple Moose is set to hit shelves in Canada beginning late November and Tyler LeFrense of Newfoundland, the winner, will receive $50,000 (CAN) in addition to 1 percent of future Maple Moose sales.

Do You Have a Golden Ticket? Nestlé Pulls a Willy Wonka With New Campaign

Forget the Olympics, or the Diamond Jubilee- if there was ever a better time to visit the UK these days, this is it. Big time candy manufacturer, Nestlé has recently announced the launch of a new campaign where you could have a shot at winning 10,000 pounds! Or, for us Americans, roughly $16,254.00 (Thanks Google).

Dubbed the most unsettling, “We Will Find You” campaign- Nestlé has embedded GPS trackers into 6 of their candy bars, and if you unwrap one of the lucky ones, they will track you down within 24 hours like candy bounty hunters and award you the jackpot.

So if you live in, or plan on visiting the UK any time soon, channel your inner Charlie Bucket and start stock piling your Kit Kats (Or Kit Kat 4 Finger, Kit Kat Chunky, Aero Peppermint and Yorkie Milks). This could be the coolest or creepiest contest ever!
