This Stunning Poster Features 25 Glorious Japanese Egg Dishes

Eggs are one of the most versatile foods around. We, as a nation, have grown complacent with simply throwing a fried egg on everything and anything. That’s fine and dandy for an Instagram photo, but that’s no way to broaden your egg-loving horizons.

Tamago, the Japanese word for egg, is featured in many dishes in Japan. A poster created by a talented designer named Fanny, AKA the Japanese Foodie, highlights 25 different Japanese dishes that feature the beloved tamago.

Items include dishes like egg jelly, egg omelette sushi, omelette rice, pudding, egg rice porridge, and rolled eel omelettes.

With about a week to go, the Kickstarter campaign has already reached more than its intended $1,000 goal. We’ll keep you posted with a direct link on where to buy it when we find out. Until then, there are a few spots left to fund this project and get an early version of the poster through the Kickstarter.

This is a definitely must-have for the ultimate lover of eggs.

Constipated Man Shoves Live Eel Up His Butt To Eat Away Blockage, Here’s What Went Wrong

As we’ve learned as we get older, fiber is essential to our diets. Especially in this line of food-heavy work.

It seems a man in Guangzhou, China needed just a bit more fiber in his lifestyle as he had a pretty bad case of constipation, reports SoraNews.

His solution to this shitty problem? The dude thought it was the best form of treatment to shove a live 20-inch eel up his butt to eat away all of his shit blockage.

Yes, rather than buying laxatives or seeing a physician, he thought it would be a good idea to try this ancient folk remedy he heard about.

Unfortunately, the terrified creature tore through the man’s intestines before getting stuck in his midsection.

The man went to the hospital, yet avoided informing doctors of his newfound friend. Imagine their surprise when they ran tests and discovered this dude’s “home remedy” just sitting in his stomach. Immediate surgery was needed in order to prevent further harm to the man’s life.

Sadly, the eel died while inside the man. He was, however, said to be recovering after the procedure. Check out the recreation of the incident provided by TomoNews in the video above, complete with post-surgery photos.

The takeaway from this? Maybe eat more fiber and shove less eels in your body.

Maybe.

Here’s Why People Are Suddenly Throwing Butter On Their Sushi

Butter-Sushi-Japan

A new trend in Japan has people enjoying thick slices of butter on their sushi. Specifically on unagi, also known as freshwater eel.

Jinen, a Japanese restaurant chain, has added the new unagi butter sushi dish to its menu. Featuring vinegar rice topped with a slice of unagi, a generous pat of butter and held together with nori seaweed.

RocketNews24 reports that this might be the richest sushi ever. Fans of the traditional unagi sushi dish will know that the freshwater eel is already rich in flavor. Now, combine that with a heap of butter.

Apparently, when fused, the warm eel and butter just melt in your mouth. Sources say that most of the diners who have tried the combination of butter and eel have been delighted with the taste and instantly hooked.

The more we hear about it, the more we want to run towards our nearest sushi spot with a tub of Country Crock.

If anything, this is an anti-Foodbeast post. Reports have surfaced of a 59-year-old chef passing out drunk and having a 50cm long Asian swamp eel inserted into the man’s bottom by his peers. Doctor’s in Sichuan, China discovered the sea creature and announced that the eel had gone after the man’s bowels (and succeeded). What a terrible drunk story.
