3 MAGICAL Cocktails That Let You Play With Dry Ice, Fire & Smoke

Have you ever wished you could just reach right through the screen of your favorite video game, grab all those glimmering gold tokens, sparkly gemstones, and other shiny reward items, and bring them back with you into the real world? Perhaps as little souvenirs? Maybe it’s just me, but the concept of bringing fictional creations to life just seems so…magical.

And when it comes to magic, King Digital Entertainment’s mobile game Bubble Witch 2 Saga (iOS / Androidis about as  magical as it gets!  So, let’s just take a second to appreciate the fact that we’ve been graced with three enchanting cocktail recipes, which were actually inspired by three potions used in the game. Below is where you’ll find a mini spell-book for brewing up the perfect Oracle, Sparkle Shower, and Aiming Line potions, each incorporating Earthen elements like fire, smoke, and ice, so too you can embrace your inner Bubble Witch.

In Bubble Witch 2 Saga, the Oracle potion is coveted for its ability to add extra bubbles to the shooter queue, allowing you to last longer in a level. This Oracle is coveted for its strong fruity taste and red-hot look, thanks to a combination of gin, Campari, pomegranate liqueur, and specially-prepared egg white. Did we mention it’s made with fire? Full recipe here.

Aiming Line

The Aiming Line potion is meant to enhance bubble-popping precision and accuracy in Bubble Witch 2 Saga. Its cocktail version takes inspiration from the potion’s gorgeous blue color to yield an ocean of hues of bubbly blues, complete with an eerie layer of “mist” from floating chunks of dry ice. Get the details here.

Sparkle Shower

Glowing just as golden bright as the actual Sparkle Shower potion, this cocktail explodes with intense and juicy flavors of Pimms, Scotch, sweet honey, grapefruit and lemon juices, and San Pellegrino Aranciata. This Awesome Cocktail Recipe Calls For FIRE And SMOKE

Glowing brighter than a shooting star, the Sparkle Shower is here to make all of your drinkable dreams come true. It’s modeled after the golden Sparkle Shower potion in Bubble Witch 2 Saga (on Android and iOS), and just one sip is sure to make you sparkle as well!

With a combination of Pimms, Scotch, honey, lemon and grapefruit juices, and San Pellegrino Aranciata, you can brew up your very own Sparkle Shower without touching a single wand. A quick trick to create smoke at the top will give the potion a magical finish.

Sparkle Shower

1.5oz Pimms

.5oz Scotch

.75oz Lemon Juice

.5oz Grapefruit Juice

.5oz Honey

3 oz San Pellegrino Aranciata

Lemon Peel, for garnish

Glass vessel with wide mouth

Piece of wood (almond, oak, mesquite, etcetera — chips or planks)

1)   Prepare the cocktail: combine all drink ingredients in a shaker. Set aside.

2)   Light the wood and place the glass or vessel over burning embers to trap smoke inside. You can even choose to use the drinking glass you intend to serve the finished cocktail in, but if using the glass directly, the effect will be lesser than in a separate vessel.

3)   Capture a large, dense amount of smoke and strain cocktail in vessel before service. The strained cocktail will push smoke out of the vessel and fill it with the wood character.

4)   Serve immediately.

Here’s How You Can Use FIRE To Make This RED-HOT Cocktail

Behold the “Oracle,” an original cocktail inspired by the bubblific Oracle potion in Bubble Witch 2 Saga. This hot pot burns as passionate and crimson red as flame itself!

What gives the drink its edge is its spicy mix of gin, Campari, pomegranate liqueur, lemon juice, and egg white. What gives the drink its spark is using actual fire! In this recipe, the Oracle harnesses the power of fire to whip up one epic, energetic potion that’s sure to get you fired up too.

Embrace this playful element to create drinks with fiery flair—safely—with the following instruction. Note that when it comes to preheating the glass or spirit, this technique should only be used for lower proofs, since you run the risk of shattering your glass.

.5oz Gin

1oz Campari

.5oz Pomegranate liqueur

Stagg Jr Bourbon Whiskey

.5oz Lemon Juice

1 Egg White

1oz IPA reverse dry whipped into egg white and double strained for a red “cotton candy-like” head

Orange peel

Raw sugar, to garnish rim

Coupe glass

Shaker tin

Double strainer

Hawthorne strainer

Fire extinguisher, for safety

1)   Combine all drink ingredients in a shaker minus the whiskey, orange, sugar garnish, and fire—that comes in a second.

2)   Make sure you have everything you need in reach before you put ice in the shaker, including the double strainer, Hawthorne, lighter, fire extinguisher. This is for time—the glass WILL break if you let it burn too long.

3)   Add ice and whiskey to your glass, then light it up. Place the orange peel on the rim of the glass to get it nice and toasty. Shake up the tin and set your Hawthorne next to your double strainer ready to go.

4)   Grab the orange peel and express its oil right over the flame, dropping it in the glass as it flairs up. Immediately grab the shaker and double strain over the flame to douse it out.

Here’s How To Use Dry Ice In This Halloween ‘Potion’ Cocktail

If you’re in need of a serious power boost, consider the Aiming Line, a “potion” drink based off the Aiming Line potion in Bubble Witch 2 Saga. If you’re lucky, it just might enhance your strength and precision too, just like the real Aiming Line!

This cocktail certainly kicks things up a notch with a formula consisting of vodka, Contratto Bianco, prosecco, and Giffard Curaçao to yield a hue of deep sea blue. Chunks of dry ice sit at the top of the ocean-like “potion” like icebergs as they dissipate into a foggy mist. Bottoms up!

Aiming Line

.75 oz Vodka

1oz Contratto Bianco

0.25-.50oz Giffard Blue Curaçao

.5oz Lemon

2 oz Prosecco

Dry Ice

Blueberries, for garnish

Dry Ice

Protective gloves

Ice chipping tool

1)   Combine all drink ingredients with the exception of dry ice and Prosecco in a shaker and mix. Then, strain liquid into a glass.

2)   Using non latex plastic gloves and a chipping tool, break dry ice into medium pieces (think regular, crushed ice) and add to drink.

3)   Pour Prosecco over drink contents to activate the smokey effect of the dry ice. The simple trick creates a grand effect that doesn’t impact the flavor, but instead will give the potion an eerie layer of thin mist.
