Burger King Adds New Impossible Foods Breakfast Croissan’wich To Menus

Photo: Constantine Spyrou

Burger King just launched a new breakfast item that’s expanding their meatless menu options to a more sustainable alternative. This comes in the form of the Impossible Croissan’wich.

This new Croissan’wich sandwich features a vegan patty made from Impossible Foods’ sausage.

Burger King’s new item boasts eggs, melted American cheese, and a seasoned sausage that’s composed of plant-based Impossible Foods squared away within a flaky croissant vessel.

It should be noted, however, that the sandwich itself is far from vegan. Neither the eggs, nor cheese are plant-based. We’re also pretty sure there’s butter in the croissant as well. Fans have already taken to the chain’s social accounts suggesting an all-vegan version would sell much more.

However, this could be a step towards sustainability within fast food especially when it comes to the scarcity of meat these days.

The Impossible Croissan’wich is available nationwide now at participating Burger King locations. BK is also giving away up to 100,000 free Impossible Croissan’wich sandwiches to any late-night diners through their app to with the minimum of $1 purchase.

Al Pastor-Style SPAM Tacos Is The Hack You MUST Try At Home

If you look hard enough, you can probably find a can of SPAM lying somewhere in your house. One of the most time-friendly — and tasty — proteins that you can easily cook up and enjoy in a pretty short amount of time.

This week, the Foodbeast crew were challenged to create a dish using SPAM as the key ingredient. Our managing editor and taco enthusiast Reach Guinto set out to make a SPAM Al Pastor set up on a trompo.

“I successfully made al pastor at home the other week and still had ingredients for the marinade leftover,” Reach said. “Couple that with the constant craving I have for al pastor tacos and SPAM being readily on deck at my house and I decided to go a little mad and combine the two together.”

“That, or I just wanted to see how some SPAM would look on a cute little trompo,” he mused.

From the looks of it, old Mr. Guinto’s venture was a rousing success.

Check out his recipe in the video above, along with the recipes of the other Foodbeast team members that happened to find some SPAM lying around the house. These include Jasmine (SPAM Fries on a Filipino Breakfast Charcuterie Board), Theresa (Animal Style SPAM Fries), Costa (SPAM Kimbap Burrito), and myself who made a Nashville Hot SPAMwich.

Starbucks Launches A Beyond Meat Breakfast Sandwich In Canada

Plant-based proteins are finally making it onto fast food breakfast menus and as a breakfast lover who’s unable to eat meat for the next few months, I couldn’t be happier to have another morning option that isn’t fruit or oatmeal.

After flocks of customer requests to add more diverse protein options to the menu, Starbucks locations throughout Canada will be releasing a Beyond Meat Breakfast Sandwich early next week. Next week, Beyond Meat fans up north will be able to sink their teeth into these meatless breakfast sandwiches.

The Beyond Meat, Cheddar, and Egg Sandwich is made with a 100% plant-based Beyond Breakfast Sausage comprised of ingredients such as soy, peas, brown rice, and gluten. Paired with a fried egg, and a slice of cheddar cheese, the sandwich is loaded between two slices of English Muffin.

While meatless, the new breakfast sandwich isn’t truly vegan — as it still contains egg and cheese. The chain, however, says all you have to do is take the egg and cheese off upon ordering to get that full vegan effect.

Look for this new sandwich at all Starbucks locations across Canada beginning March 3.

Full disclosure, I own a share of Beyond Meat.

The ‘Shipwreck’ Is A Massive Seafood Sandwich Built On A Loaf Of Garlic Bread

The best part of hitting up a seafood emporium is the variety of options you have available. Everything from freshly fried calamari to creamy clam chowder and freshly grilled fish is on deck.

While it may be hard to pick just one item to enjoy, there’s always the option of combining them all together, and this sandwich does just that.

Called the Shipwreck, this all-in-one sub is easily enough to feed the entire squad. Found at the San Pedro Fish Market Grille, this bountiful fish sandwich carries all of the ocean’s most mouthwatering treasures.

That involves heaps of fried calamari, slabs of grilled salmon, and a healthy portion of clam chowder (yes, you get soup IN this sandwich) tucked into made-to-order garlic bread. It’s all brought together with deep-fried potatoes, fajita vegetables with cheese, and San Pedro’s Secret Sauce.

