Childhood Favorite Nutter Butter Cookies Just Got A Major Upgrade

Nutter Butter sandwich cookies are now covered in delicious chocolate fudge and we are super excited!

Just when we thought treats for peanut butter lovers couldn’t get any better, we heard about Fudge Covered Nutter Butter Cookies. YUM!

Peanut Butter AND Chocolate?

The rumors are true! PB and chocolate are two of our favorite things. Nutter Butters have remained consistently amazing over the years, with two soft and crumbly peanut-shaped cookies sandwiching a creamy peanut butter filling. Why would anyone want to make changes to something so amazing?

Well, if it means dunking a round version of an extraordinarily tasty PB cookies in chocolate fudge, count us in!

We haven’t had a chance to try them for ourselves just yet (we’re on the hunt!), Instagram’s @CandyHunting was lucky enough to find a box and says that they taste similar to a Girl Scout Tagalong cookie with a little extra crunch.

Where You Can Find Them

So far, there have been limited sightings of Fudge Covered Nutter Butters, and the new Fudge Covered Oreos at Stop and Shop, Target and Giant Eagle. If you can wait for them to be shipped, Fudge Covered Nutter Butters are also available on the Target website for $2.99.

Be right back; we have some cookies to buy!

Chips Ahoy! And Nutter Butter Cereal Are Both Coming To Walmart This Month

2017 has been quite the year for sugar-rush novelty cereals. We were graced with the return of Oreo O’s and an all-marshmallows Lucky Charms box this past May. Now, we’re getting treated to Chips Ahoy! and Nutter Butter cereal variants heading into 2018.

Post, who was responsible for the Oreo O’s reboot, is also spearheading the launch of the two classic cookies in breakfast form. The Nutter Butter cereal won’t contain actual cookie sandwiches, but instead has peanut-shaped pieces with a peanut butter coating.

The Chips Ahoy! Cereal, on the other hand, is literally a box chock full of mini chocolate chip cookies. They’re meant to be eaten in cereal form, but by the handful might be how I want to mow through these instead.

Both cookie breakfasts will be available online and in stores starting December 26th. Based on Post’s site, it looks like this will be the case for Walmart, so make sure to check their website next Friday or head into stores once Christmas is over. Not all Walmarts will be carrying the cereals, however, but Post has a store locator you can use to find those that do.

Nabisco Cookie Chocolate Bark

As you might have noticed, I have an innate desire to take awesome things and figure out how to make them even more awesome. Do you know what’s awesome (besides me, bacon, and basically everything else that I’ve previously declared as such)? Nabisco. And do you know how many amazing cookies/crackers/etc. this company makes? Three…at least in relation to today’s recipe.

Nabisco Cookie Chocolate Bark

– 12oz milk chocolate chips

– 1 Go paks! Mini Oreo®

– 1 Go paks! Nutter Butter® Bites

– 1 Go paks! Mini Chips Ahoy! ®

1. Coarsely crumble all three “paks” of cookies. (I tried to get about 4 pieces from each cookie).

2. Sift the cookie crumbles to get rid of the dust and tiny crumbs and combine the left over chunks in a bowl.

3. Prep a baking sheet with wax paper.

4. Melt chocolate chips and spread onto prepared baking sheet.

5. Evenly distribute the cookie mix over the chocolate and press it all down in there so it stays.

6. Chill in freezer until it is set. Then break it up and buy stock in Nabisco.

I chose these three cookies because I thought they would go well together and cohesively work with a milk chocolate base. But there are so many combinations you could try. If I were to do it again, I think I would try Teddy Grahams®, Nilla® Wafers and Barnum’s Animal® Crackers (Best. Animal Crackers. Ever.) on white chocolate.

If you are a chocolate lover, stick with the recipe above. If you are more into vanilla, try the second option. I know I will.

Homemade Nutter Butter Using Nutella, Dark Chocolate and Caramel

Nutter Butter, in its original form, is a peanut-shaped sandwich cookie with a memorable peanut butter filling. Our friend Rachel was recently inspired to create her own homemade version. Calling it the “Our kind of Nutter Butter dessert,” she used peanut butter, plus caramel, dark chocolate, Nutella and graham crackers in her version to create something that will appeal to fans of the original.

Here’s the recipe adapted from Rachel’s blog for you to try this goodness yourself:

My kind of Nutter Butter dessert

Adapted very slightly from Blue Eyed Bakers
2 packages of Honey Graham Crackers
1 cup Earth Balance (butter)
1 cup organic dark brown sugar
1 cup peanut butter chips
1 1/2 cups dark chocolate chunks
3/4 cup peanut butter
1/2 cup Nutella
Line an 8 by 8″ baking pan with aluminum foil, allowing excess to hang over sides. Spray the foil with non-stick cooking spray, and set aside.
Breaking the graham’s in half, fill the cake pan with one layer of graham crackers. *Break grahams if needed to be sure you fill up the bottom of the pan. Sprinkle a handful or so of each the peanut butter chips and chocolate chunks over the graham layer.
Melt butter and brown sugar in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly, until melted and starting to bubble. It should have a smooth, creamy consistency. Pour 1/3 of this mixture over the graham’s as evenly as you can. Lay another layer of graham cracker’s over this caramel layer. Repeat these steps two more times. Finishing with a layer of graham’s on the top.
In a double broiler, melt the peanut butter and Nutella, until nice and smooth. Spread this mixture over the last layer of graham’s as evenly as you can. Place dessert in the fridge or freezer, allowing to cool for at least 30 minutes or 20 minutes in freezer, so the Nutella top can set. Remove, and follow the guide lines of the graham’s, and semi-cut into squares. (you can cut all the way through, but they may fall apart…. however, if they are too cold, they will break. So, either way, it is going to crack or be a little messy. 🙂 But, messy treats are the best!)
Put these bars back in the fridge or freezer and allow to cool completely.
To keep from chocolate layers melting (the top melts easily now that it is summer), store in the fridge.
