Lay’s Debuts New Flavors Including ‘NASHVILLE HOT CHICKEN’

It’s been a minute since Lay’s dropped some new flavors on us, and with many avid snackers staying indoors these last few months any new variety is more than welcome.

The new line of Lay’s Potato Chip flavors all follow a restaurant-inspired theme. These include Carnitas Street Tacos (inspired by El Torito), Philly Cheesesteak (inspired by Geno’s Steaks), New York Style Pizza (inspired by Grimaldi’s), Chile Relleno (inspired by Cocina Azul), and Nashville Hot Chicken (inspired by Party Fowl).

Immediately after hearing the flavor list, my mind started wondering which of these flavors pair best dunked in some cold ranch dressing. Probably the hot chicken and pizza.

Those interested in checking out these new flavors will be able to find them launching at the end of July in participating grocery snack aisles. The Chile Relleno, however, will be exclusive to Walmart and 7-Eleven locations.

Pringles x Wendy’s Collab Introduces Limited-Edition BACONATOR Chips

In an unexpected move, Pringles has partnered with sassy fast food burger chain Wendy’s to create a line of limited edition chips based off of the ever-popular menu item: The Baconator.

Pringles new Baconator Chips is said to boast just that, the taste of its namesake.

For those unfamiliar, the Baconator is made with a half pound of beef, American cheese, Applewood smoked bacon, ketchup, and mayonnaise. The idea was to capture the flavors of the iconic Wendy’s sandwich while making it as accessible as reaching into your pantry.

Looking forward to getting my hands on a can and seeing if this rings true.

You can find the new flavor of Pringles now at participating retailer snack food aisles nationwide for a limited time. Wonder if Pringles plans on collaborating with other fast food brands in the near future? Would love to see a Filet-O-Fish can in the future.

Salmon Skin Chips Are Here, Would You Try Them?

goodfish

Growing up, pork rinds were a popular snack. My mother, vehemently anti-pork, would never buy them, but on a rare occasion, I’d steal a munch from a relative or friend. Even now, I recall the salty crunch, and how quick they mysteriously evaporate in your mouth. Those are good memories, yet with age, I became more conscious of my diet and as a result, haven’t had a chicharron in years. With that said, pork skins are still wildly popular.

In today’s “alternative world,” social media has spurred entrepreneurship which in turn has fueled innovation across industries. As health consciousness grows and alternative “everything’s” are popping up weekly, a pork rind alternative was inevitable.

goodfish

New upstart snack brand Goodfish is that answer. It’s the aquatic alternative to pork rinds and is made with wild caught Alaskan Salmon from Bristol Bay. These fish skins are packed with clean protein, good omega fats and marine collagen. Goodfish aims to give you all the nutrients, with none of the sluggishness carbs cause. They come in four flavors; Sea Salt, Spicy BBQ, Chili Lime and the oddly curious Tart Cranberry.

I don’t know about ya’ll, but these sound pretty fire to me. They have a lighter crisp but still deliver on the salty savoriness. I can’t call the tart cranberry though. Would you try these as a healthier alternative to pork rinds? Possibly a replacement?

If you’re interested in doing a deep dive, you can find Goodfish at your local retailer here.

Pringles Launches Limited-Edition SWEET CORN Can

One of the many staples of a proper summer barbecue is some sweet and buttery corn on the cob. While many of us may not be barbecuing outside anytime soon, that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy those flavors from the comfort of our homes.

Some needed corn comfort now arrives in the form of a Pringles can. That’s right, the newest Pringles flavor is Sweet Corn.

The chip boasts the sweet and salty flavor of fresh corn, cooked corn, and creamy butter all fused into a crispy bite. Apparently those who have already tried it say it really does taste like sweet corn on the cob — a fantastic sign for any chip that’s flavored after their namesake.

Need to cop a can or too ASAP. Freakin’ love corn.

