Restaurant Scales Burritos Next to Babies, Gives New Meaning to ‘Food Baby’

baby burrito Gorditos

Ever wondered how ginormous burritos really are? Easy — just measure them with this new baby scale created by Gorditos, a “healthy Mexican food” joint in Seattle. An entire wall in the store is devoted to pictures of various customers’ babies sized up against some hefty, ripping-at-the-tortilla-seams burritos.

So, next time your friend groans and rubs her “food baby” after a gut-busting meal, you might want to take her seriously.

Burrito supposedly means “little donkey” in Spanish, so we’re curious if any restaurants compare their fare to actual baby donkeys. One can only dream . . .

Touch Sensitive Digital Kitchen Scale

At a distance, it may look like an iPad with a really, really impressive 3D display (showcasing the new strawberry app in the featured photo), but I assure you, it is not. A more extensive look reveals that we’re looking at a touch sensitive, professional digital kitchen scale with a sleek tempered glass and a black finish.

The unit features advanced touch sensitive buttons for operation, and a lrge LCD screen that displays weights in pounds, kilograms, grams, and ounces. Utilizing 4 high precision GFX sensors, the Ozeri Touch Digital Kitchen Scale boasts “accurate measurements from 0.1 to 11 lbs.”

If math and unit conversions aren’t your strong suits, this bad boy might be just the kitchen tool you’ve been missing. The tablet measures 9.1 x 0.6 x 5.9 inches and weighs 1 pound, all while running on 2 Lithium ion batteries. ($32.95 @ Amazon)

I first heard about this product after seeing it displayed for sale at a big name electronic store, and I was mesmerized at what I thought it did.
