Starbucks And Nike Collaborate To Create A Beautiful Pair Of Sneakers

Nike and Starbucks, two of the biggest brands in the world (ranking in at 17 and 67, respectively), have teamed up in order to bring us the next pair of shoes we don’t need but dammit we want.

This isn’t the first time two giants from the food and fashion industry have collaborated, and certainly won’t be the last.

The Nike SB Dunk Low Premium Starbucks edition shoes have a brown suede-looking canvas with subtle, streaky swirls of khaki, made to mimic both the steam coming off of a fresh cup of coffee and the wrinkly, rich brown tone of a handful of coffee beans. The Nike Swoosh is painted in classic white with the standard Starbucks green outline, along with the heel, tongue and base of the shoes.

The shoes are available now for a limited time in select Nike retailers. These shoes, as do many of the shoes in the Nike SB Premium line, retail at $100. Personally, I think the shoes look dope as hell, and I would buy them for the clean-looking color scheme alone. Of course, I would try to get away with calling them the Andes Mints Edition or something, because “Starbucks shoes” is just too much.

Alton Brown Teams Up With Umami Burger To Create The “Alton Burger”

Alton Brown, the famed host of the long-running Food Network show Good Eats (along with a slew of other remarkable accomplishments), has officially teamed up with Umami Burger to unveil their newest addition to their Artist Series: the Alton Burger.

Umami Burger, while mostly located in California, is constantly growing and adding more and more locations, with a handful of them popping up on the East Coast. For those who don’t know, Umami is the fabled long-lost flavor that tends to live outside of the realm of traditional tastes like sour, sweet, salty and bitter. It makes sense that Alton Brown would team up with a delicious and inventive company to make his newest creation.

The Alton Burger will be paying tribute to traditional southern breakfasts by combining the best things from them and rolling them up into one sandwich. The burger features a special beef patty made with bacon lardons mixed in, some cheddar cheese, miso-maple bacon, smashes cheesy tots, fried egg, fried sage, and perhaps the most interesting ingredient of all…house-made coffee ketchup.

Brown will be another celebrity added to the list of big names that have previously made burgers for Umami’s Artist Series, including Mindy Kaling, Slash, Andy Samberg, The Black Keys, and more. For every Alton Burger purchased, Umami Burger will donate $1 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Brown Sprite, the Crystal Pepsi Parody

Screen Shot 2013-02-28 at 11.36.51 AM

Right now, boasts the commercial for new “Brown Sprite”, the apocryphal follow-up to the early 90s Crystal Pepsi, the future isn’t as clear as it once was.

Right now . . . the world is dark.

(Right) now . . . there’s a soda to match.

While you’ll never see this faux-mercial on television, or this questionably “enlightened” product on the shelves, you can still enjoy the parody video, directed by David Ward about the inventor of Crystal Pepsi stepping up to bat again twenty years later.

It should be noted he plays the commercial on a VCR. Remember those? The nineties, amirite?
