Recipe Mind Over Batter
Because regular chocolate chip cookies are soooo 2013, Chips Ahoy is releasing four new flavors of ice-cream inspired treats. Claiming “no melting, no brain freeze” these take all the “trouble” (if you can call it that) out of ice cream and gives you your favorite flavors in cookie form.
Dulce de Leche-inspired cookies will feature caramel cookie base with dulce de leche chips. Mint Chocolate takes an unusual approach with dark chocolate cookies and mint chips. Mocha Chunk (a personal favorite) unites the classic chocolate chip cookie with mocha chunks for added crunch. And perhaps the most unique of the bunch, Root Beer Float, features vanilla and root beer chips mixed into what we can only hope is a vanilla ice cream-flavored cookie.
No word yet on how truly these match up to our favorite frozen treats, but given how frigid it is outside, I’m definitely feeling a warm cookie over any form of cold dessert.
So what do you think? Stick with the ice cream or would you give these a try?
Picthx Chips Ahoy!
McDonald’s will be rolling out with new Dulce de Leche Shakes beginning June 10 to September 15, 2013. Which means you have 98 days to make the most of this sugar rush. Yes, I counted.
The new item is made from from Mickey D’s reduced fat vanilla ice cream, caramel syrup and topped with whipped cream and a cherry. We’re guessing the Dulce de Leche will be similar to most of Mickey D’s McCafé drinks, aka liquid cake in a cup. Mmm, absolutely divine. Again, you have 98 days to get your fix.
Spangler Candy has announced that their Dum Dums Lollipops will bring on two new flavors to the brand: Dulce de Leche and Fruit Punch. The company had allowed fans to vote for which flavors they wanted at dumdumpops.com, resulting in the two new additions to the Dum Dums family.
Fruit Punch, a flavor which was used by Dum Dums back in 2002, is making it’s comeback after a decade-long absence and bringing along with it, Latin American “Milk Candy”, Dulce de Leche.
All I hear on the radio these days are famous rappers singing about money, cars and women. If I was a platinum rapper, only thing I would be rapping about is food! My double-platinum hit single would be undoubtedly about this Chocolate Cheesecake with Caramel Ganache!
Who wouldn’t want to hear a song about cake? This is simple: a cheesecake that has been married with Double Stuffed Oreo Cookies, milk chocolate chips, semi-sweet chocolate chips, dulce de leche and lined with toasted pecans! (Thx MissInTheKitchen Recipe @ Doughmesstic.net)
These Dulce de Leche Brownies are the definition of eye candy… alongside Olivia Munn! But lets get back to the main course, if you guys aren’t familiar with your Latin-American treats, Dulce de Leche is a thick milk-based caramel sauce. It sounds delicious, tastes even better, and you can even eat it by itself if you like.
I prefer to have my cake and eat it too, which is why I chose to eye these Dulce de Leche Brownies! They are basically made with one cup of Dulce de Leche (home made or store bought), pecans or walnuts, semisweet chocolate, cocoa powder and your basic brownie essentials like eggs, butter and flour. Look at the crazy swirls on the crust of the brownie… they are making me drool. (Recipe @ MissInTheKitchen)
O man! Dulce de leche-infused churro bites with cinnamon-sugar make up these churro tots! Fresh whipped cream is a great side kick to this new twist on a classic! If you’re trying to get your hands on one of these check them out at Bordergirll!
Girl Scout cookies have been around since the 1930’s and no matter how bad the economy gets, they still just fly off those little tables out front of your local grocery store. Let me introduce you to the cookies, incase you don’t know. Thin mints, Samoas (Caramel), Tagalongs (Peanut Butter Patties), Do-Si-Dos (Peanut Butter Sandwich), Trefoils (Shortbread), Daisy Go Rounds, Thanks-A-Lot (Shortbread with fudge), Lemon Chalet Cremes, Sugar Free Chocolate Chips, Dulce de Leche, and Lemonades. If you haven’t ever had 1 (which I doubt) get out there, support, and enjoy!
