DoubleTree Finally Revealed Their Iconic Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe

After a long drive, the first thing I look forward to when checking into any DoubleTree hotel is that soft, warm cookie that they hand you upon check in. Seriously, there are so many good memories associated with that first bite.

For those tired of making banana bread at home, DoubleTree just released their iconic chocolate chip cookie recipe for all to enjoy.

If you’re not traveling anytime soon, but want to recapture the magic that comes from each bite of this warm puck of ambrosia, here’s what you’ll need:

DoubleTree Signature Cookie Ingredients

  • ½ pound butter, softened (2 sticks)
  • ¾ cup + 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup packed light brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 ¼ teaspoons vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 2 ¼ cups flour
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Pinch cinnamon
  • 2 2/3 cups Nestle Tollhouse semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 3/4 cups chopped walnuts

All you have to do is combine the butter, sugars in a mixer for about 2 minutes. Toss in the eggs, vanilla, and lemon juice with the mixer now turned to low for 30 seconds, then switch it to medium for 2 minutes until the batter is light and fluffy. Now switching back to low speed, add the flour, oats, baking soda, salt and cinnamon for 45 seconds.

Take the bowl off the mixer, and stir in your chocolate chips and walnuts. Divide the dough with a cookie scoop and put them onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper two inches apart. Preheat your oven to 300°F and bake for 20-23 minutes (or until edges are golden brown and center soft). Take them out of the oven, and let them cool for an hour.

Each recipe makes about 26 cookies. Wonder how many of those 26 I can knock back in a single sitting?

Milk Bar is Serving Up a 10 INCH Peaches and Cream Cookie Cake

Milk Bar, the NYC bakery famous for their wild creations like cereal milk soft serve, is serving up a new version of their Compost Cookie Pie. This time, they’re giving it a southern spin, with the new Peaches & Cream Cookie Pie.

For the uninitiated, the Compost Cookie Pie is, as the name suggests, a giant cookie packed with an assortment of ingredients, from potato chips to coffee.

The new one’s ingredients are a bit more subdued, but equally as delicious. Layers of white chocolate chips, dried peach bits, and milk crumbs are incorporated into to a 10-inch wide sugar cookie which is then drizzled with a peach jam and more white chocolate.

Peaches? Check.

Cream? Check.

A cookie double the size of your head? Check.

Unfortunately, this is just a test item for the time being. Milk Bar will only be selling this for a limited time. If you want to try this diabolically sweet creation, it’s available for order online at www.milkbarstore.com until August 19th.

BJ’s Just Revealed A Fruity PEBBLES Cereal PIZOOKIE

A few months ago, BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse turned heads by creating a Cinnamon Toast Crunch Cereal Pizookie. The decadent cookie-based dessert featured vanilla bean ice cream, Cinnamon Toast Crunch Cereal, and cinnamon sugar. Heralded as the first in a line of breakfast-cereal themed Pizookies, the delicious reveal left us wondering what the next pizookie offering will be.

Now, the restaurant chain has dropped the newest iteration of the breakfast cereal Pizookie in the form of a new Fruity Pebbles Cereal Pizookie. BJ’s newest dessert item features a warm sugar cookie base cooked in a deep-dish pan that’s topped with vanilla bean ice cream, and colorful spoonfuls of Fruity Pebbles cereal.

Available at participating BJ’s locations nationwide, the new dessert will only be around for a limited time. Guests who arrive on July 17, BJ’s Free Pizookie Day, will recieve a free Pizookie of their choice with a purchase of $9.95 or more.

Featuring a buttery sugar cookie that’s baked in a deep-dish pan, the cereal Pizookie is topped with vanilla bean ice cream, Cinnamon Toast Crunch Cereal, and cinnamon sugar, essentially taking the magic of CTC cereal and magnifying it tenfold.

If it’s anything like the restaurant chain’s previous Pizookie entries, you may want to bring someone to share with. But I’m not here to tell you how to eat dessert.

The limited-time item is now available at all BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse locations. Stay tuned, as new cereal pizookie flavors will begin unveiling themselves through the rest of the year.

Oreos New Most Stuf Cookies Are MASSIVE, Packing An Absurd Amount Of Creme

When it comes to Oreo cookies, the more creme the better. When Nabisco launched their Double Stuf Oreos, our eyes lit up. When Mega Stuf Oreos came out, we could feel the butterflies dancing in our stomachs. So you can imagine how ecstatic we were to discover that Most Stuf Oreos just dropped.

Nabisco’s new cookie has approximately four times the creme of a regular Oreo cookie, dropping in grocery stores aisles as a HUGE kickoff to 2019.

There had been rumors during Q4 of 2018 that Oreo would be releasing such an item, but now we have tangible confirmation for all the Oreo creme filling lovers out there.

Instagrammer @MunchieBunchie spotted a bag of these new cookies at a RiteAid in Beverly Hills, California, as well as a Target nearby. Because they’re so thick, each bag only comes with about 15 cookies.

Said to have the most creme ever for an Oreo, the new cookies will be available for a limited time. Oreo also launched a few new flavors this month that include Carrot Cake and Love Oreos for Valentine’s Day.

