This Tasting Menu Gets Hotter And Hotter With Each Course

Imagine eating a meal that gets progressively spicier with each course. Sure, your appetizer starts tame. But when dessert rolls around, get ready for a couple million Scoville (the unit that measures how spicy a chili is) to hit your palate. Sounds like a method of torture, right? On paper, sure. But the silver lining to this scorching scenario is that it doesn’t sacrifice flavor and deliciousness at all. This is the one of a kind aspect about the WP24 restaurant’s new summer ‘Bring the Heat’ tasting menu.

Developed by Chef John Lechleidner, the Bring the Heat menu features six courses that get  progressively hotter via the chilies incorporated in each dish. For example, the appetizer, chili Dan Dan noodles, starts off with mild Fresno chilies that clock in at a manageable 8,000 Scoville. Fast forward to the last dessert course, a peach cobbler incorporating Carolina Reapers that singe meters at 2,000,000 Scoville.

“The special summer menu is designed to showcase chilis as not only a source of heat, but a source of flavor,” shared Chef Lechleidner. “Balancing the heat across multiple courses encourages guests to dine beyond their usual boundaries.”

However strong your boundaries are when it comes to spiciness will be tested, for sure. But at least you’re savoring the flavor the whole way.

The ‘Bring the Heat’ menu is only available for a limited time, up until Labor Day weekend and is $29 per person with $8 add on for the sixth dessert course.

Thanks To The Internet, Chili’s Secret Boss Burger Is Now Available Nationwide

When you create something as epic as a five-meat burger, you can expect the internet to come rushing in, demanding a taste.

boss burger

That just happened with Chili’s secret Boss Burger, a 1,650 calorie behemoth that recently went through a test launch in three separate cities.

For those who haven’t heard of it yet, Chili’s secret burger is a veritable Valhalla of meat. A half-pound patty is topped with brisket, pulled rib meat, jalapeño cheddar sausage, and bacon.

Sounds like a lot of food, but that’s just the protein. There’s also cheddar, ranch, BBQ sauce, lettuce, and tomato piled on to round out the colossal creation.

Chili’s announced the burger to the world by refraining from telling the public exactly where the Boss was. It led to what the chain describes as a “overwhelmingly positive response” from both their markets and the internet. Those who didn’t have the burger were clamoring to find out where it was to get a taste for themselves.

You no longer have to hunt for the Boss Burger, though, as Chili’s has decided that the feedback has merited a full-scale national launch. Every location now has it on their menu, meaning you don’t have to go on a mission to find it anymore.

Chili’s has also confirmed to Foodbeast that the Boss Burger is now a permanent item, so there’s no rush to go in and try it. Unless you want bragging rights amongst the squad to be the first to take it down, that is.

If You’ve Been To Chili’s Lately, Check Your Credit Card Right Now

If you’ve been to Chili’s within the last couple of months, you might want to check your card statements because the popular family restaurant announced that its payment system was recently compromised.

Brinker International, who owns Chili’s Grill and Bar, formally announced that a data breach was found in their system, May 11.

“We believe that malware was used to gather payment card information including credit or debit card numbers as well as cardholder names from our payment-related systems for in-restaurant purchases at certain Chili’s restaurants,” Brinker said in a statement.

Brinker also believes that the breach could have occurred within the months of March and April, so if you enjoyed some of Chili’s baby back ribs in that time, make sure that some creep isn’t using your identity to get $300 worth of lingerie at Victoria’s Secret.

The breach is still under investigation, as they’ve brought in a forensics team to get to the bottom of this, but apart from that, they’ve not given specifics on what kind of malware was found, nor how many people were potentially affected.

As with all data breach situations, make sure to monitor your payment cards carefully, and if you see any suspicious activity, report it immediately.

Chili’s Launches New ‘Boss Burger’ Stacked With 5 Meats You Have To Hunt Down

Most culinary quests involve obtaining rare-to-find, delicious items that are worth the trip to the destination. (I’m currently on a quest for a restaurant that serves authentic Greek pastitsio, if anyone wants to help me out). Chili’s has decided to give its fans a similar mission, launching a behemoth of a burger that’s gonna require some tracking down to locate.

