Häagen-Dazs’ Free Cone Day Is Back And Still Helping To Save Bees

For over a decade now you’ve been enjoying free ice cream from Häagen Dazs, but we bet you never took the time to actually learn why this blessed day comes around once a year.

It’s crazy to think that those little flying demons that we are told to stay still around are actually responsible for nearly every delicious flavor we put into our mouths.

Bees, through an incredible amount of pollination, are the sole suppliers of over 70 percent of the crops that humans rely on. Foodbeast did a write-up on what your food would look like if bees went extinct, maybe checking this out will help push you to donate instead of gorge on free ice cream all day.

And Häagen Dazs has been thanking them for 10 years as a part of their “Häagen-Dazs loves Honey Bees Initiative” with Free Cone Day being focused directly on thanking and supporting the bees.

While there’s no feasible way to physically thank said bees, supporting the effort in preventing their extinction is definitely the better alternative.

And what better way to support a cause than by getting free ice cream? There’s no other way and it is amazing.

On May 8th, between 4 – 8pm Häagen Dazs is coming back again with their annual Free Cone Day. Pop into a local shop and receive one free scoop of ice cream or sorbet in a cup, sugar cone or cake cone between specified hours.

The purpose of this day is to recognize the bees and their gift of pollination, without which we wouldn’t have delectable flavors like Rocky Road, mango, or even strawberry.

The fact that you’re getting a free cone might push you to actually thank the bees in a viable way, because face it, most people don’t care about anything else if free ice cream is offered.

Think of it like this, you would have paid for the ice cream at some point anyway, this way you can use whatever you thought you would have had to pay and donate it here, to help fund research in preventing the decimation of bees.

One day you might not be able to get that delicious strawberry cone again and you’ll wish you spent even a fiver helping fight for bees.

Ben & Jerry’s Wants to Thank You With Free Ice Cream

Prepare yourself for the 10th of April. Drink plenty of water the night before. Have a balanced diet the days leading up to it. Try to exercise. Most importantly, keep your sugar intake to a minimum.

Why? Ben & Jerry’s is trying to kill us all. Well, not really, but that fateful Tuesday will test the population’s self control because for that day only anyone and everyone is invited by the ice cream giant to indulge in a free cone or cup.

Now, you might not think that one cone or cup is enough to call for some changes in diet, but add in the fact that Ben & Jerry’s is ready to let people stand right back in line after they get their cone. Now you get the warning?

With 35 flavors to choose from at any Scoop Shop in the US, this calls for a full on ice-cream day-trip with anyone willing to freeze their blood.

Since 1979, Ben & Jerry’s has been doing this Free Scoop Day as a way to show gratitude to the customers that have kept them going from the start.

It’s no shock since then that the flavors of ice cream have grown, no longer are your free scoops fixated to either a chocolate or vanilla. It’s 2018, we’ve got Phish Food, my guy.

This is the best opportunity for anyone not familiar with the plethora of flavors Ben & Jerry’s offers to get a taste. There’s over 30 reasons to stand in line and spend the day eating ice cream.

Häagen-Dazs Free Cone Day Is On Tuesday, May 9, 2017

Everyone mark your calendars! Free dessert is on the way! Häagen-Dazs wants to cure your ice cream cravings this Tuesday, May 9th, 2017 by sharing a free scoop of ice cream or sorbet with visitors between 4pm-8pm at all participating locations.

This year though, Häagen-Dazs doesn’t just want to make it about the ice cream. They want to continue to raise awareness on the alarming decline in our world’s bee population.

Häagen-Dazs wants everyone to pay it forward by planting wildflowers native to their region. A third of our world’s crops are dependent on bees, and so are Häagen-Dazs’ flavors. So no bees = no almonds in the Rocky Road, no coconut in the Toasted Coconut Caramel, no raspberries in the Raspberry sorbet.

Tragic, right?

So if we want to continue having ice cream in the future — not just from Häagen-Dazs —  then we’ve all got to do our part in sustaining a world where our pollinators can thrive.

Ben and Jerry’s Free Ice Cream Day on April 8th

It’s the herald of spring, at least over here on the East Coast, when winter gets so cold that the thought of anything frozen gives you the shivers. However, free ice cream is coming, just two days after the Game of Thrones season 4 premiere.  These are good times my friends.

On Tuesday, April 8, anyone can grab a free scoop at Ben and Jerry’s around the world. You can even get two scoops (though you’ll have to wait in line again).  Whether you’re a loyal fan of sweet cream and cookies or you’re just dying to try some of the new Core flavors Ben and Jerry’s recently released, the world is your ice cream cone. At least for one day.
