Pregnant Woman Orders McDouble Gets McMaryJane Instead

The latest chronicle in the “weird things found in our food” saga comes from Iowa where a pregnant woman allegedly found pot in her McDouble.

Probably fulfilling a pregnancy craving, the woman and her fiancé ordered their food as normal from the drive thru, but a few bites into her McDouble she realized one of the toppings didn’t belong. The couple is claiming the patty was tainted with marijuana but the local police won’t know for at least a month until the test results are completed.

During the investigation police did find one McDonald’s employee who was in possession of drug paraphernalia but no one has officially been charged yet. As to why someone would waste their stash on some random customer’s burger, who knows.

Whether it’s a crime or a prank we have to wonder how Mickey D’s didn’t think of this before, seems like a good way to get customers to come back with the munchies and order all the things…just kidding.

McDonalds France “Breads & America” Promotion Features Burgers on American Breads

McDonalds France is running a new promotion called “Breads & America” that literally features burgers on American breads. The not so creatively named promo includes three new menu items: Double Shiny Bacon, Grand Bagel Cheese and Double Cornbread BBQ. All three sandwiches are exactly what they sound like, but we’re not sure how the Double Shiny Bacon qualifies as being on American bread since it’s served on your run of the mill bun. Maybe it’s the bacon…yup it totally has to be the bacon.

The Grand Bagel cheese looks just like a Double Cheeseburger just on an everything bagel instead while the Double Cornbread BBQ is literally a McDouble (one slice of cheese) with barbecue sauce on a cornbread bun that’s topped with corn chip crumbs. These novelty burgers aren’t completely accurate representations of the good ol’ U.S. of A but we can’t blame France for trying. McDonalds France might have something with that cornbread bun though, perhaps it’d be better suited with a McRib patty instead of a burger. Just an idea.

When in Doubt, Add Bacon — McDonald’s Testing a Bacon McDouble?

McDonald’s latest test item out in the wild, as spotted by bloggers, is a tempting new Bacon McDouble.

The new sandwich features the familiar duo of “100% beef patties seasoned with a pinch of salt and pepper,” a slice of American cheese, pickles, minced onions, ketchup and mustard. Only this time around, with a $0.99 upcharge from the original Dollar Menu staple, the burger comes with a couple slices of bacon on top.

Is this Bacon McDouble in your town yet? I’m sure you could custom order this sandwich on your own, but would you be opposed to seeing it on McDonald’s value menu? Or would you rather save some room for more favorable McDonald’s items?

Pancake Burrito Burger

Our friend Nick has done it again, taking several McDonald staple breakfast and lunch items to create an amazing sweet and savory sandwich. The process in creating a McDonald’s Pancake Burrito Burger begins by removing the bun from a McDouble and then topping the burger patties with the eggs, sausage, peppers and onions from a Breakfast Burrito. Once that is completed, the burger and ingredients are piled onto a pancake, and then topped with the other pancake. Cutting out the excess pancake surface area will create a more proper fit. I would guess a drizzle of pancake syrup and a side of ketchup will make this a definite winner for breakfast time!

Craving: The Mc 10:35

Part McDonald’s Egg McMuffin, part McDouble. Apparently, this little cutie is called the Mc 10:35 because it can only be ordered at exactly 10:35 a.m., the time when you can simultaneously request items from both the breakfast menu and their normal menu. I’ve heard of this in legend before, but to see it materialized in such a nicely photographed manner is definitely something I can appreciate. I’m starving. (PicThx EpicPortions)

The past few months our country has seen some tough economic times, and as a result, fast food sales, especially the value menus available at some of our favorite chains have seen an increase in attention. The Cancer Project isn’t taking too kindly to this spike in value meal consumption, and has made readily available their own list (shown above) of the top 5 worst value menu items for your health. The article covers some alternatives at the drive-thru, especially steering clear of always ordering cheeseburgers and opting for some more vegetarian options. Eat on!
