KFC Brings Heat To Their Chicken & Waffles, Nashville Style

When KFC unveiled their version of Chicken & Waffles, fans went crazy, as it only made sense for the fast food restaurant.

Now you can rejoice again, as KFC is releasing a Nashville Hot version, giving a spicy twist on their popular menu item.

The spicy Nashville sauce-covered chicken patties will be sandwiched between two Belgian Liege waffles, with a side of Mrs. Butterworth’s syrup to pour over the entree.

This isn’t KFC’s first foray into Nashville Hot Chicken, first introducing the limited time bone-in offering in 2016. After some time away, KFC will actually bringing back the Nashville chicken to enjoy in either a breast, two-piece, or three-piece tender combo.

Now the mouth tingling chicken will have a little sweetness to accompany it.

The Nashville Hot offerings will be available starting November 18 at participating locations for a limited time, so make sure to get your hands on some before they’re gone.

KFC Chicken & Waffles Return Nationwide With New ‘Big Basket’ Option

KFC’s debut of Chicken & Waffles at the end of 2018 was one of their most successful limited-time offerings of all time. Some restaurants ran out in as little as two weeks due the high demand.

With that in mind, the fried chicken empire chose to make this item their fastest ever to return back to stores nationwide. Their relaunch, happening just four months after the initial release, is literally bigger than before.

In this limited-time drop of the Chicken & Waffles, KFC chose to bring a larger size of their platter to the table. This new offering, called the Big Basket, consists of two Belgian-style liege waffles and your choice of four tenders, three pieces of dark meat, or two pieces of white meat. It’ll be sold for $7.99.

The other options from last time, including the smaller platter variation and the Chicken & Waffles sandwich, will also be back on the menu. A standard basket consists of one waffle and any of the above chicken piece offerings (just with one less piece each), while the sandwich uses two waffles as the “buns.”

All of these Chicken & Waffles offerings will be available from March 23rd until either April 29th or stores sell out, whichever comes first.

Chicken & Waffles Pizza Is Officially Coming To Papa John’s This Year

Over the past couple of weeks, Papa John’s has been throwing up polls on Twitter asking fans to choose what the next pizza creation they debut should be. In an overwhelming majority, folks have asked for the pizza chain to bring chicken & waffles pizza to life.

While there’s no official timetable as to when the pizza will launch yet, Papa John’s has released a concept photo of what the pizza will look like. The Hot Honey Chicken & Waffles Pizza will be topped with pieces of fried chicken and waffle crumbles, bacon, cheese, and a spicy honey drizzle.

The brunch-inspired ‘za had a commanding lead in the fan vote from the start, and final results gave it 70% of the votes compared to the alternative, Huevos Rancheros.

Other options that didn’t make the first cut included a pulled pork “Roast Pizza” and pizza dippers, or as Papa John’s called it, the “Un-Pizza.” Whether any of those will get a chance in the future to find a home on the menu as well remains to be seen.

Chicken And Waffles Cereal Is Coming To Walmart In An Exclusive, Limited Drop

One of the most popular culinary pairings across the United States just got turned into a breakfast cereal.

Fresh from the creative minds at Post Cereal, this Chicken & Waffles cereal contains pieces that both look and taste like the classic combo. You’ll be getting a hit of both sweet and savory here, which is going to be an exclusive drop at Walmart.

This release is a part of the “Honey Brunches of Oats” collection. The other brunch item getting twisted into cereal for this launch is Maple Bacon Donuts, which as you might expect, comes in the shape of mini donuts.

Both will be available in a limited-time drop at select Walmart stores across the country, which should have them in stock by March 7th at the latest.

With brunch totally covered in cereal form, all that’s left to decide is whether you serve these in a bowl of milk or mimosa. I’m leaning towards the latter.

KFC Is Launching Fried Chicken And Waffles Nationwide

KFC was spotted testing fried chicken and waffles earlier this year, building excitement that the chain might finally start selling the legendary dish. We now have confirmation that KFC’s version of the classic combo is about to launch nationwide, November 12, in both platter and sandwich form.

KFC’s iteration of chicken and waffles will use their Extra Crispy Chicken, and swap out the traditional buttermilk waffle for sweet Belgian Liege-style waffles, made with a yeast-raised dough and pearl sugar to create the sweet, crunchy exterior.

Customers will have the choice between whole pieces or tenders to pair with the waffles, and the entire dish comes with a side of Mrs. Butterworth’s syrup.

Prices start at $5.49 and change based on what chicken you choose.

KFC also has a second version of chicken and waffles on its menu in the form of a sandwich. Two of the liege-style waffles act as the bread, sandwiching a Hot Honey-sauced chicken breast. The sandwich will be sold for $5.99.

Both iterations that KFC is debuting of the iconic duo will be available on the menu through the end of the year.

Chicken And Waffles Gets Leveled Up With This Teriyaki Maple Syrup

Chicken and waffles is a time-honored staple that’s become beloved across the United States. The combo usually consists of the simple pairing crispy poultry and light, fluffy waffle. You can expand on this, though, by going meta and breading the chicken WITH the waffles.

Waffle-crusted chicken meshes together the classic combo, but can also be served with waffles to further elaborate that flavorsome relationship. That’s what has happened with these wings, as their breading consists of a blended waffle crumb that adds some sweetness and lightness to the batter.

Of course, no chicken and waffles is complete without a bangin’ sauce, and this one takes maple syrup to a new level. The combo of mirin, Soy Vay Veri Veri Teriyaki, and maple syrup gives an Asian influence to the American classic that accentuates the savory while bringing out the sweet.

Since these are wings, you can make as many of them as you want, and either serve them as a snack or entree, complete with waffles to soak up the syrupy goodness.

Below is the full recipe and ingredients you need for this elevated take on a classic dish.

For chicken:

6-8 Cups Canola Oil

8 Chicken Wings (“Party Wings”)

1 Cup Corn Starch

2 Cups Flour

2 Teaspoons Spanish Paprika

1 Teaspoon Cayenne Pepper

6-8 Frozen Waffles

4 Large Eggs

¼ Cup Low Fat Buttermilk

Salt & Pepper To Taste

For Teriyaki Maple Syrup:

1 Cup Soy Vay Veri Veri Teriyaki Marinade & Sauce

¾ Cup Maple Syrup or Pancake Syrup

¼ Cup Mirin (Japanese Cooking Wine)

1 Tablespoon Unsalted Butter

**Step 1:

Place oil in pot and heat to 350 Degrees Fahrenheit.

**Step 2:

Toast frozen waffles. Once toasted, pulse waffles in food processor to create waffle crumbs. Set aside.

**Step 3:

In a bowl, whisk together eggs and buttermilk until thoroughly mixed. In a separate bowl, combine the cornstarch, flour, paprika, and cayenne.

**Step 4:

Take the chicken wings and season with salt & pepper. Dredge the wings in the flour mix until they are dry. Shake off any excess flour and submerge into wet egg batter to coat. Immediately transfer wings from wet batter and coat with waffle crumbs, patting the waffles into the chicken to ensure a crust is formed.

**Step 5:

Fry the chicken wings for approximately 7-10 minutes until golden brown (or until internal temp reaches 165 Degrees Fahrenheit).

**Step 6:

Combine mirin and Soy Vay Veri Veri Teriyaki Sauce into a pot on medium heat and reduce slightly. Add maple syrup and reduce to sauce consistency. Add a pat of cold butter and swirl in right before serving.

**Step 7:

Serve chicken with a drizzle of the teriyaki maple syrup or on the side for dunking.
