This LA Poke Shop Is Topping Their Bowls With Takis

A SoCal poke chain is giving the classic Hawaiian fish dish a true Angeleno twist.

Dakota Weiss, the creative genius behind Sweetfin Poke, has developed a Fiesta Tuna Poke Bowl that adds a ton of fresh LA tastes and combinations.

Mixed in with chunks of fresh tuna are jicama, avocado, grilled corn, and roasted jalapeno. They’re served atop a bed of Mexican chile oil fried rice, drizzled with tequila lime aioli, and topped with Takis.

Together, they add a zesty punch of spicy and citrus flavor that adds the essence of the elote carts of LA into a refreshing bowl of fish.

Sweetfin’s creation is being given out for FREE via the Hubert’s Lemon A Go Go Truck on Friday, November 16th, in Westwood near UCLA. For more information, head to foodbeast.com/huberts.

Fluffy bao combine with crispy chicken in an explosive combination of flavors in this handheld delicacy.

These Fried Chicken Kimchi Bao were created by celebrity chef Brian Malarkey, who runs the greenACRE Campus Pointe restaurant in San Diego, California. His take on the fluffy bao bun adds levels of texture and taste with each component.

Malarkey starts off with double-breaded tempura fried chicken that’s tossed in a furikake seasoning. That’s topped off with a spicy aioli, kimchi, pickled Fresno chili, and some fresh vegetables for multiple layers of crunch. The sweet bao bun intermingles with the heat of the aioli and kimchi for a delicate and delectable balance of flavor.

Ropa Vieja, Cuba’s National Dish, Just Made Its Way Onto Loaded Fries For Brunch

Ropa Vieja, which translates to “old clothes,” is one of the quintessential dishes in Cuban cuisine. The recipe takes shredded steak and converts it into a hearty stew, packed with tomatoes and plenty of veggies.

More on the savory side than spicy, it’s best enjoyed with starchy accompaniments like rice, beans, plantains – or even French fries.

Tastebuds Catering, a Latin American food truck out of Orlando, is opting for the latter of those options in a brunch dish inspired by ropa vieja.

Tastebuds’ take involves loading garlic shoestring fries up with cheddar cheese, a helping of ropa vieja, and a fried egg to tie the whole dish together.

These Loaded Ropa Vieja Fries debuted at Foodbeast’s Brunchfest, presented by Hubert’s Lemonade at Playlist Live in Orlando.

Your Favorite Breakfast Dishes Are Now Empanadas At This Popular Food Truck

When you hear the word “empanada,” the first thing that usually comes to mind is, ‘delicious.’

Since so many of us are head-over-heels in love with these small, half-moon shaped, crispy, meat-filled morsels of heaven, we had the La Empanada Food Truck come up with some never-before-seen, brunchitized renditions just for Foodbeast’s BRUNCHFEST presented by Hubert’s Lemonade.

La Empanada created two brunch-inspired empanadas: Croque Madame and Huevos Rancheros. These two hearty, hand crafted empanadas will wrap you up with satisfaction with every warm, flaky mouthful.

While all empanadas are created equal, the Croque Madame is loaded up with thick slices of ham and super melty cheese. Protip: Break the croque madame in half just to tease your friends on Instagram with a lucious cheese pull before you take the first bite — tag Hubert’s Lemonade while you’re at it.

The Huevos rancheros is stuffed with chorizo, red beans and Monterey Jack cheese, and will provide the sustenance you need to Brunchfest all day long.

Both empanadas were topped with a sunny side up egg waiting to be popped because, well, brunch.
