Cold Stone is taking some of its favorite ice cream flavors and transforming them into kettle corn snack mixes.
The creamery’s new partnership with snack mix maker Sweet Chaos blends together Kettle Corn, drizzles, and other snack elements to make a trail mix-like concoction that heavily leans on the sweet side.
Each of the three flavors contains a blend of kettle corn, pretzel sticks, and cookie bites. Based on the variety, they are then drizzled and garnished.
Cold Stone’s Chocolate Devotion mix uses milk and dark chocolate drizzles, the Birthday Cake remix milk and white drizzles with rainbow sprinkles, while the Mint Mint Chocolate Chocolate Chip version uses milk and mint chip drizzles to coat the entire snack set.
All of these snack mix varieties are now available for purchase through the Sweet Chaos website.
Throwing Magic Shells on top of ice cream is one of the more fantastical memories of my youth, hearkening back to after-school snacks in front of the TV set.
Smucker’s has introduced a new flavor to their Magic Shell lineup that encapsulates just that magic.
The new Unicorn Magic Shell features the rich taste of white cupcakes paired with multicolored sparkles. Like all its predecessors, the new Magic Shell is to be poured on top of your ice cream. It’ll then instantly harden, creating a sweet casing that can be cracked open and enjoyed with your dessert.
You can find the new Unicorn Magic Shell in stores nationwide now.
Everything Bagels are one of the quintessential flavors, and go absolutely great with a schmear of cream cheese.
Since they’re paired with dairy already, ice cream maker Jeni’s decided to make the bold jump from sweet to savory and attempt an Everything Bagel Ice Cream.
Made with a salty sweet cream cheese base, all of the flavors you would expect on top of the iconic bagel are present. That includes poppy seeds, sesame seeds, onions, and garlic.
Putting garlic in ice cream isn’t anything new, as folks at the legendary Gilroy Garlic Festival would tell you. Everything Bagel is also a hype flavor getting turned into spices, chips, and more, so it makes sense that folks in the food industry want to capitalize on it.
It’ll be intriguing to see if the flavor of onion mixes in, and if all those can combine with cream cheese in a traditionally sweet treat.
Jeni’s new Everything Bagel Ice Cream is available now in pint form on its website for nationwide shipping, as well as in Jeni’s scoop shops. It will also be sold in scoop form out of the stores on February 6th.
As a kid in the 90’s, I remember seeing a commercial for the fanciest damn ice cream cake to ever grace the frozen foods aisle. What followed images of an exquisitely decorated dessert laced with serpentine frosting were well-manicured hands slicing into it before being served on silver platters. The voice over had me thinking I was watching a luxury car commercial rather than one for a Breyer’s ice cream product.
And thus Breyer’s Viennetta was born. You can reference the YouTube clip above and feel the same vibe that I felt nearly 30 years ago: this is some rich people ice cream.
Sadly the bougie treat would be phased out of the U.S. market a few years after its ritzy debut, leaving fans clamoring for Viennetta’s return for decades.
But now, thanks to Good Humor, Viennetta will be making its splashy return to the States in January 2021 for $5.49 at major retailers nationwide.
With Ben & Jerry’s stepping up to the plate and being a prominent supporter of social justice, it only made sense for them to link up with ardent social activist and former NFL start Colin Kaepernick to release a brand new, permanent flavor.
Named “Change the Whirled,” the entirely vegan offering features a caramel non-dairy sunflower butter base with fudge chips, graham cracker swirls and chocolate cookie swirls. It’s a tasty plant-based option that makes sense for Kaepernick, who is a vegan himself.
This partnership is an appropriate nod to the courageous work Kaepernick has done to champion social justice, pursuing equity for Black and Brown people, and confronting systemic oppression and police violence. With Ben & Jerry’s aspiring to become a social justice company themselves, this sweet collab is a step in the right direction to shedding more light on the social justice ills that have plagued America. What’s more, this new flavor will also support the work of Kaepernick’s Know Your Rights Camps, which he founded to advance the liberation and well-being of Black and Brown communities.
Change the Whirled will be available as a full-time flavor at Ben & Jerry’s Scoop Shops and on store shelves nationwide in the United States beginning in 2021 with a suggested MSRP of $4.99-$5.49.
Fans of peanut butter Ritz cracker sandwiches are getting a frozen treat that celebrates the best of what that snack has to offer, but in ice cream form.
Ritz has teamed up with Coolhaus to make a “Crackers & Cream” ice cream that featured a Ritz cracker swirl inside of a peanut butter ice cream. The collab is the first one Ritz has ever done in the ice cream space.
Ritz crackers on their own are well known, but combining them with peanut butter here calls to our childhood lunch snacks and reminds us that the school season is just around the corner.
Since Coolhaus is known for doing some out-of-box flavors, it would also be cool to see a flavor based on the cheddar Ritz cracker sandwiches some time in the future.
For the current Ritz peanut butter ice cream, however, you can purchase it starting it on September 9th. The flavor is a limited edition, and only available for purchase on the Coolhaus website. There’s no telling if it will make it into grocery stores just yet.
While the pandemic has kept us out of movie theaters, folks have been trying to find fun alternatives to just chilling to Netflix on the couch.
Unfortunately, not everybody has a drive-in theater or a projector screen on handy to get outdoors with films. However, a new concept could be promising, as it brings both the flicks and the food to your driveway.
As part of an ongoing sweepstakes/giveaway, Blue Bunny has constructed a custom truck that serves up ice cream AND comes with a 11-foot by 6-foot movie screen. It can roll up to your driveway, get you some treats, and serve as your out-of-home theater all in one.
We can get outdoors but still be comfortably safe, social distance on the lawn, get some awesome treats, and cozy up for a big screen film all at the same time. Sounds like a fantastic experience to get on your own front lawn.
It would be dope if we could book this for ourselves, but for this iteration, Blue Bunny is limiting the truck to a few select cities and a chance to get the truck in your driveway. You can enter at Funlightenment.com to try and secure one of those private screenings, which can happen in either Denver, Chicago, Cincinnati, St. Louis, or Le Mars, Iowa, depending on the date.
Even if this is just a one-time giveaway for now, though, this is something food truck owners everywhere should take note of. I’m sure I’m not alone in saying I would be down to book one of my favorite food trucks for a private screening if they could bring me some awesome eats alongside a giant screen to play my film of choice on.
Could be an interesting and cool new way for food trucks to make money, but for people to also get outside in a safe and fun way to watch movies.
