Oh Lawd: Chips Ahoy to Make Ice Cream-Inspired Cookies

10151775073521755

Because regular chocolate chip cookies are soooo 2013, Chips Ahoy is releasing four new flavors of ice-cream inspired treats.  Claiming “no melting, no brain freeze” these take all the “trouble” (if you can call it that) out of ice cream and gives you your favorite flavors in cookie form.

Dulce de Leche-inspired cookies will feature caramel cookie base with dulce de leche chips. Mint Chocolate takes an unusual approach with dark chocolate cookies and mint chips. Mocha Chunk (a personal favorite) unites the classic chocolate chip cookie with mocha chunks for added crunch. And perhaps the most unique of the bunch, Root Beer Float, features vanilla and root beer chips mixed into what we can only hope is a vanilla ice cream-flavored cookie.

No word yet on how truly these match up to our favorite frozen treats, but given how frigid it is outside, I’m definitely feeling a warm cookie over any form of cold dessert.

So what do you think? Stick with the ice cream or would you give these a try?

Pulled pork sandwiches may come a dime a dozen now a days, but have you ever had one with a homemade Root Beer BBQ sauce? That’s what the talented Lisa Huff has done with her awesome summer recipe, which utilizes a can of root beer, a multiple pound pork butt, molasses, brown sugar, and a slew of other ingredients in the sauce and pork braising, all sitting on a fresh bread roll and a bed of coleslaw.

Root Beer Float Cupcakes

One of my favorite childhood sodas till this day is root beer, hands down! The rich deep taste never fails to satisfy me, but when we have vanilla ice cream in our kitchen, regular root beer usually gets the FLOAT treatment. With my affinity for Root Beer, you can imagine my fluttering heart when I was introduced to these Root Beer Float Cupcakes.

Root Beer Cupcakes

Imagine one of the most iconic sodas in history turned into an edible cake. We’re looking at Root Beer Cupcakes that utilize a chocolate base that has been infused with some old fashion root beer. The frosting is made of dark chocolate and a splash of root beer as well! The entire cake is topped off with a root beer cola gummy bottle! (Thx Cookbookarchaeology)

Craving: Root Beer Float

No other concoction brings me back more to my childhood than the root beer float. I can just remember it like yesterday when I was in my kindergarten class and Mrs. McCormick made us root beer floats on the last day of school. It never matters what time of day or how hot the weather, a root beer float always makes me happy. (PicThx Jarrett’sFund)
