IHOP Finally Reveals Why They’re Changing Their Name to IHOB

Last week, the world was curious why IHOP suddenly decide to rebrand themselves as IHOB.

The International House of Pancakes has been around since 1958, best known for slingin’ short stacks and serving sausage links that leave Denny’s sweating.

While some naturally assumed the “B” will stand for breakfast, IHOP announced this morning that it’s something a little different from what most were expecting. In a tweet, the American breakfast chain revealed that they will begin focusing on their burgers — specifically, a new burger lineup.

Needless to say, fans of the original name were ready to roast.

Even celebrity Chrissy Teigen joined in:

Thankfully, the name change is definitely not permanent.

IHOP president Danrren Relelez told CNNMoney that the change was to convey that the brand wants to begin taking burgers as seriously as pancakes, but they’ll still remain IHOP.

In the meantime, IHOB’s new burger lineup includes the Big Brunch, Cowboy BBQ, Jalapeño Kick, Mushroom & Swiss, The Classic, The Classic with Bacon, and the Mega Monster.

Despite the overall backlash, I have to commend IHOP for shooting their shot with this, though temporary, name change. They have to know they would have gotten flack for it right?

Wake Up Early And Get An IHOP Short Stack for 59 Cents

Every year, IHOP likes reminding you how old it is by dishing out short stacks at the same price as its age.

With the pancake house turning 59 this Tuesday, you’ll be able to roll down there and munch on three of their fluffy little cakes for 59 cents. A short stack at IHOP usually costs about $5.79, so you can see the deal you’re getting here.

Of course, the drawback is that everyone else is going to try to scratch their pancake itch, and there’s probably going to be a line out the door the size of  Kanye West’s ego.

Anytime you can get food for under $1 these days, though, you kind of have to go for it.

Here’s the deets:

What: 59-cent short stacks (1 per person)

Tuesday, July 18 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Where: All participating IHOP locations

Why: Because it’s their 59th anniversary and they celebrate big baller-style

Watch This Entire IHOP Staff Brawl With Each Other Inside The Resturant While A Baby Looks On

When people think of breakfast time brawls, the Waffle House probably comes to mind, but not this time. This time, it went down at an IHOP in Whitehaven, Tenn., and the ENTIRE STAFF was involved.

The incident was caught on film and shows several female employees throwing blows, swinging chairs at one another. All while a baby cried feet away, no less.

Reports confirmed that two sisters, Janika Nellums and Shanika Strickland, were arrested on assault and vandalism charges Saturday June 19, after the brawl.

Memphis-based, WMC Action News reported that an argument broke out inside the restaurant and incited the brawl, which spilled into several parts of the restaurant.

This brawl occurred during actual business hours and several customers were inside while the staff was yelling obscenities and fighting among themselves. During the altercation (1:10 minutes into the video) one of the women picked up a high-chair and tried to break it over the head of another women. Then, in retaliation, (1:20 mark) another women  grabbed a butter knife and began slashing it wildly into the crowd. A man can even be heard shouting, “She’s got a knife! She’s got a knife!”

At least two employees are seen holding a baby during the altercation, the baby can be heard crying throughout the entire video.

Mysterious Hole In This IHOP Parking Lot Just Swallowed Over A Dozen Cars

Imagine taking the morning off work to grab some delicious pancakes at your local IHOP. Now, after casually enjoying those pancakes, you pay your tab only to discover that your car is missing. Such was the case of more than a dozen IHOP patrons and employees whose vehicles fell into a massive hole.

The parking lot of a Mississippi IHOP collapsed mysteriously onto an area near the restaurant’s drainage system. Officials, however, have said this incident was not the result of a sinkhole and that they’re working to figure out the cause of this miniature disaster.

According to IHOP’s official statement, the restaurant had only been open for four days before the incident occurred. Sadly, the restaurant will remain closed until everything is fixed and the source of the problem resolved.

The cause, while still under investigation, is more than likely a result of the recent construction combined with rain.

Luckily, no one was hurt. Though there might a few scratched up vehicles.