All three locations of the San Pedro Fish Market Grille, in Wilmington, Rolling Hills Estates, and Harbor City, California, are now carrying The Shipwreck through the end of January. If you can’t make the drive out to one of the Grilles to try this in person, San Pedro Fish Market does sell spices, hot sauces, and Minute Meals online that you can order to make this bad boy within the confines of your own kitchen.

The Shipwreck is the seafood enthusiast’s cheat meal and the sandwich fanatic’s dream all wrapped up in one, and is an absolute beast capable of capsizing almost any appetite. It’s worth the challenge of seeking out and conquering, whether it be solo or with a couple of hungry pals.

A Mansion’s Restaurant Is Twisting Up The Cubano Sandwich With SPAM®️

One of Phoenix’s most ornate landmarks has to be the Wrigley Mansion. It was built by the Wrigley Chewing Gum family back in 1929. In 1992, the mansion was bought by Geordie Hormel, the late heir to the Hormel meatpacking company. To commemorate Geordie, his namesake restaurant at the Wrigley Mansion will be serving up a twist on the classic Cubano Sandwich that utilizes a long-standing Hormel product: SPAM®️.

Called the Hormel SPAM®️ Cubano, this sandwich was created by the mansion’s kitchen team in conjunction with Jamie Hormel, current owner of the mansion and Geordie’s wife. The item is a sharp contrast to the high-end French fare normally sold at Geordie’s at the Wrigley Mansion, but still one that gets a ton of attention to detail.

The restaurant’s take on the Cubano has classic ingredients like housemade pulled pork, whole grain mustard, pickles, and bolillo bread. A couple of twists are then introduced, with white cheddar subbing out the usual Swiss cheese and griddled slices of SPAM®️ Classic taking over for what would usually be ham. Everything is packed into the bread, pressed, and fried, creating a hot, crispy, gooey, and meaty sandwich to salivate over. It’s then served up alongside a cleaned-out SPAM®️ tin that’s been crammed with housemade potato chips.

Geordie’s doesn’t typically sell these types of sandwiches, as the restaurant is known for high-end French cuisine. However, their tribute to Geordie Hormel is one that is still full of flavor and shows the versatility of one of Hormel’s signature products.

You can try the Hormel SPAM®️ Cubano on Geordie’s menu for the entirety of SPAM®️ Restaurant Month.

Togo’s New Pretzelrami Packs On The Pastrami And We’re Not Mad

There’s never such a thing as too much pastrami. I tell my friends this. I tell my colleagues this. I’ll probably tell my kids this. Knowing the amount of work that goes into brining and smoking the product makes me appreciate the flavorful meat all the more. Just pile anything with pastrami and I’m there.

In my quest to try anything and everything new in the world of pastrami sandwiches, I discovered Togo’s newest addition to their menu lineup. They also recently revamped themselves with a new slogan: True to the Sandwich. To coincide with the relaunch, the sandwich chain created a new signature item in this massive Pretzelrami. It features… you guessed it… tons of pastrami.

The sandwich boasts more than a quarter pound of Togo’s pastrami and is topped with two slices of white cheddar cheese, yellow mustard, dill pickles, and served inside a toasted soft pretzel roll.

Honestly, the best kind of pastrami sandwich is one where there’s so much pastrami falling off, you can throw it on your chips or fries afterwards.

Pastrami-loving patrons can find Togo’s new Pretzelrami permanently on the menu as a signature item. Just be ready for that subsequent food coma that’s sure to follow after crushing one. I know I sure am.

Arby’s Is Testing A Massive Curly Fry Stuffed ‘Arbynator’ Sandwich

Often, when we’re eating fast food sandwiches, we like to throw the occasional handful of fries into our serving to give our bite a mini upgrade. Well, it appears Arby’s is saving us that extra step. The sandwich chain is quietly testing another meaty addition this holiday season.

GrubGrade discovered that an Arby’s in Holland, Michigan, is testing a massive new sandwich they’re calling The Arbynator.

It boasts heaps of Arby’s roast beef, curly fries, and a cheddar cheese sauce. Arby’s later confirmed on Facebook that the sandwich also features Arby’s sauce and Horsey sauce.

Residents of Holland, or any drifters passing through, can find the Arbynator in three different sizes: the Classic, the Double, and the Half Pound.

Coincidentally, one of Wendy’s more popular sandwiches in recent memory goes by the Baconator. Curious.

Whether this curly fry-filled sandwich sees a national release remains to be seen. However, if you happen to be near Michigan, maybe you can grab one of those Half-Pounders for us?
