Studio Ghibli’s Magical Anime Food Are Brought To Life On This Instagram Account

As all hardcore Hayao Miyazaki fans may know, the soft-spoken, creative genius is a big-time foodie. As evident throughout his popular films such as TotoroKiki’s Delivery Service, and Spirited Away, Miyazaki uses food to portray warmth and closeness between friends and family. His understanding of food as a source of comfort for many people allows the audience to build a connection with the characters. And if that isn’t enough, he always makes all the food look so damn good.

Those magical foods in your favorite Studio Ghibli films are now being brought to life by Instagrammer En93kitchen. Her dedication to recreate the entire experience, including the food and plating, as similar to the movie as possible is incredible, and it’s leaving us drooling.

I don’t know about you, but after these photos, I’m totally ready to cozy up to a Miyazaki film marathon while eating some Ponyo-inspired ramen.

This Stay at Home Mom Creates The Most Adorable Bentos You Ever Did See

We wish our mom was this cool. Singapore based stay-at-home mother, Li Ming, has been whipping up charabens, or character bentos, since 2011. She started packing these adorable lunches as a way to cheer up her older son when he started elementary school. Cue the “awws”.

Ming draws her lunch inspiration from video games, books, and even movies. Besides character bentos, she also makes character based dishes such as Totoro Cream Puffs, Bear Pizza, or even the Spam Pig Pita as seen below.

Almost to adorable to nom on, these insanely darling dishes can be made at home with Ming’s tutorials found on her website, Bento Monsters. Peep more of Ming’s cute creations below.

This is What Donut Sushi Looks Like

Summer’s here and for most people, that means sunbathing and swimming and going to the fair. But for those who appreciate the finer things in life, warmer temps and longer days really only mean one thing – Comic book conventions.

From the folks who brought us Donut Poutine and the Beer-Filled Donut, donut sushi is apparently real. Created for the Fanime anime convention by Psycho Donuts, “Psycho Psushi” features a bento box filled with four pieces of donut sushi and a pair of edible Pocky “chopsticks.”

First launched at Fanime in 2011, the Psycho Psushi will be also available alongside other pastry-fied Japanese dishes like Psycho Takoyaki (balls of ginger cake drizzled with shoyu caramel and toasted pistachio) and a Totoro donut.

Just make sure to eat the ginger between sushi, not on top of them.
