WORLD CUP: Angry South Koreans Chuck Toffees at National Soccer Team

Although most people would love to be showered with candy, South Korea’s National Soccer Team took the flying sweets with melancholy when they returned from Brazil. While lining up for photographs from their fans at the Incheon airport, the team was greeted by an onslaught of toffee candies after a poor performance at the World Cup.

The reason behind the toffees is that the phrase “Go eat a toffee” is considered an insult in Korea. It’s similar to “Screw you” or “Get Lost.” Dozens of toffee candies were thrown at the down-on-their-luck team. At least they were wrapped though. Because ants.

In what is said to be Asia’s worst World Cup performance in 24 years, the team grabbed one point in a series of three matches. South Korea joined Japan, Iran and Australia in an early trip back home from Brazil.

Big Red Combines BBQ and Soda in One Magnificent Bottle, Because This is Murrica

I never thought I’d say this, but after watching this video from Big Red Soda, I kind of want to go live in the South for a while. The soda well known for its red color and unique bubblegum-like taste, is now looking to create a new fan base by implementing BBQ to their flavor palettes. No, I’m not talking about BBQ soda, because that’d be ridiculous.

More like, BBQ and soda served in the same bottle. Yep that’s right. You can now enjoy cool, refreshing soda and savory, delicious barbecue all in one convenient package. Known as the Big Red BBQ Bottle, these ingenious beauties will be available in Big Red and brisket or Big Red Zero and chicken.

I gotta say, Big Red truly is Deliciously Different.

Now whether or not their viral video is real or it’s just a clever marketing scheme remains to be seen. (We’re guessing the latter.) But since its release Big Red’s Facebook page has been blowing up with reactions to the Big Red Bottle. But watch the video yourselves, Foodbeasts, and decide whether or not you think this is really gonna happen.

Me? I’m already looking for excuses to get time off to head to the South. . . just in case.

Channel Your Inner Southern Spirit with These Sweet Tea Moonshine Cupcakes

You guys, I just really need a typewriter, like right now.

I don’t know what it is, but something about these Sweet Tea Moonshine Cupcakes by Stef over at the Cupcake Project just fills my imagination with all things Prohibition-Era South – you know, sprawling estates, courtly Southern manners, bootleg distilleries. And while I don’t have a clue if any of those things even really existed in the P.E.S., I am a sucker for a good bout of drunken writing, especially when done on a perfectly old, perfectly beat-up typewriter. Sigh.

But I digress. Cupcakes, wasn’t it?

Perfect for late night walks around the plantation or out by the bayou (or I guess, just around the neighborhood, if you’re into that), these scrumptious little darlings feature something called “tea butter” and a whole 1/2 cup of Strawberry Midnight Moon. I’d bet it tastes so good, it must be illegal.
