Man’s greatest invention is arguably fire. The why behind fire’s inception has been speculated with many theories, but newsflash — it was to create s’mores. Look it up. Or not. Or better yet, watch this latest installment of Jeff’s Table highlighting the mighty fireside munch.

Since the dawn of time — or at least since Hershey’s chocolate, graham crackers, and marshmallows have been around — man has turned to s’mores as the go-to snack to ease their fears from a potential bear mauling or countless mosquito bites while out on any campfire excursion. You’re at the beach? Well the fire pit is never THAT far from a Great White’s bite.

But relax, worry about the bite that will introduce your mouth to a particular kind of fire reserved for the power of magma and the surface of the sun. Yet no matter how much our tastebuds are left in ashes after the first, premature bite into that melty chocolate, gooey marshmallow, and crunchy cracker, we always want… s’more.

Not many realized this back then, but Lunchables were the penultimate status symbol of the lunchroom. Yes, the grandaddy of deconstructed meals was an indicator that you had the advantage when bartering for other lunch items or simply were going to attract more friends than usual during lunch. The latest episode of Foodbeast’s docu-series, Jeff’s Table, does much to represent that notion.

The currency of mini bites of processed ham and cheese along with a sip of Capri Sun had much buying power, whether it be of other foods or even of companions, was determined in the hands of the one wielding such might.

Is it the infantile iteration of hors d’oeuvres? Sure. But everybody loves to love infants. And those tiny, bite-sized meals on the go can be just as cute. The mini is much to love, if you think about it.

For hundreds of years folks had been going about their business, drinking milk straight, sans pizzazz, not knowing any better how much tastier their favorite beverage could be with a little infusion of cocoa. It wasn’t until the 1700s when milk late bloomed and high key evolved into the decadent drink we indulge in today: chocolate milk.

Could it be through sorcery or outerworld molecular gastronomy that milk levels up into the luxurious liquid that is chocolate milk? In Foodbeast’s third episode of Jeff’s Table, a docu-series dignifying the everyday home cook, Jeff searches for the answer to such a question.

In Foodbeast’s second episode of Jeff’s Table, a documentary series celebrating the average home cook, we explore the beauty that comes from the Eggo. The waffles, found in the frozen food aisles, are among the most beautiful breakfast items to fly out of the toaster.

Whether eaten dry on the go, or with a pat of butter and a maple shower from Mrs. Buttersworth, Eggo waffles have set the tone for many early-morning commutes.

Truly they’re a golden-brown discus from the gods sent to satiate us hungry, lazy mortals.
