How to Make Mini Elvis Hors d’Oeuvres with Bacon-Flavored Ritz

elvis ritz before

As Foodbeast reported last week, Nabisco finally got on board with the answer to “What makes everything better?” and recently released bacon-flavored Ritz crackers. While they are good in their own right, I too would have preferred there to be actual bacon in the cracker rather than just a bacon flavor. Luckily, I solved that this weekend by using Bacon Ritz as a base to a tasty, bacon-topped dish: Elvis crackers.

____

Elvis Crackers

Ingredients

  • Bacon Ritz Crackers
  • peanut butter (about 1 teaspoon per cracker)
  • banana (one slice per cracker)
  • bacon bits (1/4 teaspoon per cracker)
  • brown sugar (1/4 teaspoon per cracker)

 Directions

  1. Line cookie sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Spread some peanut butter on each cracker
  3. Slice up your banana and press one slice into the peanut butter.
  4. Sprinkle with bacon bits.
  5. Sprinkle with brown sugar.
  6. Set oven to Broil-high and broil the cracker stacks until the sugar has caramelized, 2-3 minutes.
  7. Let cool and consume!

Who doesn’t love this combination of flavors? The cracker just gives you another venue on which to serve it, and another layer of flavor to enjoy. And enjoy it you will.

Uhhh, Nabisco Just Unveiled Bacon-flavored Ritz Crackers

Ritz Bacon Crackers

Because it’s never too late to go the bacon route, Ritz crackers is stepping onto the bacon train, ticket in hand. The Nabisco cracker company has announced that they just released their new bacon-flavored Ritz Crackers with black pepper seasoning.

When thinking of cheese and crackers, bacon is definitely a strong possibility when it comes to jazzing up snack time. Though, I’d much rather have heaping chunks of fried salted pork embedded right into the cracker, I guess these flavored crackers will have to tide me over.

While the novelty value of bacon has wavered to some degree, it’s still nice to see some childhood favorites take their own spin on the flavor profile.

Ritz Bacon is now available nationwide for a suggested retail price of $3.99.
