Checkers & Rally’s Are Giving Out Free Meals to Healthcare Workers

Known for their “Crazy Good Food,” Checkers & Rally’s have shifted their focus towards crazy good hospitality.

Now, at all 250 locations nationwide, first responders and medical workers can get a free small combo at the fast food chain, solely by showing up in their uniform.

Each combo includes a small order of fries, a small drink, and a choice of one of the following entrees: Big Buford (which may be the best name out there for a fast food item), Cheese Champ, Chili Dog, BBQ Bacon Roadhouse, Half-Pound Chicken Bites, Spicy Chicken Sandwich, Baconzilla, 5-piece Wings, or a Deep Sea Double.

The restaurant’s employees will also benefit from the policy, as they’ve been deemed “essential workers,” and will get a free small meal for every shift they work.

This is in addition to the $100,000 they donated to No Kid Hungry that’s estimated to provide a million meals to children, and certainly shows a commitment to helping the communities that surround each location, which is rare for such a large chain.

Hats off, Checkers & Rally’s.

Rapper Rick Ross Swears Checkers Has The ‘Best Burger In The Game’

It’s hard to argue food with a man who has made hit records talking about his belly, so when Rick Ross proclaims a food as the best, you’ve gotta listen.

In a Bro Bible video where Ross talked about his upbringing in Carol City, Florida, the rapper reminisced on the days when he and his boys would hang out at Checkers, eat a bunch of burgers and fries, and have memorable conversations. That’s why Ross went back to his hometown and bought the old Checkers on his block.

“Twenty years later, I’m in a financial position where, whatever I want to have, I can have it,” Ross said in the short video documentary. “I want checkers.”

I think we can all relate to Ross on this one, regardless of what your favorite burger. Here in California, our go-to spot is In-N-Out, and regardless of your opinion of the burger, between the childhood memories, and delicious burgers, I’ll swear to the death the In-N-Out’s the best.

So big ups to Ricky Rozay for staying humble, even through his fame, and going back to his hood to catch some burgers with the homies.

Pretty Sweet: New Oreo and Cheesecake Stuffed Waffle Cones from Checkers

There’s nothing like finally reaching the chocolate tip at the bottom of a Nestle Drumstick. But these new Stuffed Waffle Cones from Checkers/Rally’s get pretty damn close.

Grub Grade reports,

“Once you taste our new Stuffed Waffle Cones, dessert will never be the same again. We took our classic Vanilla Cone to the next level, packing it with decadent cheesecake filling and strawberry topping. And we put a new twist on our Twist Cone by piling on crushed cookies and rich creme. No matter which one you choose, you win.”

The only caveat? That judging by the promotional photos, these guys aren’t so much “stuffed” as merely sprinkled with cheesecake and Oreo pieces throughout. Which isn’t bad per se, but I would have liked to see a cone that was actually “stuffed” – deliciously creamy Oreos and fruity cheesecake nestled between two crispy layers of waffle wafer, and then covered with ice cream. It’s a dessert within a dessert around a dessert.

Oh Is That How You Use Them? New KFC Chicken Dip’ems + Other Branded Dippables

Or: “So Apparently We’ve Been Eating Chicken Tenders All Wrong”

Fast food is confusing. Between the million different restaurants and the million different menu items and the million and one wrong ways to use a ketchup cup, sometimes it’d be nice if someone would just take our hands and walk us through the eating process, lest we wind up trying to suck barbecue sauce up our butts.

Luckily KFC (and Rally’s and to an extent Popeye’s) have recently taken it upon themselves to do just that with new “dippable”-branded chicken nuggets and tenders — I can finally see the light!

Now, the problem here isn’t so much the products themselves — chicken nuggets are awesome; dipping sauces are, likewise, awesome. The problem is that all three of these brands have chosen to market new products which explicitly spell out the relationship between the nuggets and their sauces (as if we didn’t already know), and they did it all within a year (in most cases, even months) of one another.

And to add insult to injury, KFC’s new Dip’ems (much like their new Chicken Littles) are in many ways just a rebranding of one of their old menu staples, the Colonel’s Crispy Strips (which, in case you didn’t know, can also be “dipped…in one of [KFC’s] flavorful sauces,” according to the company’s website).

Here’s an idea for any would-be dipping-branding hopefuls: do us a favor, do what McDonald’s did and just market the awesome new sauces we know you have. Because seriously, NEW Creamy Buffalo, NEW Orange Ginger and NEW Bacon Ranch sound incredible. I just prefer to have my chicken pandering-instructions-free.

Chain Launches a Fry Lover’s Burger, Obviously Topped With French Fries

It’s called the Fry Lover’s Burger, and it’s exactly that — a burger filled to the brim with seasoned fries, just like you used to construct in your teenage years (maybe you still do, in that case, mad respect to you).

The burger, a product of Checkers and Rally’s Drive-In Restaurants, the largest chain of double drive-thru restaurants in the United States, is made with a 100% beef, hand-seasoned hamburger patty, topped with the brand’s seasoned fries, a slice of American cheese, pickles, ketchup, mayo and mustard on a toasted sesame seed bun.

According to the following commercial, the burger will run you just a $1. Not bad for a burger topped with fries.

Shot Glass Checkers Set

How to turn any game into a drinking game:

Step 1 Add alcohol.

That’s pretty much it folks! Fight me on that observation if you must, but you have to admit that checkers would be about a thousand times more fun if you had to take a shot every time one of your pieces got jumped. I’m also pretty sure alcohol would improve checkers as a spectator sport seeing as how more fights would definitely break out over the course of a game.
