Shake Shack Expanding to Multiple Cities in 2014

Good news for Shake Shack fans who aren’t on the East Coast, the chain is planning on expanding to select cities across the country. Shake Shack will open two new locations over the summer: a second storefront in the JFK Airport as well as a new shop in the Tysons Corner Center in Fairfax County, Virginia. A fourth location in Florida will open in Winter Park sometime in mid-2014.

We’re pretty juiced about Shake Shack expanding since we’ll finally have some Midwest and West Coast locations. Brand new storefronts are set to open in Atlanta, Chicago, Austin, and Las Vegas. Notice there’s still no California location.

What the hell Shake Shack I thought we were cool? Big Gay Ice Cream is already expanding over here so why are we still being deprived of our beloved Shack Stack and Concretes? For now Angelinos will have to road trip it up to Sin City to get our fix, which I guess isn’t so bad.

Big Gay Ice Cream Coming to Los Angeles in Spring 2014

New York based Big Gay Ice Cream is making it’s LA debut as early as this Spring. A popular ice cream parlor on the east coast, Big Gay Ice Cream will be moving into Downtown Los Angeles near the Ace Hotel.

After successfully testing two pop-up trucks in LA last summer, the shop’s west coast move will also bring a full time Big Gay Ice Cream Truck. Co-founder Douglas Quint says, “I love doing the ice cream truck most of all and it’s a much easier scene in southern California than in New York.”

Known for it’s unique menu, Big Gay Ice Cream will also bring their signature classics such as the Salty Pimp to their new shop along with some new LA themed creations. Quint doesn’t have anything specific in mind yet but does hope to incorporate LA’s love of fresh produce into some of his frozen treats.

In its humble beginnings the ice cream shop started as a truck roving the streets of NYC eventually finding sweet success with two storefronts.

Disneyland and Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles to Be Next Door Neighbors

Move over Donald, Mickey’s best new avian friend comes deep fried with a side of syrup.

Adding to the list of iconic eats moving to the neighborhood, Los Angeles-based chain Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles is primed to open its first Orange County location just two blocks away from the Disneyland resort in Anaheim, California.

According to Mohammad Jalilian, a Roscoe’s construction manager, this new location will be the largest of the chain’s six and might even be taking some design cues from its more theatrical neighbor. When it opens “it will be themed as a Southern plantation,” he explained, complete with an “outdoor street-level patio, as well as a second-story French Colonial veranda.”

He also told the OC Register that Roscoe’s is currently looking to expand to other cities including San Diego, and that the Orange County location should be open within the next three months.

OC foodies, rejoice.