You can pick up Pringles new Sweet Corn cans now at participating Walgreens locations nationwide while supplies last.

Uncrustables Makes Taco Sandwiches Now, Here’s What It Tastes Like

Not too long ago, my wife and I stocked up on a ton of Uncrustables Chocolate-flavored Hazelnut Spread to last us a few months while we worked remotely. Since she’s allergic to peanuts, this was the only form of Uncrustables she could finally try. Turns out the Smucker’s brand goes much further beyond PB&J crustless sandwiches.

Foodbeast Costa spotted a variety of different savory offerings that Uncrustables appears to recently have dropped at Target. One of which was something called Taco Bites.

As you can see from the packaging, it includes beef crumble, cheese, salsa, and taco seasoning encased in a crust-less vessel of bread.

Here’s what Costa had to say about the new item, after picking up a pack for himself:

“So the Uncrustables come in packs of two, each one is about the size of a Hawaiian roll or a White Castle slider,” he said. “They microwave in 40 seconds. They’re not super super cheesy and not super spicy either, more of a savory taco meat bite. Pretty easy quick snack to heat up, but also looks very different to what you’d expect when you hear the word ‘Uncrustables’ which, to me, is a large bread pocket of PB & J.”

Each box comes with three packs of two Taco Bites, six in total. You can find them at participating Target locations.

“I could eat those, but I don’t think I’d want to,” my wife tells me, after showing this to her. I mean, give it a shot babe. Costa did.

Skittles Premieres New Sour Skittles-Infused Ice Cream Bars

As spring transitions to summer, so too do snack cravings. Gone are the big bags of sweets that are to be devoured under three blankets while watching movies. It’s time for ice cream. But, as we sit in the in-between period of the change — too hot for a sweater, but not hot enough for a t-shirt— a cravings crisis begins to form. Much like choosing an outfit, choosing the appropriate snack can be a downright challenge.

Enter, Crazy Sour Skittles Coolers, the hybrid ice cream-candy.

The new treat is the latest in the candy’s ice cream bars, the first of which dropped last February. The premise remains the same: deliver the Skittles experience, but make it ice cream. Except now, the humble Sour Skittle is the star of the show.

This is accomplished by dipping a fruit-flavored, Skittles-infused ice cream bar in a “sour fruit sorbet.”

The results can be seen on the Instagram page @newfoodsuk, who reported the find at an Iceland Foods supermarket.

The response to the account’s post were, unsurprisingly, mixed. But, it’s hard to imagine ice cream and candy not being good together (or at least good enough to try) so this seems like an easy move for candy fiends.

Unfortunately, this is a UK-only product, so any stateside Skittles fanatics will have to find something else to fulfill their cravings.

I’m sorry, Marshawn

Biscoff KitKats Exist, I Repeat, Biscoff KitKats Do Exist

Photo: Nestlé / Lotus Biscoff

Hands down, Biscoff cookies are in my top five best cookies of all time category. Similarly, Kit Kats are pretty classic. Knowing that, picture the droolfest from the news of both brands fusing into the super snack that is BisKats or Kitcoffs. I’m joking of course, because Biscoff KitKats is the official name of this tastiness. Sadly, I wish I could say, “you can find the tastiness here in America,” but you can’t. Biscoff KitKats are only available in the Middle East and a few select UK locations.

The collaboration features Biscoff’s signature buttery spread paired with KitKat’s crunchy wafer and chocolate. Originally only available in Saudi Arabia and Dubai, the sweet news has spread like wildfire and Biscoff KitKats has begun traveling with it. The UK was just the first stop so there’s only a matter of time before it lands stateside (fingers crossed). This Facebook post about it has over 16k comments alone. The excitement is palpable. I believe the Biscoff KitKat has the potential to be bigger than even Green Tea KitKat. That’s right, I said it.

In the meantime, until North America is blessed with this treat, I suppose the next best thing would be to go grab some Biscoff spread and a pack of KitKats from the store and have a party.
