How To Get 50-Cent Corn Dogs At Sonic This Halloween

Halloween is here and while you’re out on your spooky adventure, dodging murderous clowns and collecting candy, you’re gonna get hungry. Sonic has your back with 50 cent corn dogs all day. Since the drive-in chain is open late, that literally means they’ll have the corn dogs deal all day. Well, unless they run out, then you’re dead ass out of luck, my guy. I called in to my local Sonic and they said there’s no limit, so I’m taking that as gospel and getting 100 corn dogs later.

Who:  Sonic Drive-In

What: 50 cent corn dogs, no limit

When: All day Monday, Halloween, 2016

Where: All participating Sonic Drive-Ins

Why: Because you need to balance out the spookiness of the day with cheap food

FIRST LOOK: New Toffee Nut Latte and Toffee Nut Ice Blended from Coffee Bean (and a $1 Open House)

CB&TL Toffee Nut

Few coffee shops capture the utter bipolarness of a Southern California winter better than The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf. Their newest seasonal offerings, a Toffee Nut Latte and Toffee Nut Ice Blended, are perfect examples of the 50-year- old chain’s SoCal roots. Available hot or cold, you can enjoy yours either bundled up in a peacoat and infinity scarf, or out on a sunny patio waiting for your yoga class.

Starting this week, CB&TL released its winter line of beverages, bringing back its popular Red Velvet Hot Cocoa, Peppermint Mocha, and Winter Dream Tea Lattes, and introducing the faintly butterscotch-flavored Toffees. We were invited to a Coffee Bean location in Los Angeles yesterday to preview the spread before the chain’s Holiday Open House this Thursday, November 7 from 2 to 6 pm at all participating locations. Each 12-ounce holiday drink will be available for only $1, with proceeds going to The Help Group, a charity for children with learning disabilities.

CB&TL - Holiday 2013 - Promo Horizontal

Check out a few of our photos from the tasting below:

Neither too bitter nor too sweet, CB&TL’s Red Velvet Hot Cocoa is perfect for kids or adults looking to get their Rudolph on.

Very chocolate-forward, the Peppermint Mocha was my least favorite of the bunch, but would probably be greatly improved by a sriracha candy cane stirrer.

The Winter Dream Tea Latte is your basic chai, remixed with extra oomph. Cinnamon comes off a bit strong though.

Pro-tip: get the Toffee Nut Latte for a subtley-sweet hit of butterscotch, and the Ice Blended version for something a bit more vibrant. Both were perfectly nutty and caramelly, though, and excellent alternatives to all the pumpkin-this, peppermint-that, and salted caramel-everything else.

Gratuitous topographical shot.

We also tried a few of their pastries: a maple scone, lemon-coconut cake, and the “World’s Best Coffee Cake.” Nothing too noteworthy there, except that they were all surprisingly moist, and are made locally every morning and shipped to each CB&TL location.

Tuscan Chicken Melt and Spicy Italian are Subway’s Featured Footlongs for October

Copywriters have got to be the smartest people in the world. Have I been to Tuscany? No. Do I even know if Tuscany has good food? No. Frankly, I probably couldn’t even find Tuscany on a map with the help of a cute Italian exchange student. However, am I still convinced Subway’s featured Tuscan Chicken Melt sandwich tastes like sunshine and vineyards and romance?

Previously available as a limited time offering late last year, the Tuscan Chicken Melt is now Subway’s $6 Footlong special for October. Also available as a salad, the TCM features herb-seasoned grilled chicken, topped with your choice of cheese and vinaigrette.

Following along Subway’s newfound Italy-boner is the Spicy Italian sandwich, October’s $5 Footlong, which is stuffed with Genoa salami and pepperoni and available on the chain’s not-contaminated new garlic bread.

Bonus points: at least we won’t have to worry about vampires this Halloween.

There’s also a featured Chicken Cordon Bleu Melt, but that one doesn’t have a pricing special and won’t ward off legions of the undead, sadly.

Meatball Marinara is Subway’s $5 Footlong for May

Presumably, because like the name of the month, “Meatball Marinara” also starts with “M.” So in celebration, let’s come with a list of every “M” word we can think of.

Mayonnaise, macaron, manly, malodorous, mnemonic, morgue, metacrisis, mime, muse, My (Little Pony), mercy, march, make, monkey, mucus, mullet, magnificent, mull, munchkin, mast, masticate, master, mate, mascara, martini, mile, muster, magnet, moo . . .

Subway’s Meatball Marinara features “Italian style meatballs drenched in irresistible marinara sauce, served on freshly baked bread,” $5 for any 12-inch sub throughout the month of May.

McDonald’s Japan Is Giving Away Free Shampoo with Breakfast

The next time you’re a hardworking Japanese businessman taking a break from your marathon workweek to grab some breakfast from Mickey D’s, rest assured knowing the Golden Arches have totally got you covered. No longer will you or your coworkers have to suffer the lingering stench of your 72-hour lack of shower, because now you can lather up your Big Mac with a side of free shampoo.

Throughout April, McDonald’s Japan will be offering its pre-11 a.m. (well technically pre-9 a.m.) customers a choice of chewing gum, skin cream, Sprite or L’Oreal shampoo, free with every breakfast set purchase, though the gift changes depending on the date.

Check out the line-up below as provided by Rocket News:

  • April 8: Recaldent Blooming Mint-flavour chewing gum
  • April 15: L’Oreal Elseve shampoo
  • April 22: Pouches of Uno and Elixir-branded skin cream
  • April 29: A 350ml can of Sprite.

Now, why anyone would want a can of Sprite instead of just grabbing it from the soda fountain is beyond me (is there a secret Japanese hair care regime built around lemon-lime soda?), but knowing that if worst comes to worst, I’ll be able to wash my hair with L’Oreal while waiting for my Chicken McNuggets to come out is definitely a plus.

Just one question: Can I super-size it?
