FOODBEAST 101: How To Count Macros With Emojis

For those of us who are always trying to be the healthiest versions of ourselves, it’s always helpful to figure out how to get the most out of what we’re putting into our bodies. Like a car needs gas to run, the human body needs food to function.

Just like different cars can require different gas, the same thing holds true for the human body. That’s why some people may require different types and quantities of foods to be their healthiest selves.

When your body is burning valuable fuel, it’s critical to have a balanced diet that consists of protein, carbs and fat, in order see results.

Still, it’s not always that easy to figure out how much of certain foods we should be consuming or not consuming. To help make sense of a regimented eating method, fitness professional Billy Keleman helps break down the science behind Macros in our latest FOODBEAST 101 video.

Even for a Fitbeast like Billy, food is very important. We all know it’s hard to cook at home everyday, but Billy’s thankful for places like Flame Broiler that have delicious meal options that won’t ruin your macros regimen in one meal.

To maintain your body weight, the average person should consume around 2,000 calories per day. However, there are different calorie requirements depending on your fitness goals.

Watch the video to see some of Billy’s favorite meals at Flame Broiler and learn what you need to eat in order to gain weight, lose weight, or maintain weight. Whatever your goal is, counting macros is a great way to start

Basically, macros account for a certain percentage each meal. Starting with carbohydrates at 40 percent, 35 percent protein and 25 percent fat in each meal. This simple formula will help you keep track of your daily intake.

By breaking down each meal into macro categories, it’s easy to have control over your fitness journey.

Eating healthy may be hard, but just know – next time you forget to meal prep, you can always rely on Flame Broiler!

Flame Broiler Wants To Give You A FREE Bowl Of Tofu

In their first change in 21 years, the Flame Broiler chain has added organic, charbroiled tofu to its menu. To draw a little hype the first 100 customers to show up at any participating Flame Broiler location will get a free mini tofu bowl to grub on.

The bowl giveaway will take place on Thursday, April 28.

If you’ve got your heart set on getting that free tofu bowl, make sure you’re at least in the parking lot by the time they open. Possibly earlier. Not sure, really. The demand for free tofu eludes us.

Put This Date Down In Your Calendar For FREE Flame Broiler!!

Flame Broiler fans, get ready to eat some free rice bowls. On December 3, Flame Broiler will be celebrating its Platinum Anniversary. Because of the 20-year celebration, the brand will be giving away a free rice bowl to the first 100 people to show up at any of its 180 locations.

Even better, the first person to step into each Flame Broiler location will get free rice bowls for an entire year. We’d be more than down for that.

The restaurant typically serves four types of boils: beef, chicken, mixed and veggie. Each bowl features a protein, blanched cabbage, broccoli, carrots and green onions on top of a bed of white or brown rice. You can also drown your meat in a special hot sauce or Flame Broiler’s signature Magic Sauce.

Set your calendars and save your stomachs.

Flame Broiler

Flame Broiler used to be an afterschool delicacy during my high school years. My friends and I would pile into our chick-magnet ’88 mafia inspired Mercedes and head out to our local Fullerton, CA branch of The Flame Broiler. “Flame B” as we used to call it, because we were cool, always boasted filling bowls of chicken, beef or veggies with healthiness as a central ingredient in their food preparation. Lucky for us, the Flame Broiler franchise has expanded greatly since our highschool escapades, and now boast almost 50 restaurants across California and Arizona…one of which is the new Irvine location pictured above. Join us as we check it out!
