Dairy Queen Teamed Up With ‘Guardians 2’ For Their New Brookie-Filled Blizzards

Hold on tight. Dairy Queen’s got a new Blizzard that’ll transport you to another galaxy.

The fast food chain is teaming up with Marvel to help promote the new movie “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” with a Guardians-themed Blizzard and a campaign that’ll have you digging out your old cassette player. If you still have one, that is.

DQ’s new Blizzard, called the Guardians Awesome Mix, takes Brookies (a mashup treat of brownies and cookies) and chops them up into vanilla soft serve, caramel, and choco chunks. You can get the Blizzard on its own, substituted as a Mini Blizzard into the $5 Buck Lunch for an additional dollar, or as part of the new “Guardian Snacks” item, which is a Mini Blizzard served alongside three hot pretzel sticks and queso. These items all launch today, so you can head on over anytime to snag one for yourself.

Additionally, DQ will be launching a nostalgic but fun campaign around the hit movie called “Mission Mixtape” at noon CDT on April 26th. They’ll be giving away 1,000 exclusive cassettes on the Mission Mixtape website, each of which contains unofficial bonus tracks related to Guardians 2 and a special code for prizes like signed movie posters or DQ gift cards.

The catch here is that you have to supply your own cassette player if you’re able to snag one of these exclusive retro cassettes.

In trade for doing this sweet promo, DQ looks like it will be getting some kind of feature in the upcoming Guardians movie. Some exclusive behind-the-scenes video shows filming occurring at both a retro and newer version of the iconic restaurant.

Maybe the whole gang gets together for some Brookie-filled Blizzards at the end, Avengers style? Guess we’ll have to watch the movie when it releases on May 5th to find out.

A Trader Joe’s In New York Suffered A Terrible Fate During This Blizzard

Everybody loves when things don’t have roofs: convertibles, football fields, water parks, you name it. Unfortunately, when it’s the roof of your work that comes down, it makes for a pretty shitty Monday, as if they weren’t already shitty enough.

According to state-run New Jersey website, One Trader Joe’s in Westfield, New Jersey, dealt with that exactly, as the roof began collapsing due to the weight of the snow brought on by one of the strongest blizzards we’ve seen this century.

The roof began crumbling around 2 p.m. on Saturday, although thankfully no one was hurt. The store was obviously closed and will reopen again once the damage has been repaired.

As an option for the employees, the corporate office has offered to transplant them to surrounding locations until the damages have been mended and fixed.

Looks like no one ever taught Trader Joe’s how to “raise the roof.”

Bros Play Beer Pong in the Middle of New York’s Massive Snowstorm [WATCH]

These gentlemen bros won’t let a massive snowstorm get them down.

In the mists of yesterday’s blizzard in New York City, a game of beer pong became the talk of the Internet. Thanks to a transportation ban, folks were prohibited from commuting past 11pm. Because the streets in the East Village were practically empty, a group of bros decided it was the perfect opportunity to get in a game of beer pong.

Passersby caught video of the gents intensely focused on this epic game in the middle of the snow-covered New York street.

Check out the video below to watch a bunch of 20-something guys get hammered in the snow. It’s safe to say, they got pretty into it.

Looters Raid Abandoned Doritos Truck to Survive Massive Snowstorm

If you’re stuck in a life-altering snowstorm, you’re pretty much going to do whatever it takes to survive. This includes hopping into an abandoned Doritos truck and looting it for sustenance. Such was the case for a group of men braving a massive lake-effect snowstorm in South Buffalo, NY, reports Syracuse.

Lake-effect snow is created when cold winds travel over warmer lake water, picking up water vapor and speed before freezing up. It appears the driver of a Doritos truck was caught in the snow and decided to abandon ship once the storm grew intense.

Soon after, photos appeared on social media depicting men entering the now-abandoned truck and leaving with snacks. These photos were accompanied by many Doritos-related puns.

The historic snowstorm left up to 150 vehicles stuck in the snow on the New York State Thruway with at least five deaths caused by the storm.

All Cool Ranch jokes aside, Gov. Andrew Cuomo has declared a state of emergency in the area that extends into Central New York.

Candy Cane Blizzard Returns to Dairy Queen

Since Christmas is only a few weeks away, Dairy Queen is bringing back their Candy Cane Chill Blizzard Treat for it’s annual run throughout the month of December. The seasonal item is  available as a regular Blizzard, a Blizzard in a chocolate waffle cone, or a Royal Shake.

The Candy Cane Chill packs candy cane pieces and chopped up chunks of chocolate blended into soft-serve vanilla ice cream. However, while Candy Cane is a delicious holiday favorite, I’d love to see them mix it up a bit with some new candy cane flavors. SweetTarts Candy Canes are at the top of my Christmas list. Maybe next year, Santa will deliver.

DQ Offers Pumpkin Pie Shake for November

Last month Dairy Queen offered the classic Pumpkin Pie as October’s Blizzard of the month. This month, since the Blizzard flavor was so shockingly popular (who would’ve guessed?), the big DQ has decided to extend its stay and keep it through November. Except, this time it’s Remixed.

What does “Remixed” entail? Shakes. Cones. Pumpkin EVERYWHERE. To put it simply, DQ is now serving the Blizzard in waffle cones and transforming it into Pumpkin Pie Royal Shakes. Could our pumpkin dreams get any sweeter? No, no they really couldn’t.

If you want to get your Pumpkin Pie Remixed on, you have until Thanksgiving to snag these treats.

Dairy Queen’s August Blizzard is A Triple-Berry-Brownie Threat

Chocolate covered strawberries. Chocolate covered raspberries. Chocolate covered blackberries? We’ve never had the last one, which is why we’re super excited to try Dairy Queen’s Blizzard of the month: The Tripleberry Brownie.  The newest addition to the Blizzard family boasts strawberry, raspberry, and blackberry purées, blended with classic vanilla soft serve and stuffed with brownie and chocolate chunks.

While it may not beat fresh picked berries from the berry-patch, it sure as hell beats going to the berry patch in the first place.  We’re more than ready to trade brambles, bug bites, and lots and lots of sweat for a cool frozen treat in our hands.  So let’s raise a blizzard to new summer traditions, ones that are decidedly lazier, but likely just as delicious.

The Tripleberry Brownie Blizzard is available throughout the month, in four different sizes and as a Blizzard Cake.

Gimme S’more: Dairy Queen’s Featured Blizzard for June is a ‘Campfire in a Cup’

As awesome as s’mores are, we all have got to admit they’re pretty f*cking annoying. Whenever you make one, you’re either dropping the chocolate, not toasting the marshmallow enough, fighting not to choke on smoke or getting sand in your eyes. Bottom line: It ain’t pretty. Luckily we have Dairy Queen’s new featured Blizzard for the month of June, the S’mores Blizzard, to take all the “oh great” out of the Great Outdoors.

Made of vanilla soft serve covered with graham crackers and rich chocolate chunks filled with marshmallow fluff, the S’mores Blizzard Treat is being touted as a “campfire in a cup” – and rightly so. It used to be you needed a warm fire, good company and bright stars to have a good time. But now you can enjoy all the fun of summer from the comfort of your twitter feed. Win.
