Pringles Debuts Stunning Karaage Flavor In Japan This Month

There’s always that one menu item that, no matter where you dine for the first time, if you see it, you have to order it. For me, those two items are Garlic Fish Sauce Wings at Vietnamese joints and Karaage Chicken at Japanese restaurants.

Thanks to Pringles, one of my favorite appetizers is getting its own flavor to kick off 2021. While Vietnamese Fish Sauce Wings Pringles won’t be hitting snack shelves anytime soon, residents of Japan will want to check stores for the new Karaage Aji flavor — the first new flavor addition for the Pringles brand in Japan this year.

SoraNews24 reports the new variation is based on the bite-sized morsels of fried chicken thighs that are breaded, seasoned, and deep-fried. Those flavors, including garlic and onion powder, are now dusted onto each Pringles chip, recreating the popular chicken snack profiles.

You can find the new Pringles hitting shelves beginning Jan. 25 at select stores in Japan. Alright, Pringles Vietnam, let’s get on those Fish Sauce Wing chips next, please.

Dog Haus Restaurants Selling Fried Chicken Sandwich Inspired By Karate Kid Films

Dog Haus, a chain renowned for their unique takes on hot dogs, has just created a fried chicken sandwich that pays tribute to an all-time movie classic.

Their new Karaage Kid, named partly in tribute to the old school karate film, takes karaage chicken, or Japanese-style fried chicken, and places it into a sandwich that has a burst of umami flavor in every bite.

Dog Haus’s Karaage Kid is a special sandwich created for Hawaiian Foods Week, and with the karaage style of frying being popular in the Aloha State, it made sense to bring it to this themed sandwich.

Apart from the karaage chicken, there’s also KING’S HAWAIIAN Sweet Island Ginger Sauce, spicy basil aioli, a layer of furikake seasoning, and an Asian slaw, all piled inside of a toasted KING’S HAWAIIAN Hamburger Bun.

The resulting sandwich is one with a unique combination of flavors and textures, from the crispy, juicy karaage chicken to the creamy and fragrant aioli, crunchy slaw, and pillowy, sweet bun.

You can find the Karaage Kid at Dog Haus locations for a limited time. While it’s on the menu, $1 from every purchase of the sandwich will go to No Kid Hungry, a nonprofit fighting to end childhood hunger in the United States.

Created in partnership with King’s Hawaiian.

Irish People Try Fried Chicken From Around The World [WATCH]

There are few foods in the world that could best fried chicken. If clogged arteries weren’t an issue, we could honestly enjoy fried chicken for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Over at Facts, a lucky panel of Irish lads and lasses got to do what I’ve been dreaming of my entire adult life: try different kinds of fried chicken from around the world.

Dishes featured include Buttermilk Fried Chicken from the United States, Lollipop Chicken from India, Chicken Karaage from Japan, and Peppered Chicken from Nigeria.

Before biting into the crispy cuts of poultry, the group doesn’t actually know where the fried chicken comes from or what type it is. They’re gifted with the experience of trying completely new fried chicken fare utterly blind.

Check out the video to see what they thought of these variations of the iconic dish.