Disney Channel Sends Get Well Cookie To Kevin Smith, Calling Him Kevin James Instead

Earlier this week, movie director and actor Kevin Smith suffered a massive heart attack while shooting his new standup special. He was immediately rushed to the hospital where doctors discovered that his LAD artery was completely clogged.

Losing the LAD artery (also known as the Widow Maker) is pretty much a kiss of death, Smith said. If he had not sought medical attention as soon as he felt the symptoms, Smith would have surely died.

I was trying to do a killer standup special this evening but I might’ve gone too far. After the first show, I felt kinda nauseous. I threw up a little but it didn’t seem to help. Then I started sweating buckets and my chest felt heavy. Turns out I had a massive heart attack. The Doctor who saved my life at the #glendale hospital told me I had 100% blockage of my LAD artery (also known as “the Widow-Maker” because when it goes, you’re a goner). If I hadn’t canceled the second show to go to the hospital, the Doc said I would’ve died tonight. For now, I’m still above ground! But this is what I learned about myself during this crisis: death was always the thing I was most terrified of in life. When the time came, I never imagined I’d ever be able to die with dignity – I assumed I’d die screaming, like my Dad (who lost his life to a massive heart attack). But even as they cut into my groin to slip a stent into the lethal Widow-Maker, I was filled with a sense of calm. I’ve had a great life: loved by parents who raised me to become the individual I am. I’ve had a weird, wonderful career in all sorts of media, amazing friends, the best wife in the world and an incredible daughter who made me a Dad. But as I stared into the infinite, I realized I was relatively content. Yes, I’d miss life as it moved on without me – and I was bummed we weren’t gonna get to make #jayandsilentbobreboot before I shuffled loose the mortal coil. But generally speaking, I was okay with the end, if this was gonna be it. I’ve gotten to do so many cool things and I’ve had so many adventures – how could I be shitty about finally paying the tab. But the good folks at the Glendale hospital had other plans and the expertise to mend me. Total strangers saved my life tonight (as well as my friends @jordanmonsanto & @iamemilydawn, who called the ambulance). This is all a part of my mythology now and I’m sure I’ll be facing some lifestyle changes (maybe it’s time to go Vegan). But the point of this post is to tell you that I faced my greatest fear tonight… and it wasn’t as bad as I’ve always imagined it’d be. I don’t want my life to end but if it ends, I can’t complain. It was such a gift. #KevinSmith

A post shared by Kevin Smith (@thatkevinsmith) on

While he focused on recuperating, fans and colleagues have been sending prayers and well wishes, and even gift baskets to the director.

Disney Channel, in a hilarious goof, sent Smith a ‘Get Well Soon’ cookie — but addressed it to actor Kevin James instead. The director of Dogma and Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back admitted that he often gets confused with Kevin James, who is most famous for his role in The King of Queens and the Paul Blart movie franchise.

As a lifelong Smith fan (minus Yoga Hosers), I was pretty shocked to find out people got the two actors confused with one another. Talking to the Foodbeast staff over the recent events of Smith’s heart attack, however, a few of the team did mistake him for Kevin James.

Whether Disney’s care package was completely accidental or intentional, it definitely seemed to cheer Smith up.

Smith, after his near brush with death, announced on social media that he planned to adopt a new vegetarian lifestyle. Best of luck to you, sir.

Cozy Up By The Fireplace With These Hot Cocoa OREOs

We’re finally drawing closer to winter and looking for something sweet to get intimate with as the air gets chilly outside. As we make some piping hot cocoa to warm our bones, we’re desperately looking for the perfect snack to pair our beverage with. Looks like Oreo may just have the thing.

Oreo just released a brand-new flavor for the winter season: Hot Cocoa.

According to Brand Eating, the new item boasts Oreo’s classic chocolate cookie with a hot cocoa-flavored creme filling.

So far, some have said it tastes similar to popular hot chocolate brand Swiss Miss, while others say it doesn’t taste all that different from the original Oreo flavor.

Looks like we’ll need to try a pack for ourselves. Now all we need is a log, a match, and Al Green’s greatest hits to get this sensual evening started.

Popeyes Threw Their Chicken Tenders In Cookie Dough And The Results Are Irresistible

Popeyes, known for some insanely good fast food chicken, is trying something a little curious. The fried chicken chain announced the national release of a sweet new item that’s sure to turn some heads.

While not exactly chicken covered in a layer of chocolate chip cookie batter (though that would that be a sight), the new Sweet & Crunchy Tenders are made with a shortbread cookie coating that provides both a sweet flavor and crunchy texture.

Foodbeast’s resident fried chicken lover and J. Cole hater Reach, fellow writer Ralph, and myself decided to head over to the nearest Popeyes to try this new item for ourselves. There was a sizable wait for the strips, since they were a pretty popular item even in the early days of launching.

Once we did finally got to dig into some, I’d say that the batter wasn’t overwhelming enough to be considered a full-fledged cookie crust and, thankfully, far from gimmicky. In fact, it was a nice subtle sweetness when paired with the hot chicken meat. Not bad.

“Popeye’s continues their streak of ‘shit that they keep doing right.'” said Reach.

Patrons of Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen will find the new Sweet & Crunchy Tenders from now through June 25. May we recommend some of their Blackened Ranch dipping sauce?
