Dairy Queen Is Upping The Nostalgia, Brings Back The Treatzza

In 1995, Dairy Queen launched an epic dessert item known as the “Treatzza Pizza.” This dessert pizza consisted of a fudge cookie base that was topped with soft serve and four different combinations of candy bar toppings and chocolate and/or caramel drizzles. This 90s treat brought many fans into DQ joints to get a slice of this dope dessert pie.

Sadly, at some point around 2008, Dairy Queen discontinued the Treatzza and confirmed as much to a blogger hoping to score one after at least a year of not being able to find one in any U.S. store. The blogger continued the nostalgic quest of trying to locate one elsewhere until sometime last year, when a fan sent in a picture of the Treatzza back on the menu at a Dairy Queen in Illinois. This brought some hope back into the United States that DQ could make some dreams come true and put their ice cream pizza back on the menu.

Fast forward to today, and we have finally have confirmation that the Treatzza is making a triumphant return to DQ’s permanent menu. Just like before, four flavors are now available in Dairy Queen stores nationwide: Heath Bar, M&M’s, Reese’s, and Choco-Brownie. Each one comes served in eight slices, just like a regular pizza.

Dairy Queen is upping the nostalgia by also bringing back Mr. Misty drinks, or frozen slushies from the 80s and 90s, as a new line of Misty Slush beverages. Cherry, Blue-Raspberry, Grape, Strawberry-Kiwi and Lemon-Lime flavors will be available starting June 26.

If you’ve been waiting for a long time to enjoy one of these Treatzza Pizzas or Mr. Misty slushies again, now’s the time to go re-experience this 90s classic.

Pizza Hut Japan Teams Up With Candy Company to Create Caramel and Marshmallow Pizza

Caramel Pizza

Just when you thought there couldn’t be a partnership stranger than Blake Shelton and Pizza Hut the chain goes and surprises everyone by teaming up with a candy company. Morinaga Milk Caramel and Pizza Hut Japan have collaborated to create a diabetes Caramel and Marshmallow Pizza.

Topped with mini colorful marshmallows, almond slivers, and a milk caramel sauce, the dessert pizza has a savory twist in the form of a cheddar cheese crust. It might sound super weird but sweet and savory isn’t exactly a new concept. In America, apple pie is sometimes topped with cheddar cheese so a cheesy crust dessert pizza doesn’t sound too crazy by comparison.

The new pizza is available for a limited time at Pizza Hut Japan from 5/29-6/30.

Japanese Restaurant Creates Dessert Pizza Topped with the New Bakeable Kit Kats

Pizza Kit Kat

Earlier this week, we found out that bakeable Kit Kats exist. The delicious DIY novelty from Japan made us all want to throw our Kit Kats in the toaster oven whilst wiping the drool from our chins. Now, it looks like the Japanese restaurant Napoli no Kama is capitalizing on the idea with pizzas topped with those very same Kit Kats.

What made the bakeable snack, dubbed “Bake ‘N Tasty Mini Kit Kats Custard Pudding Flavor,” so awesome was that they would caramelize the chocolate into a crystal-like substance before the surface chocolate melted. Napoli no Kama is offering what they call a Kit Kat and Mango Dolce Pizza. The pie is made with Gorgonzola cheese sauce, honey maple sauce, mango slices, mixed nuts and topped with pudding-flavored bakeable Kit Kats.

The Mango Dolce Pizza, medium-sized, is available at 1,630 yen ($16 US) for a limited time only. Excuse us while we book our flights.

Ultimate Dessert Pizzas

The idea of dessert pizzas may not be news to you, but wait till you see the level of execution on these two pies: Pecan Pie Pizza (left) and a Red Velvet Pepperoni Pizza (right). The Pecan Pie Pizza is made from both cookie and pizza dough and cinnamon bun glaze for decoration. The Red Velvet Pepperoni Pizza features a strawberry jam and frosting “sauce,” white chocolate “cheese,” Snickers, Rolo’s, cut-up Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups as “sausage” and red velvet “pepperoni.”

Both of these pies were handmade by our friend and talented smartphone app developer Stefano, and once he realized the endless possibilities involved with creating candy dessert pies, he couldn’t stop. Enjoy the tooth aches people, process documented below:
