In Case You Missed It: McDonald’s France Gets Bagel Burgers in Bacon, Cheese & Red Onion

Upon learning that McDonald’s France introduced Bagel Burgers, my first reaction was: Did they really get to it before America? Our lucky comrades overseas have access to Mickey D Bagel Burgers in the three scrumptious flavors: “Cheese” (with Emmental), “Red Onion” and “Bacon.” We, on the other hand, have to settle for eating ordinary Quarter Pounders with ordinary sesame buns. Le sigh. Each Bagel Burger contains “some sort of sauce,” which only the French are fortunate enough to know what that means (we can only imagine).

It’s a limited-time offer and only the Bacon Bagel Burger will be offered each week until the end of December. Cheese, is available the weeks of December 5 and 19, and Red Onion is available during the week of December 26th. They made it complicated, but don’t complain. At least you have Bagel Burgers, France. Mark your calendars and eat one for the rest of us!

Vietnamese Bun Burrito

Powered by a recent obsession with Vietnamese flavors and the Vietnamese Bun, this bearded foodie has created what he calls the Vietnamese Bun Burrito. Rice noodles replace traditional burrito rice and tofu replaces beans. The salsa used is made of cucumber, tomato, mint, red onion, garlic, fish sauce, lime juice and salt. The steak is marinaded with fish sauce, soy sauce, brown sugar and chile paste. The other fillings include fried tofu, bean sprouts, vermicelli rice stick tossed in the fish sauce, lettuce, peanut and sriracha.

Slater’s 50/50: Reveals “Venison Burger”

With the popularity of Slater’s 50/50 on the rise, it’s comforting to see they’re still having fun with their burger of the month creations. For the month of December, they have revealed what they call “The Venison Burger“. The Anaheim Hills, CA-stationed burger joint has created a bacon infused ground venison patty, topped with Granny Smith apples, red onions, candied walnuts and a house made blue cheese aioli. For those who have tried a 50/50 burger, or any of the other items on the Slater’s menu, what are your thoughts of this new creation? How does it fare next to their Vampire Burger (October’s burger of the month) or their Chicken Bacon Flapjack Burger from November?

Craving: LBS Extreme Burger

When it comes to Las Vegas, everyone has a “spot” they tell their homies back home about, the place where the food is better than the rest, but I think this one just jumped up a few spots on a few thousand people’s lists. We’re looking at the Extreme Burger from LBS: A Burger Joint, located within the Red Rock Resort Casino and Spa. This particular menu item comes stacked with six half-pound beef patties, and if that wasn’t enough, it is layered with American cheese, portobello mushrooms, lettuce, tomato, red onion, pickles, spicy mustard, herb mayo, house LBS sauce and “ghost peppers” all sitting neatly between a sweet egg bun. Oh yeah, there are also a pound of hot fries surrounding this tower. If you think you can make it past the record breaking 1 million+ Scoville units of heat within those ghost peppers, and finish this burger and fries under 60 minutes, this establishment will happily waive the $30 price tag and rename the entire dish in your honor. (Thx BurgerBusiness)

Jackson Pollock Inspired Confetti Corn

confetti-corn-for-blog

Sweet corn is a great summer food, Justeatfood shows us that we all can have a little Jackson Pollock skills in our cooking just by having fun. Take some cooked corn and cover it in greek yogurt, then roll it in some red onions and then spray some hot sauce all over it and finally top it off with salt and pepper. This looks so good, I think I’ll make it next week when I have time to cook again!
