Auntie Anne’s Adds Cheese-Stuffed Pretzel Nuggets To Menu

Sometimes, trying to juggle an entire pretzel and dunking it in cheese sauce can be overwhelming. Good thing we live in a time where everything comes stuffed and bite-sized.

Auntie Anne’s is set to release new Cheddar Stuffed Pretzel Nuggets. Made with the chain’s signature pretzel dough, the miniature bites are filled with melted cheddar cheese and salted. No longer will you have to tear apart your pretzel until it’s a reasonable size for dunking.

The pretzel nuggets will hit participating Auntie Anne’s locations Monday, May 18 and will be available for a limited time through December. Patrons can find them for about $4.99 an order.

[FIRST LOOK] Trader Joe’s Has Bite-Sized Speculoos Cookie Butter Cheesecakes

Speculoos Cookie Butter has quickly become one of the most synonymous brands to Trader Joe’s. Seasonally, Speculoos releases a Cookie Butter Cheesecake made by a bakery in Chicago, packaged and distributed to Trader Joe’s stores. Now, it looks like we’re getting smaller bites for those who can’t commit to a full cheesecake.

They’re called, and it’s a mouthful, Trader Joe’s Speculoos Cookie Butter Cheesecake Bites.

The bites are made with slow-cultured cream cheese, Belgian gingerbread cookie crust and sweet cream from cows untreated with rBST hormones. They’re cut into 12 bite-sized pieces and packaged for convenient snacking.

When we heard these were hitting stores, our first instinct was to head to the Trader Joe’s site to see if they looked any good. Unfortunately, Trader Joe’s usually doesn’t go too deep into product shots outside of packaging. Luckily, we had some time to run to our local store and pick some up.

At $4.49 for a package of 12, the bites can be found in the freezer aisle of your local Trader Joe’s. No word yet on whether this will be seasonal, like its predecessor, or is here to stay permanently.

Now if you’ll excuse us, we’re going to grab some cheesecake and finish this season of House of Cards before someone spoils the ending.

KFC Russia Serves Up Teriyaki Chicken with Chopsticks

If you’re ever visiting Russia and you have a hankering for some good teriyaki chicken, you don’t have to make a trip down to Japan. Rather, KFC Russia is now offering a variety of teriyaki chicken-based items. Also, they’ll come with chopsticks!

The newly inducted items include the Teriyaki Ricebox and Teriyaki Bites. It might seem a bit odd eating teriyaki chicken with a plastic spork, which is why KFC offers chopsticks to accompany the two Japanese-inspired menu items. The bites are made with your regular KFC crispy (we’re guessing boneless) chicken breast chunks. They’re then covered and tossed in a teriyaki sauce and sesame seeds.

Fans of a lighter alternative can find the Teriyaki Bites in a Twister wrap or salad as well. The bites will be available at all participating KFC Russia locations.

This BLT Does the Unthinkable, Swaps Bread for Juicy, Seared Scallop

Don’t get me wrong, I love bread.  I think bread is one of the greatest foods ever (besides bacon,of course).  When I was little, I would tell my parents that if I ever went to jail, and was given one thing to eat, I would be very happy if it was warm sourdough bread with salted butter.  Apparently I was both very morbid and optimistic.

But there’s nothing wrong with a little imagination, especially when it leads to a sandwich with scallops for bread.  You’ve got all the bacon-y goodness of a BLT, crisp lettuce and tomato, maybe some aioli, placed in a perfect bite between two thick juicy scallops.  Finally, it’s a delicious way to serve BLT’s as hors d’oeuvres, make use of fresh summer seafood, and even have some portion control.  As for me, I’ll be eating these with a side of warm sourdough bread and butter outside and absolutely not in jail.  You can find a link to the recipe at Bite-Sized, as well as some mouthwatering photos.

Craving: Banana Split Mini Bites

Banana Split Mini Bites Foodbeast

It’s the middle of the afternoon on a Friday, and my sweet tooth is calling. And it didn’t help that I ran into this post from Bakers Royale. No crazy recipe, just simple directions. Yes, there is real ice cream under that maraschino cherry and whipped cream. And yes, those are rainbow sprinkles.

Thanks to Naomi for the grubs and photo!

Apple-Coconut Bites

These Apple-Coconut Bites are made of grated red apples, orange zest and juice, almonds, coconut flakes and ground cinnamon. Take a moment and imagine those flavors floating around in your mouth. Each bite comes with a crispy exterior contrasted with a soft and chewy apple interior. Count me in for about 42 of ’em! (Recipe @ DietHood)

Peppermint Cheesecake Oreo Bites

Trying to separate yourself from the countless douche bags that are gifting their girlfriends a box of chocolate this Valentine’s Day? Try to be original and bake her something sweet, preferably these  Peppermint Cheesecake Oreo Bites which will definitely hit a warm spot with her (maybe a different spot too, if you know what I’m sayin’!). These cheesecake bites start off with an Oreo based crust which will house a mixture of peppermint cheesecake topping. I think I’m going to replicate these but cut them into little bite sized hearts. If you are trying to make these this Valentine’s Day, make sure to stop by Baking Junkie for the play-by-play and impress your significant others!