The new Boss Burger lives up to its name, with an astounding five meats stacked on it. These include a half-pound beef patty, bacon, jalapeno-cheddar smoked sausage, pulled rib meat, and smoked brisket. Cheddar, ranch, BBQ sauce, lettuce, and tomato round out the fillings to this colossal creation, which checks in at 1,650 calories.

You need a lot of gusto to take this burger down in one shot, but even more is required to find it in the first place.

Chili’s debuted the Boss Burger at their test kitchen recently, and everyone there had a chance to try it for themselves. Since then, it has been a test release at a few select locations around the nation. Chili’s isn’t disclosing which of their restaurants has the burger, so if you really want a piece of this, you’ll have to do some sleuthing yourself.

We’ll also be on the lookout for where this massive meal is being served at, and will update this page as we track locations down.

Deals Fast Food

Take a Break With These Sweet Tax Day Restaurant Deals

April is the cruelest month. With lilacs dying off because of the bipolar weather, worrying over an array of tax forms and having an existential crisis as you realize how scant your income has been this past year really puts a damper on things.

However, while you scrounge out those old receipts to find any form of a tax benefit, there are some companies out there that have you in mind.

Whether you need some tropical shaved ice to cool you off or a free pizza with a big ass mouse, this tax day doesn’t have to be as dire as it might seem.

Here are a few spots offering a deal on that fateful Tuesday:

Great American Cookies

The 1977 classically American cookie company is once again sharing some sweetness on a bitter day by giving away one free Cookies & Cream cookie to any individual aware of the deal. Although you don’t need any proof of taxes to receive the cookie, the sullen, groggy, and broken look will fare as evidence.

Hot Dog on a Stick

While it might not be the first place you would run to, Hot Dog on a Stick is still attempting to alleviate any stress the day might bring by offering one veggie or turkey dog to each customer. Nothing amazing, but if you happen to be in a mall and you see one, now you know.

Chuck E. Cheese’s

A post shared by Chuck E. Cheese (@chuckecheeses) on

Okay, this one is amazing. You get an entire large pizza for free with a purchase of one large pizza from April 18-20. I don’t know if you remember these pizzas, but they tasted like how playing Mortal Kombat against the big, sweaty competitive kid and then beating him felt. I mean, you have to have a kid to get in, but that’s not a problem, just go to the Party City that’s invariably across the street and find one.

A post shared by Cinnabon (@cinnabon) on

This one is pretty delicious. Anyone who follows the scent of these succulent little morsels to the source will be treated with two Cinnabon bites. While it might not be worth it to go out of your way to get only two of these tiny little dudes, consider the fact that most of the deals on this page can be found in a mall, so just go to a mall and take in the sweet tax day deals.

Hungry Howie’s

Though locations are sparse, this is a pizza joint on a level above Little Caesars and they’re giving away a one topping medium pizza for 15 cents with the purchase of a one-topping large pizza at regular menu price using the promo code 18TAXDAY. The deal is valid for online carryout purchases only through 4/15-4/17 at participating locations. Can’t really go wrong with pizza for 15 cents.

Piada Italian Street Food

If you’re craving something more Italian than pizza, then look no further than Piada Italian Street Food which will be handing out a free blackberry lemonade with every purchase on Tuesday.

Potbelly Sandwiches

So if you’re on the West Coast this isn’t a great deal, mainly because there are no locations there. However, if you’re close to one of these shops, try to get their app and sign up for their perks program. Customers who sign up for Potbelly Perks by downloading the Potbelly app (iPhone / Android) or online will receive a free sandwich (the free sandwich offer ends until 75,000 sandwiches have been given away). Those already enrolled in Potbelly Perks can enjoy a BOGO Sandwich that will automatically load in to the app for redemption on Tax Day (April 17). For a fast food sandwich joint, this one knows what it’s doing, and what it’s doing is delicious sandwiches.

