Restaurant’s Nationwide Offer These Pink Colored Foods For A Good Cause

October may be designated for Halloween and an existential crisis because you are realizing that the year is basically over, BUT more importantly than both of those factors is: breast cancer awareness.

Throughout October, restaurants around the nation are incorporating pink-themed food and drinks, donating those proceeds to breast cancer foundations. Here are some spots to eat and drink pink to support breast cancer awareness.

TAO

A giant, pink fortune cookie (hopefully with a big and promising fortune inside), is available at TAO’s several locations in: Los Angeles, Chicago, Las Vegas, and New York City (Uptown and Downtown). Enjoy the traditional taste of a fortune cookie, with a twist of white and dark chocolate mousse inside.

PBR Silently Gave Away Pizza All Month On Reddit

If there’s one thing we can all agree on during an election year as divided as 2016, it’s how awesome pizza is.

For the entire month of October, pie-lovers celebrated National Pizza Month by showing their passion for pizza via social media using the hashtag #InPizzaWeCrush.

While everyone was busy stuffing their face with pizza, no one caught on to what Pabst Blue Ribbon Beer had been cooking up all month, as part of their #InPizzaWeCrush Challenge, according to UPROXX.

As far as cheesy—pardon the bad pun—marketing campaigns go, PBR’s #InpizzaWeCrush stunt should be recognized as one of the most generously epic and ingenious ideas ever.

PBR gave people something that even the biggest pizza companies in America don’t give to people. Free. Pizza.

In near secrecy, PBR utilized a free pizza request line via Reddit using subreddit Random_Acts_Of_Pizza and also an InPizzaWeCrush subreddit, to start fulfilling pizza requests to those that followed a simple set of rules.

redditpizzarulesFor 31 glorious days and nights, random requests for pizza were answered to by adding a “Got Pizza’d” sticker on individual subreddit threads.

gotpizzad
What’s more amazing than seeing pizza fiends everywhere trying to come up with over-the-top pizza-based inventions, Josh Elkin’s Pizza Ping Pong Table, and the The Vulgar Chef’s Pizza Beer Koozie?

Watching fellow pizza lovers like PBR keep the pizza love flowing, without even skipping a beer.

We can’t wait until next year.

Man Drops 14 Pounds by Only Drinking Beer and Eating Sausages

beer-sausage

Inspired by Oktoberfest’s boozy shindigs, Arizona resident Evo Terra managed to shed 14 pounds last year by living off a diet of beer and sausages. Terra began the dream peculiar diet three years ago, which consists of two sausages and up to six beers a day — about 15,000 calories per week.

“Most of it was body fat,” says Terry Simpson, Terra’s doctor. “His cholesterol went down by a third.” Simpson monitors Terra’s health and assures non-believers that if the diet ever proved harmful, it would be “shut down.”

Of course, this isn’t magic. It’s just simple numbers. As Terra points out, if his body burns 2100 calories on a daily basis and he only consumes 1500 calories that day, he’ll be burning more calories than he consumes — regardless of the source of those calories.

Of course, “variety” is key here and Terra chows down on everything from breakfast sausages to polish dogs and sips on fruit beers in the morning, kicking back with an imperial stouts around dinner time. The one con to this Oktoberfest regimen is that Terra isn’t fit to drive due to his diet’s food-to-booze ratio. Luckily, his son has volunteered to be the designated driver for the month of October.

Ridiculously Good-Looking Jack-O-Lanterns Made Using Ballpoint Pens and Markers

2

It’s October. And that means one thing and one thing only.  It’s decorative gourd season. More particularly, it’s decorative pumpkin season, and thus the search for some serious orange art begins.

We recently stumbled upon these unique jack-o-lanterns, created by several artists for the group Passion for Pumpkins. Rather than going the traditional route of utilizing only knives to carve spooky shapes, these particular pumpkins were made using only ballpoint pens, oil-based markers, and paring knives.

4

The process is pretty labor intensive. The artists must first thin out the pumpkin’s skin from the inside and out, in order to make it sheer enough (about a quarter of an inch thick) for the light to shine through, making these works of art a sight to see come Halloween night.

Tuscan Chicken Melt and Spicy Italian are Subway’s Featured Footlongs for October

tuscanlead

Copywriters have got to be the smartest people in the world. Have I been to Tuscany? No. Do I even know if Tuscany has good food? No. Frankly, I probably couldn’t even find Tuscany on a map with the help of a cute Italian exchange student. However, am I still convinced Subway’s featured Tuscan Chicken Melt sandwich tastes like sunshine and vineyards and romance?

Absolutely.

subwaytuscan1

Previously available as a limited time offering late last year, the Tuscan Chicken Melt is now Subway’s $6 Footlong special for October. Also available as a salad, the TCM features herb-seasoned grilled chicken, topped with your choice of cheese and vinaigrette.

tuscan3

Following along Subway’s newfound Italy-boner is the Spicy Italian sandwich, October’s $5 Footlong, which is stuffed with Genoa salami and pepperoni and available on the chain’s not-contaminated new garlic bread.

Bonus points: at least we won’t have to worry about vampires this Halloween.

There’s also a featured Chicken Cordon Bleu Melt, but that one doesn’t have a pricing special and won’t ward off legions of the undead, sadly.
