Viennetta Ice Cream Cake Returns After Nearly 30 Years

As a kid in the 90’s, I remember seeing a commercial for the fanciest damn ice cream cake to ever grace the frozen foods aisle. What followed images of an exquisitely decorated dessert laced with serpentine frosting were well-manicured hands slicing into it before being served on silver platters. The voice over had me thinking I was watching a luxury car commercial rather than one for a Breyer’s ice cream product.

And thus Breyer’s Viennetta was born. You can reference the YouTube clip above and feel the same vibe that I felt nearly 30 years ago: this is some rich people ice cream.

Sadly the bougie treat would be phased out of the U.S. market a few years after its ritzy debut, leaving fans clamoring for Viennetta’s return for decades.

But now, thanks to Good Humor, Viennetta will be making its splashy return to the States in January 2021 for $5.49 at major retailers nationwide.

Get ready to flick a pinky up come dessert time.

Pop Tarts Ice Cream Bars Are A Sweet And Refreshing Reality

Brown Sugar Cinnamon Pop-Tarts are hands down my favorite flavor when it comes to choosing from the lineup. I imagine many will be delighted to see that flavor and texture transition over into ice cream bar form. Yes that’s right, Pop Tarts ice cream bars are a thing now and we’re all for it.

Partnering with Good Humor, the two brands created a new Pop Tarts Brown Sugar Cinnamon Frozen Dessert Bar. Put that sweet image in your mouth and nibble on it.

The bar features creamy vanilla flavored frozen dairy with a rich cinnamon core. It’s then topped with a coating of brown sugar cinnamon crumbles to create a crunchy, creamy bar.

Sounds kind of perfect, especially now that summer is quickly approaching.

You can find them now at available grocery retailers nationwide. Makes me wonder if they’ll ever do a s’mores flavor?

WWE Ice Cream Makes A Comeback, Nostalgia Ensues

If you remember flagging down the ice cream man and copping a Stone Cold Steve Austin ice cream bar, you had an awesome childhood.

Sadly, a lot of kids these days didn’t have that same pleasure, as the WWE bars went M.I.A. in 2009. Thankfully Good Humor is bringing back the fan favorite ice cream.

While the original “WWF Superstar” bars were essentially ice cream sandwiches on a stick, the new versions reduces the waste, simply making them ice cream sandwiches, outright.

That’s right, no more stick so you’re probably going to get that soft cookie coating on your fingers.

Just off the visuals, there is another striking change, as the originals had a chocolate coating on one side, and these look like they simply have the classic cookie crisp on both sides.

That’s already not sitting well with fans, as there’s an immediate one star review on the Good Humor web site pointing out the changes. Redditors are also not loving the changes, saying “… ice cream sandwiches isn’t what I grew up on. Bring back the ice cream bars!!!!” and asking “No chocolate back?”

As far as the wrestlers that will actually be printed on the ice cream, Roman Reigns, “Macho Man” Randy Savage, John Cena and Becky Lynch will be the first superstars featured on the sandwich.

Good Humor said these will be officially launching in April 2020, which coincides with WWE’s biggest show of the year, Wrestlemania.

OREO Drops Limited Edition Rocky Road And Strawberry Shortcake Flavors

OREO has more flavors than Drake has club bangers, and this summer, OREO is cranking out some hits.

Ice cream lovers should be excited for these new Good Humor Strawberry Shortcake and Rocky Road Trips flavors.

The Strawberry Shortcake made its debut in early July and is available in stores, while the Rocky Road will follow July 23.

The Strawberry Shortcake consists of whipped strawberry shortcake creme, and there are even strawberry flavored bits within the golden OREO wafer. Lovers of Good Humor’s Strawberry Shortcake will not be disappointed, as every bite has a similar mouthfeel of biting into the crunchy ice cream bar.

The Rocky Road flavor has a traditional chocolate wafer, and chocolate creme filled with marshmallow and soy nut pieces.

Pro tip: Freeze these bad boys for a mind f*ck that feels like you’re actually eating an ice cream bar. We figured these were ice cream flavors, so let’s see how they taste frozen.

The answer is they taste amazing, and you’re welcome.

OREO’s Releasing A Limited Edition Disney Collab, Here’s A Sneak Peek

During the Sweets and Snacks Expo, OREO showed off six of their upcoming flavors for 2018, one of them being a collab with Disney and the big mouse himself.

Our friend Chris of Junk Banter, who is usually on top of all the new OREO flavors, provided a sneak peek of a limited edition Mickey Mouse Birthday Cake flavor, with Mickey Mouse prints on the cookie.

Coming along for the 2018 ride will be a Good Humor Strawberry Shortcake flavor, Rocky Road Trip, Peppermint Bark, Pistachio Thins, and Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie, which has been rumored since December, 2017.

All the flavors sound amazing (except maybe the pistachio. Who asked for that?), and those who grew up with strawberry shortcake ice cream bars are probably extra excited to try that one.

The Strawberry shortcake and Rocky Road are expected to release this summer, while the Peppermint Bark are expected to be a holiday season release.

OREO’s Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie and Pistachio will release in 2018, but we don’t really know when, yet.

The Mickey Mouse collab will likely come out around November, as it’s celebrating the 90th anniversary of Mickey’s film debut in Steamboat Willie, back on Nov. 18, 1928.

OREO flavor launches have turned into the equivalent of a new shoe release. We never know what OREO is going to come up with next, but we always know something is coming.

OREO didn’t try to keep anything secret, and they shouldn’t, since the flavors always get leaked anyway. Now we know what to expect. Those Mickey OREOs are going to be a hot pickup, and the Strawberry Shortcake are also an instacop. Hope you’re not on a diet this summer.