A post shared by SONIC Drive-In (@sonicdrivein) on

For when you don’t feel like moving too much after you’ve experienced once again how bleak your economic life is, Sonic is the place to go. Without even stepping outside of your car — hell you can even keep the car going and listen to a podcast about why living a healthy life is the key to stability — all while chowing down on a half-priced burger at any time of the day, because this is America.

Kona Ice

A post shared by Kona Ice (@konaice) on

The traditional shaved ice company is hoping to help the hot headed tax payers by offering a free cup of shaved ice on their National “Chill Out” day, which is really just tax day. If you like shaved ice, this aint’ a bad pit-stop on your Tuesday.

Finally, something that’ll actually help everyone in misery. For $6 you can get a pretty average blueberry or pineapple margarita from this fine establishment. Hey think about it, you get a pretty significant amount back for your taxes in a few weeks, right? Just consider it already in the bank and use this time in life to reflect. No better place to do that than Chili’s at like 11 AM, sitting next to a 70 year-old woman wearing stilettos, with a chihuahua in her leather purse, who smells vaguely like your grandmother’s dishwasher.

Well, that’s basically all of the deals you’ll want to consider. I mean there’s other stuff, like Quizno’s, but it isn’t worth it. If you have to be a member of something to get a deal that’ll save you a whopping $4 on an average sandwich, that might just stress you out more.

Chili’s Twitter Will Give Legitimate Answers To Your Life Questions

Chili’s is known for its baby back ribs and burgers, but one thing you probably didn’t know you can get from the fast-casual restaurant is solid answers to life’s questions.

The restaurant made that evident on Wednesday, as Chili’s Twitter effectively responded to a ranting customer.

Twitter user @subtlebutler, out of Austin, TX went on a tirade about how we don’t ask each other enough questions, and rely on forums too much. His frame of logic was that it’s a lot more effective to ask the people around you for help with questions instead of having to wait for some rando to answer your question on Yahoo or Quora. In the midst of listing all the better options that you can turn to for answers, he said “… or chilis (sic). Sometimes @chilis knows.”

Someone who was following @subtlebutler’s rant, followed up by saying, “I really want to know what questions you have for Chili’s,” so the Texan complied and tweeted out, “My co-pay at my primary care doc is supposed to be $0 but then I always get charged more money later even for regular checkups. WHY CHILIS.”

Without skipping a beat, Chili’s Twitter found its way to this Tweet and actually answered it with:

The internet was stunned by this answer, whether true or not. All of a sudden, Chili’s Twitter account became the answer to life’s torturous problems. Where Wendy’s took on the Twitter persona of being a smart-ass that will roast you, Chili’s went the other way and was actually trying to be helpful.

Twitter users flocked to the thread and started asking their own questions, almost as if they’d spotted the Virgin Mary on a piece of toast, and had to get in on the action:

Chili’s can’t possibly solve your love life, can it?

Then things started getting way too deep

But Chili’s still managed to give some solid advice.

In the end, this guy probably put this whole situation in the right perspective:

Chili’s Cuts 40% Of Menu In Attempt To Go Back To Its Roots

Photo: Mike Mozart on Flickr.

Chili’s is looking to do a hard reset and go back to its roots of burgers, fajitas, and ribs.

Starting September 18th, the sit-down restaurant chain will be taking 40% of its dishes off of the menu. The smaller list of offerings will focus more on Chili’s more iconic items as they aim to improve quality.

Chili’s slashing comes after growing their dish selection into a smorgasbord of variety. At its peak, in January 2017, the menu’s 125 different items aimed to offer “all things to all guests.” The new 75-option “less is more” menu instead refocuses the restaurant and attempts to keep itself from diversifying too much.

Chili’s didn’t give an exact list of which items are leaving its menu. However, its release does mention Mango Chili Tilapia and Crispy Asparagus, so those could be some of the soon-to-be gone dishes. Additionally, Chili’s did mention that it will announce more over its social media feeds, so we could learn more there.

