BLAZIN’ HOT CHEEZ BALLS Confirmed As One Of Snack’s First Ever New Flavors

For ’90s fans, Cheez Balls were a staple of snack time. The snack is iconic for its signature cheddar-like test and bright orange color, a single product that hasn’t changed since its debut. However, for the first time ever, Planters has decided to give the iconic cheesy balls a slew of new flavors.

Throughout the course of 2020, Planters will be debuting 4 new flavors of Cheez Balls that will be launched at stores nationwide. The first two, White Cheddar and Nacho Cheez, are available now.

The next flavor up will be Blazin’ Hot, which is Planters’ way of getting in on the viral popularity of items like Flamin’ Hot Cheetos. Blazin’ Hot Cheez Balls, which have the same bright-red hue as the hot Cheetos, will be launching in April 2020.

Sometime later this year, Jalapeno Cheddar Cheez Balls will also be dropping across the country.

All of these new flavors come just a couple of years after Cheez Balls themselves returned to stores following a decade-long absence. It’s clear that the nostalgia and popularity of these has inspired Planters to not just let the cheesy puffs stick around, but to innovate new flavors for them as well.

90s Kids Rejoice, Cheez Balls are Back and Better Than Ever

Ahh, yes!  Who would have thought that the sweet scent of nostalgia would also be so Cheez-y!  All you 90s babies asked for it, and finally Mr. Peanut is ready to give it to you — Cheez Balls are back, and this time it’s here to stay!

The limited release of Cheez Balls in 2018 sent nostalgic hopefuls into a frenzy when it didn’t last long, so PLANTERS put the work in to bring the neon orange snack to this decade.  Fortunately for the hordes of cheese lovers out there, Cheez Balls didn’t return alone. Also available now are pocket-sized shakers of Cheez Powder to use on just about anything you want!

To celebrate, 350 lucky fans can win their own bottle of Cheez Balls Cheez Powder by commenting or tweeting @MRPEANUT what food they would top off with the new powder using #CheezBallContest starting today, August 20, until September 1st.

If you’re also lucky enough to be in New York City on Wednesday, August 21st, you are invited to indulge in a Cheez-y one-of-a-kind pop-up by food truck Made From Scratch and Chef Richard Blais.  Stroll over to Astor Place between 11am-7pm to try tenders, lobster rolls, tots, and many more — dusted in all the Cheez Powder your heart can take.

After Over A Decade, Planters Cheez Balls Are Finally Coming Back

When you think classic snack food, one of the most iconic items that pops up is Cheez Balls. These round cheesy orbs were the guilty pleasures that complemented our late-night gaming binges or movie marathons. They were sadly discontinued back in 2006, but for the first time in over a decade, we’ll be able to enjoy them once again.

Planters is officially reviving their nostalgic snacks, as both Cheez Balls and Cheez Curls are returning to grocery stores nationwide this summer. They’ve been manufactured to have the same flavor, texture, and iridescent hue we all remember. That, of course, will come with the cheesy powder that we could never really wash out of our fingertips.

The rollout of these snacks will be gradual and starts on Amazon and Walmart’s websites July 1st. From there, Cheez Balls will make their way to grocery store shelves over the coming months, with a suggested price at both the store and online level being $1.99 per container.

I’m counting down the days until I can shovel these in my mouth while binging The Office nonstop.

We Dig It: Planters Pumpkin Spice Almonds Taste Like Cupcakes

We got a chance to test out the new seasonal Planters line and were pleasantly surprised by the palatable taste. With everything from vile Pumpkin Pie Vodka and questionable Pumpkin Pie Spice Pringles (among other things), we were wary to say the least.

However, lo and behold, the Planters Pumpkin Spice Almonds are a seasonal Pumpkin-flavored treat that doesn’t make you want to gag. In fact, we wanted more. While the general response for the Winter Spiced Mix was, “I’m not mad at it,” the Pumpkin Spice Almonds were absolutely exquisite. They were like munching on crunchy pumpkin pie cupcakes, while still retaining the nutty flavor. Think a nutmeg, cinnamon cupcake minus the mounds of icing.

Hmm…possible clutch ingredient for a holiday recipe? Stay tuned.

Planters Teams Up With Men’s Health Magazine to Swing New ‘Manly Nuts’

Planters Men's Health Nutrition Nut-trition Nut trition Nuts Mix

Planters, one of the leaders in nut distribution the globe over, has recently partnered with Men’s Health magazine for a new nut mix designed for men’s wellness needs entitled NUT-trition.

The new ‘manly’ mix provides 6g of protein and features almonds, peanuts and  pistachios. In a similar fashion to how Dr. Pepper told men to drop their girly-girl diet sodas for their lower calorie Dr. Pepper 10, Planters seems to be telling its male audience to snack on something manlier than baby carrots and celery sticks.

In addition to the product launch, Planters also conducted a study of 1000+ US men aged 25 to 64 years old about the ‘evolving man.’ According to its findings modern men are becoming more involved with grocery shopping (88 percent), household chores (86 percent), Cooking (85 percent), stay-at-home dads (83 percent) and child rearing (82 percent).

This creates an interesting juxtaposition. A packaged food brand trying to relate to the machismo psychosis with Mr. Peanut riding wild sea beasts and Mr. Almond suited up in scuba gear and a bitchin’ goatee VERSUS the new image of men found in the Planters study burping babies and writing grocery lists.

This situation just creates an infinite amount of questions about the current male population. Does the common man want to be able to relate to ‘manly’ things even when the majority of us are increasingly participating in traditionally dubbed ‘unmanly’ activities and chores?

Does Jason Statham gloriously defeat New York gangsters on set only to go home to strap on an apron and prepare a 5-course meal for his loving family? What has the world come to?

But regardless of philosophy, try the nuts. And here’s the infographic for their man survey:
