Stranger Things-Inspired Waffles Are Taking LA to The Upside Down

Photo: Wafflejack

In honor of Stranger Things’ impending third season, Los Angeles-based waffle shop Wafflejack is rolling out two new themed waffles from June 29th to July 14th.

The first, aptly named the “Eleven Waffle” after the show’s Eggo waffle-obsessed main character, has one scoop each of vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry ice cream, raspberries, bananas, blackberries, strawberries, both caramel and Nutella drizzle, and rainbow sprinkles.

The second, the “Demogorgon Feast,” comes stacked with an Oreo cheesecake spread, strawberries, Oreo cookie crumble, strawberry drizzle and Nutella drizzle.

Wafflejack joins other brands, such as Baskin Robbins and Burger King, in celebrating the show’s new season.

Not one to be outdone, Wafflejack has also made some changes to their packaging. Their usual beard graphic that appears above a pair of lips on each waffle sleeve has been swapped out for a nosebleed graphic to represent Eleven’s recurring nosebleeds in the show.

If you’re in LA and a fan of Stranger Things, or maybe just a fan of nosebleeds, go make Eleven proud and get your hands on Wafflejack’s newest creation.

Burger King Launching A Limited ‘Upside Down Whopper’ In Honor Of Stranger Things

Burger King has flipped the script on its classic Whopper in honor of the upcoming season of Netflix’s Stranger Things.

The not-so-mysterious sandwich is exactly what you thought it would be, which is a straight up Upside Down Whopper, available in select locations Friday, June 21.

They didn’t build it with the Whopper ingredients stacked in a crazy order. They didn’t try to get you with any mind tricks, or freaky Whopper illusions. It’s literally just a regular Whopper, but flipped on its head, which you can do on your own with any Whopper.

I guess the intrigue comes from the Stranger Things-labeled wrapper that covers the Whopper, along with Stranger Things print on the drink cups, seeing how Coca-Cola is in on this collab.

They’ve also temporarily changed their name to “Stranger King” on all their social media platforms, which is at least strong commitment to the promotion.

The Upside Down Whopper will technically only be available at 11 Burger King locations across the country, but if you’re savvy enough, you can probably figure out how to make one on your own. For die-hard fans, the draw is trying to snag some Stranger Things/BK merch, like shirts, pins and and crowns.

If you want to celebrate the new season with burgers and merch, head to one of the Burger King locations below.

All The ‘Stranger Things’ Foods To Eat At Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights

Halloween is less than two months away, and I for one am chomping away like a famished zombie for the brains of the spooky season.

This year, in honor of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things, Universal Studios is offering up dishes inspired by the ’80s phenomenon at both their Hollywood and Orlando locations.

The menu was created by each park’s executive chef and culinary teams to compliment the enthralling experience of this year’s Halloween Horror Nights. Each park will also feature an entirely new maze for guests to experience the terror of the Upside Down inspired by the first season of the show.

Behold, Universal’s Stranger Things menu. If you’re looking to try them, or experience the ghoulishness of Halloween Horror Nights, the event begins Friday September 14 at both parks.

The Upside Down Burger

Inspired by the Upside Down dimension, this burger is loaded with spicy queso and crushed Flamin’ Hot Cheetos on a potato roll. Guests can enjoy this hearty take on the dark realm with a side of tater tots.

Demogorgon’s Totcho

The show’s season one villain, the Demogorgan, haunted our dreams well into the second season. These inspired tater tot nachos, piled with spicy queso, chili, sour cream, and Flamin’ Hot Cheetos, are worthy of anyone with a monstrous appetite.

Eleven’s Waffle Extravaganza

If there’s one thing Eleven loves, it’s Eggo Waffles. Eleven’s Waffle Extravaganza stacks three Eggos with a layer of whipped cream and topped with candies like Reese’s Pieces, jelly beans, and chocolate chips.

Benny’s Burgers

A classic burger named after the gruff diner owner with a heart of gold, who takes Eleven in after she escapes Hawkins Lab. These juicy patties are served on potato rolls with a side of tater tots.

Benny’s Chicken and Waffle Sandwich

Another ode to the beloved Benny, this Chicken and Waffle Sandwich features grilled chicken served sweet and sour onions, sage-maple aioli, all between two Eggo Waffles. If I’m a sucker for anything, it’s chicken and waffles.

Fudge Dipped Waffle On A Stick

When you’re being chased down by inter dimensional monsters, you don’t really have much time to sit down to a meal. These Fudge Dipped Waffles on a Stick let you take your sweet snack on the go as you’re running from Demogorgons and other creatures of the night.

Waffle Ice Cream Pocket Sundae

For the guest who loves waffles a la mode, this pocket sundae puts an Upside Down spin on the dessert. Two chocolate chip waffles are stuffed with strawberry ice cream and topped with chocolate sauce, caramel sauce, sprinkles, and whipped cream.