Nonetheless, it’s interesting to see Chili’s taking a brand new direction. We’re definitely curious to see what the final new menu is like when it drops next week.

Fast Food Health News Restaurants

Here’s What 2017’s Unhealthiest Chain Restaurant Meals Look Like [INFOGRAPHIC]

A food trend that we’re seeing more and more of this year is a movement towards more indulgent foods by the food and restaurant industries. From Bacon Mac and Cheese Pizza Rolls to Bacon Queso Burgers and Philly Mac Melts, “cheat day” is becoming more like “every day” on menus across the country. That’s definitely the case with multiple chain restaurants as well. Many have created gluttonous meals that easily go over the amount of food a grown person should normally eat in a day for ONE entree or side dish.

As put together by consumer advocacy group CSPI (Center for Science in the Public Interest), here are some of the worst caloric offenders you can currently find on chain restaurant menus across the USA.

The equivalent of FOUR McDonald’s Sausage McMuffins drizzled with syrup, this mixture of eggs, hamburger, hash browns, and burger toppings is enough to set you back for an entire day on calories alone. With the obscene amounts of cholesterol and sodium in this, you may as well just have the cardiologist there at the table with you, defibrillator in hand.

Visually, this looks like it’s meant to be a platter for four people. Picking the three unhealthiest meats out of four for this platter (chicken tenders, sausage, and baby back ribs over BBQ chicken) should keep you full for at least a day. Based on that amount of sodium, you are gonna need a few pitchers of water to help take this thing down should you consume it single-handedly (which we DON’T recommend).

Dave & Buster’s

I’m not sure what the adult arcade was thinking when they created this dish, but they ended up constructing a true monster of an appetizer. This is what happens when a cheesy quesadilla and a meat-stacked pizza have a baby, and it’s definitely not good for anyone’s cardiac systems. One slice of this shouldn’t be too terrible on its own, but I’d walk away after that for your own health.

Buffalo Wild Wings

Buffalo Wild Wings has created an absolute monstrosity of a burger here, with deep-fried cheese curds, bacon, and spicy mayo all boosting the burger’s nutritional intake to insane heights. Go big or go home is one thing, but this creation is more like go straight to the hospital. Maybe stick to wings next time, BWW.

Texas Roadhouse

Thanks to a mountain of marshmallows and a flood of caramel sauce, Texas Roadhouse managed to conceive a sweet potato that wouldn’t be considered a health food. It’s served alongside a massive POUND of prime rib, Caesar salad, and all-you-can-eat peanuts, rolls, and butter. This steak dinner is probably the fastest one-way ticket to a food coma out there.

The Cheesecake Factory

The Cheesecake Factory is no stranger to gluttonous meals and oversized portions, but these new items are just ridiculous. The new Flying Gorilla probably gets its name from the caloric intake, which is enough to be a meal on its own. Not only that, but the Factory also decided to crank out a Meat Lover’s Pizza in pasta form, served in a creamy, buttery sauce that drives the calorie and saturated fat counts up the charts. Don’t plan on eating for a while after downing one of these meals.

Uno Pizzeria & Grill

We have to finish off any overindulgent meal with dessert, so why not go whole-hog and dive into one with enough calories to get you through a whole day? At Uno Pizzeria and Grill, you can with this titanic piece of chocolate cake that would even have Gabriel Iglesias saying “I’m good.”

All of these cheat day-worthy creations are massive, but you may have not realized it without reading this article or researching online first. Not all chain restaurants and fast food places have calorie counts and nutrition facts on their menus yet, and while a law was passed a couple of years ago to ensure that would happen, it’s been continually delayed and now reopened for public comment. That means that nutritional labeling on all these meals and transparency from restaurants may be even further away, which is why CSPI created this list in the first place.

Hopefully, by reading this list, you’re more informed on how much you’re really eating with this food. We’re not gonna say whether you should eat it or not, that’s up to you. But you should be aware of the nutrition going into your body nonetheless.
