How To Make Super Garlicky CHILI OIL For Ice Cream

Arguably one of the best ingredients on the planet is the humble garlic. While simple looking enough, garlic packs such a rich and bold flavor that it stands among even the fanciest of ingredients.

In this week’s Foodbeast Recipe Challenge, our team was tasked with creating a Stinky AF Garlic Recipe.

One of the ballsiest takes was Foodbeast’s own Constantine Spyrou, who created an extra garlic-packed chili crisp that he doused over a scoop of ice cream. This unlikely combo became a trend in China, which ultimately became the inspiration for his contribution.

Check out how he pulled off his garlic recipe, along with this week’s STINKY AF garlic creations.

Other participants during the garlic challenge include Lasinya Aloo, AKA Indian garlic potatoes (@theglobalvegetarian), Garlic Fried Lobster Poutine inspired by Cantonese & Canadian cuisine (@hungry_jona), and Roasted Garlic Flatbread w/ Lobster & Garlic Confit (@mkubiesa).

This Is What Subway’s New ‘Tacos’ Look Like

subway-japan-subway-taco

When you think of tacos, you usually think of sketchy ground beef, covered with a ton of lettuce and wrapped in a flat bread, right? Probably not, but that’s pretty much what Subway Japan’s new Subway Taco is.

It’s really just one of their regular flatbread sandwiches, except the usual cold cuts are replaced with ground beef. They’re offering a spicy salsa with it, too — I guess that’s kind of taco-ish.

A Grilled Tandori Chickn sub and Shrimp Avocado Salsa sub join the taco as part of a new spicy promotion Subway has going until the end of August.

Maybe Subway’s banking on Japanese people not knowing, or caring what a taco is, but some Mexican taqueros need to open up shop down there, quickly, so Japanese food-beasts can know what a taco is supposed to look like.

Get Your Thanksgiving Fix Early With Panera Bread’s New Fall Menu

panera-turkey-cranberry-flatbread-sandwichIn keeping with seasonal tradition, Panera Bread has launched their new Fall menu. The chain’s new Turkey Cranberry Flatbread Sandwich brings customers an early taste of Thanksgiving. Filled with roasted turkey breast, cranberry mostarda, garlic herb cheese, and spinach, this flatbread is very similar to a previous fall menu panini that Panera offered a few years back.

A new addition to the pasta lineup includes Butternut Squash Ravioli, which features sage and egg striped noodles stuffed with butternut squash, butter, brown sugar and amaretti cookies topped with a leek and garlic cream sauce, topped with fresh baby arugula and onion shoestrings. How cookies belong in a ravioli is a little weird but whatever, as long as it’s related to pumpkin or Thanksgiving it still fall appropriate.

Customers with a sweet tooth can find a new pastry waiting for them at the front display. The Caramel Apple Scone is described as a cream based scone with caramel chips, dried cinnamon apples, and then topped with cinnamon apples and caramel icing.

Brand Eating reports that “Jack-O-Lantern cookies, Pumpkin Muffies, Cranberry Orange Muffins, apple chips as a topping for their Steel-Cut Oatmeal, Vegetarian Autumn Squash Soup, Pumpkin Spice Lattes, Cherry Vanilla Bagels, Pumpkin Cookies, and Pumpkin Muffins” will also be making their autumn comeback.

Burger King Innovating Overseas With a Lamb Flatbread Burger

Burger King will be introducing a Lamb Flatbread burger in its UK restaurants next week as a limited time offering. The sandwich will feature ‘succulent lamb,’ chili ketchup, salad and mint yoghurt in a rosemary flatbread.

Burger King UK announced that the sandwich will be available next week in the region, and with this recent addition looks to join the ranks and tone of other fast casual and upscale restaurants that have offered lamb burgers on the menu for years. As is visible in the product shot reading “1st Time Ever,” their promo material seems to note that they might be the first in the fast food genre to offer a lamb burger.

Oven-Baked Feta Cheese Dip

Feta cheese – you either love it, or hate it. Growing up, I had no choice but to love it. As a Macedonian you are almost expected to want to eat it night and day. It’s like an Italian and his/her mozzarella cheese; they go hand in hand.