Triple Decker Extravaganza

Triple Decker Extravaganza is Universal Studios Orlando’s version of the aforementioned Eleven’s Waffle Extravaganza. Essentially a dessert lasagna, layers of whipped cream and candy are inserted between beds of Kellogg’s Eggo Waffles.

Syrup & Waffles

It wouldn’t be a Stranger Things menu without tons of waffle items. This refreshing take Eleven’s favorite food features a blend of non-alcoholic syrup flavors that are topped with whipped cream and tiny waffles. Perfect to keep you cool and satisfy those maple cravings.

Christmas Tree Lights Cupcakes

Christmas lights played a major role in the first season of the series as a medium for Joy Byers to communicate with her missing son Will. At Universal Studios Orlando, Christmas lights also play a major role in communicating with my sweet tooth in these jelly bean topped cupcakes.

11 Mini Donuts

Eleven’s telekinetic powers often led to nosebleeds the more she exerted herself. The 11 Mini Donuts are coated in powdered sugar and topped with red frosting inspired by those nosebleeds. Is it weird to want to try one — or three?

Pepperoni and Sausage Pizza

Fans will remember in an early episode that fan-favorite Dustin once offered his crush Nancy Byers a slice of pizza topped with sausage and pepperoni. Guests can’t go wrong with a savory slice featuring two of our favorite pizza toppings.

Benny’s Burgers

Universal Orlando will also feature a Benny’s Burgers locations where guests can sit down to a variety of burgers and chicken sandwiches.

Recreate Iconic TV Show Kitchens Using These Computer Rendered Floor Plans

We’ve all dreamed of living in the worlds of our favorite TV shows. Many of them took place in homes or apartments, so one of the more realistic ways to feel like part of the show would be to remodel our kitchens. Those on shows like Friends, Stranger Things, and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air have become iconic because of how integral they were to the plot and setting, whether we realized it or not.

If you want to step into the fictional realm through your kitchen, check out the floor plans to some of the more memorable ones below. Sketched by website Home Advisors, these would be great mock-ups to take to a home designer/contractor if you really want to make the remodel happen. There’s no telling just how much these would cost to recreate in your home/apartment, but how legit would it be to host the squad in one of these TV show kitchens?

tv show kitchens

Monica’s kitchen is easily one of the most memorable in TV, but it would also be tough to recreate at home. The difficulty would be that oddly-designed cabinet with a shelf right above the stove. It may seem simple enough in the above design, but those top shelves are pretty high up. Imagine having to grab spices or other cooking supplies from up there all the time.

The Big Bang Theory

To be honest, I’ve never seen anything outside of scrambled eggs made in this kitchen. But it’s still pretty spacious and simple to construct, so if you’re a huge fan of Sheldon Cooper, this could be a fun project to start on soon. No bowel movement calendar on the fridge required.

The Handmaid’s Tale

The gloom of the kitchen here matches the menace that is Commander Fred. It’s a very simple kitchen, with not much in terms of intricate designs or fancy cabinets. That makes it easy to recreate at home, but the colors may be a little to drab for some people’s taste.

New Girl

This kitchen may be a little more meant for TV than real life, especially with the shelves of cereal boxes hanging above the fridge. However, the large island in the middle is a nice touch that can make for both a kitchen/dining table and a gathering area for your squad mates.

Mad Men

Mad Men is set in the 1960s, so it’s obvious that this kitchen would come with quite a bit of nostalgia. Having the kitchen prep and cooking areas set in the middle of the kitchen could also make for an awesome studio or video setting, for those of you that like to shoot recipe videos.

Malcolm in the Middle

You’re probably not going to need two dining tables (although the second table was mainly used for studying/homework on the show). But the spacious kitchen is quite intriguing to those who like to cook with a bit of show and flash. Guess that could work for me and my love of flambe.

Stranger Things

Joyce’s kitchen from the show honestly isn’t that strange, especially for the 1980s. However, I would like to know where you get those camo-print chairs, which are definitely the odd ball out in this otherwise typical kitchen setting.

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air

This is definitely the kitchen of the bourgeois, and is fitting for a place like Bel-Air. There’s tons of counter space for all different kinds of cooking activities, and the stove is on an island, meaning you can show off or just sit right next to where you cooked, eliminating a need for serving up to a bunch of people. This remodel would undoubtedly be on the more expensive end, but with all that open space and the ability to rock the Fresh Prince theme in the Fresh Prince kitchen, why not go for it?

Netflix’s Cease-And-Desist Letter To ‘Stranger Things’ Bar Is The Best Thing We’ve Read All Week

The new season of Stranger Things is a little more than a month away and we’re stoked. Netflix’s hit series has gained an overwhelming amount of traction since it premiered in 2016. Now with the much-anticipated second season debuting a few days before Halloween, an unauthorized Stranger Things pop-up bar is in for a bit of a scare.

According to DNAinfo, a Chicago Bar was transformed a while back into the Upside Down – the spooky, scary parallel dimension from the show. The pop-up opened on Aug. 18 and is set to run through Oct. 1.

