You gotta love the guy who named the Snickerdoodle. Whether the word really is a corruption of the German Schneckennudeln (meaning “snail noodles”), as Wikipedia suggests, or just a fanciful bit of nonsense courtesy of silly New English (as it also suggests), the name “snickerdoodle” just sounds fun. It’s like what a troublesome schoolboy does when he’s pretending he didn’t do it.
Carl’s Jr. is currently testing a new Snickerdoodle Ice Cream sandwich as the latest edition to its Pop-Tart, Oreo and chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwich line. The guys at Brand Eating spotted this poster at a Southern California location, promoting the new cinnamon-sugary confection for $1.49.

People need to be more excited about sandwiches. Like the old Jake Gyllenhaal snack and sandwich memes, they need to grin from ear to ear and hold their sammies up as if they were the iPhones 20, 30 and 40 all wrapped up into one.
Well, leave it to Reddit to make it happen. A new meme showcasing stock actors smiling blissfully at sandwiches has made its way around the internet these past couple of days. Everyone from concert-goers to ethnically-balanced friend groups to tech-savvy grandparents – no one is safe from the mesmerizing, uplifting powers of a well-made BLT.
So the next time you decide to take a #selfie of your #OOTD, stop for sec and think about how you must look to other people. Primed, perky, smiling stupidly at a nigh-invisible little black box. Yep, to most people walking by, you probably look pretty damn ridiculous right now. But if you replaced that b*tch with a sandwich?
Nah, you still look pretty stupid.

We have just received a lead on a photo emerging from a Carl’s Jr. location out of Newport Beach, CA that apparently is serving a Hand-Scooped Strawberry Pop-Tart Ice Cream Sandwich.
The photo appears to have originated from the location off of Newport Blvd and Industrial Way, for those familiar with the Southern California beach city. Interesting that the stoner-friendly sandwich emerged from Instagram user spec_j on the 4/20, but the sandwich indeed falls inline with the fast food chain’s recent line ice cream cookie sandwiches, following up on both an Oreo Ice Cream Sandwich and a Chocolate Chip Cookie Ice Cream Sandwich.
Our guess leads us to believe the chain is running a spotted test of this new dessert option. For anyone who spots this sandwich at their local Carl’s Jr. (or Hardee’s) location, feel free to Tweet/Instagram a photo and tag it #foodbeast.

A Carl’s Jr. spokesperson has provided us with the following window cling graphic being used in the product’s test markets. As a policy, Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s does not comment on test products. The only information we got was a confirmation that the Strawberry Pop-Tart Ice Cream Sandwich is indeed being tested at limited number of Carl’s Jr. restaurants.

This was the photo that originally surfaced on April 20, 2013:
I have yet to come across a Pop-Tart cupcake, and I’m happy I got to see this one first. We’re looking at a vanilla cupcake with a chunk of a frosted strawberry Pop-Tart baked right into its core. The rest of the cupcake is topped with a rich layer of chocolate ganache and some color-appropriate sprinkles. (Thx BakeItInACake)
