AMC Is Launching An Official WALKING DEAD Cookbook And Survival Guide

Love or hate the past few seasons of The Walking Dead, you have to appreciate the world they built over their seven-year run. While fans eagerly await for the premiere of the eithth season, AMC is giving them a little something to chew on to tide over their walker-loving appetites.

AMC has partnered up with Insight Editions to launch The Walking Dead: The Official Cookbook and Survival Guide.

Inside the cookbook are more than 60 recipes covering breakfast, dinner, drinks, and desserts. Some of the entries are taken straight from the television series such as Carol’s Peletier’s Cookies and Daryl’s Deer Stew.

Because a cookbook is useless if you don’t know how to survive in this new world, the book also features tips on hunting and foraging in the event we ever witness a zombie apocalypse.

The Walking Dead: The Official Cookbook and Survival Guide is scheduled to arrive at bookstores in October. The publisher stresses that no humans were harmed in the marking of this culinary resource.

To celebrate the return of this iconic show, Mountain Dew is helping AMC launch a unique augmented reality experience. By scanning specially marked bottles of Mountain Dew with an app, you can interact with walkers in real life. These experiences can then be shared on social media.

If you’re interested in this AR experience, you simply need to download the required app, already available for both iOS and Android. From there, 20 oz. single-serve bottles and 12-pack 12 oz. bottles marked with The Walking Dead labels can be scanned with the app. Additionally, Mountain Dew commercials that air during episodes of the show this season will also provide opportunities to unlock new walkers.

The walkers can be found on bottles of Mountain Dew, Mountain Dew Black, and Diet Mountain Dew. They will arrive in stores soon if not there already. Thus, if you’re looking for an opportunity to mess around with some walkers early, check this cool AR experience out. It’s a fun way to pass the time until the show returns in late October.

This Zombie Inspired Beer is Made With Actual Brains

Zombie Beer

Every Sunday night loyal fans of AMC’s The Walking Dead can usually be found drowning their sorrows in booze whilst sobbing over the loss of yet another beloved character. Of course, it was just a matter of time before someone decided to pay homage to the popular show but Dock Street Brewing Co. may have just taken this zombie trend to the next level.

The brainchild of by Head Brewer Justin Low and Brewery Representative Sasha Certo-Ware, the aptly named “Dock Street Walker” beer is an American Pale Stout that is brewed with…wait for it…real brains.

Before you freak out and grab your zombie survival kit don’t worry, it’s not human brains it’s just smoked goat brains. Did we mention the brew is also made with organic cranberries to get that perfectly bloody hue? Dock Street Walker is 7.2% alcohol by volume so after knocking back a few don’t be surprised if you end up dragging yourself around like a walker on the prowl.

In honor of The Walking Dead’s season finale Dock Street Walker will make its debut on tap at Dock Street Brewing Co. on March 30. If you happen to be in the West Philly area have a brainy brewski for us, we’ll just have to celebrate at home with these zombie jello shots. Unnngggghhhhh.

Food Trucks

Zombie Food Truck Brings New Meaning to ‘Brain Food’

If London ever hosts the Olympics again, it can perform a tribute to Gory Gourmet’s unusual zombie-like menu during its unnecessary four-hour-long opening ceremony.

Mark Jankel, owner of the London-based Street Kitchen food truck, created this special zombie-themed food truck and hit the streets last week in honor of “The Walking Dead Season 2” release on DVD and Blu-Ray August 27.

This obviously isn’t what your elementary school teacher meant when they taught you about “brain food,” but it was probably the first thing that came to mind the first time you heard the term used.

The truck features the “Big Brain Burger,” “Crispy Brain Dippers,” a “Brain Salad Wrap,” and side orders consisting of “Feet and Thyroid Nuggets” and “Skewered Hearts.

For those wondering what the brains in these dishes are made up of, they are actual cow brains. That is the shock value that Jankel was looking to provide and it seemed to have worked as people flocked to the truck like zombies.

Cow brains as food might sound a little taboo to those who grew up watching shows like Fear Factor, but if you ever see“Sesos” offered at a Mexican taco truck, you’ve just found yourself a place to have a zombie-like dinner.

The Menu:

  • Big Brain Burger-

Cow brain with smoked mustard mayo, lettuce and cheese in a sesame seed bun.

  • Crispy Brain Dippers-

Crispy chunks of brain with barbecue sauce.

  • Brain Salad Wrap-

Crispy chunks of brain with wild rocket and tarragon mayo.

  • Feet and Thyroid Nuggets-

Nuggets of pig’s feet and cow thyroid with herb mayo.

  • Skewered Hearts-

Grilled beef heart skewers with horseradish mayo.