Unfortunately, any plans for them to go beyond the six-week period were squashed by Netflix. The two gentlemen behind the popular pop-up received this letter from the entertainment company’s legal team.

Netflix Letter 'Stranger Things' Pop-Up Bar by Mina Bloom on Scribd

Arguably one of the funniest cease-and-desist letters we’ve seen in our years. It’s nice to see that Netflix has a bit of humor regarding the pop-up. If you happen to be in the Chicago area and haven’t had a chance to visit the Upside Down, be sure to do so before Oct. 1.

Vintage Eggos Spot Turned Into The Epic ‘STRANGER THINGS’ Season 2 Teaser

Last night, during the Super Bowl, we were surprised to find an old Eggos commercial show up during the middle of the Big Game. Seconds later, the vintage scene at the breakfast table cut away and we knew what was about to happen.

It was the Stranger Things season 2 spot.

The hit Netflix series premiere its phenomenal first season on July 15, 2016, and for those of us who binged the whole thing in a day, we were left anxious to see how Eleven and the gang of lovable misfits would carry on into the next season. The Eggos opening is a reference to Eleven who developed quite the addition to the frozen breakfast item during the first season.

Now, like a plate of Eggos straight from the toaster, we had a sweet taste of what’s to come this fall.

Brayden Curtis, the mind behind the Foodbeast Katchup and admirer of meatball subs, had this to say upon viewing:

This will get me through the year.

You and me both, pal.

Check out the mind-blowing teaser for the upcoming season above which will premiere Halloween 2017. As if we needed another reason to love the candy-slingin’ holiday.

This Year’s Top Costume Is Stranger Things’ Eleven & Her Eggo Waffles

Halloween falling on a Monday means that a lot of costumes made their debut this past weekend. The most popular one, it seems, is the breakout character of Netflix’s Stranger Things: Eleven.

Eleven, also knowns as El, is a young girl with psychokinetic abilities that escapes from a government facility and befriends a group of young boys looking for their missing friend. Along the way, they teach her things about the outside world.

Her experience leads her to discover a love for Eggo Waffles, the popular frozen breakfast item found in practically every grocery store in the country.

With the popularity of Netflix’s show spreading like wildfire, it was only a matter of time before people started dressing up as the characters for conventions and Halloween.

Check out some creative takes on El this year. In the meantime, we’re gonna see if we can hunt down a box of Eggos.

Feedback: Top User Comments Of The Week [Oct. 7]

Welcome to another edition of our weekly Foodbeast “Feedback,” where we feature your Facebook comments, and respond directly to your views on our recipes and stories.

The week was wild, and full of some crazy food stories, and your comments were just as crazy, per usual.

We saw a guy’s questionable move to smoke the world’s hottest pepper out of a bong, and even some cool horror-themed Happy Meal concepts. You guys responded to our stories through Facebook, and now it’s our turn to respond back.

We always appreciate that you read our posts, and take the time to add your own commentary.

Here’s what made the cut this week. Think you can make next week’s list?

STORY:McDonald’s ‘Horror Happy Meal’ Concepts Would Scare The Crap Out Of Children

I’d like to think that McDonald’s isn’t as scary as you make it out to be. I can’t be certain, but I want to believe I haven’t been eating anything sketchy at the Golden Arches. Fingers crossed. I’m putting my trust in them. In my heart of hearts. Yeah, I’ll just leave it at that.

Story: Whisky-Flavored Pocky Sticks Are The Latest Snacks From Japan

We hadn’t thought of Bill Murray, but that’s a nice Lost in Translation reference that we missed out on. Bill Murray should have shot the ad for their Whisky Pocky, but there’s a chance he’d get yelled at by the Japanese director.

Story: Taco Bell Has Low Key Become One of America’s Healthiest Fast Food Chains

That’s a good question, Jamerson. If I were to take a guess, I’d say people might be sensitive to the hot sauce, which could ring true for anything. I doubt our stomachs care too much for being doused in a fiery liquid. I don’t know. Just a guess, but now I want to find out for sure.

STORY: Watch These Guys Throw The World’s Hottest Peppers On Hot Cheetos And Eat Them

“Dumb asses way too much hotness.”

I say the same thing when trying to watch Keeping Up With the Kardashians.

Story: This Is What Happens When You Smoke The World’s Hottest Pepper

I’m 74 percent sure this comment has some copypasta to it, but still rings true. This guy has to be the dumbest person of the week. At least he didn’t chop up the pepper and snort it.

Story:Watch These Families Start A Massive Brawl At A Chuck E. Cheese’s

Hopefully none of the Chuck E. Cheese’s workers tried to stop the brawl, because they really don’t get paid enough to be peacekeepers. Their best move was probably just to call the police and watch the madness, hoping they don’t have too much to clean after.

Story:Here Are Some Of The Weird Things Starving College Kids Eat And Rarely Enjoy

Like the great DJ Khaled would say, “You smart. You very smart.” Solid strategy for staying away from these college struggle plates.
