Balsamic Sweet Onion Jam

If you’re looking to spice up your jam game, then this sweet onion jam prepared by the family-owned Braswell’s food company may be up your alley. This Balsamic Sweet Onion Jam is prepared in small batches out of Georgia’s Vidalia onion country, utilizing the flavors of balsamic vinegar and dark brown sugar.
The balsamic vinegar used is from Modena, Italy and the dark brown pure cane sugar and Vidalia sweet onions from Toombs County, Georgia. Works well as an appetizer beside some cheese and crackers, as a top for cream cheese, or as a unique glaze for grilled poultry, pork and seafood. Packaged in a reusable 11 oz. glass tumbler advertised to double for serving juice.
The ingredients include cane sugar, onion, balsamic vinegar, dark brown sugar, citric acid, pectin, salt, dehydrated garlic and onions and pepper. ($9 @ Williams-Sonoma)

Craving: Chewbaca Bars

I bet you with Valentine’s Day coming up, if you’re into celebrating that stuff, this little homemade endeavor might just end up getting you some play that night. What’s a Chewbaca Bar? It’s a creation of Miss Selma Lee, who also has more detailed pictures and instructions on her website if you’re so inclined to learn more. We’re looking at thick slices of bacon candied with maple syrup, balsamic vinegar and brown sugar, then dipped in chocolate and layered with homemade marshmallows, dusted on one side with cocoa powder and cut up into cute little bars.

Craving: Steak Panini

Ever wonder what you should do with that little extra piece of steak, that you just don’t want to toss out. Well you could make steak panini’s! Take leftover thin sliced steak, slap it on some roasted garlic bread. Add onion, balsamic vinegar, olive oil, crumbled blue cheese and gruyere cheese and you will come out with this masterpiece. I was in the mood for pizza but now I’m going to find a sandwich place that can make this happen for me. (Thx Good-life-eats)

Scanwich: Roast Beef

Graham Avenue Meat & Deli with: Homemade Roast Beef, Cheddar, Lettuce, Tomato, Spicy Oil, Balsamic Vinegar, Garlic Powder and Pepper, Mayo, on an italian hero. Sounds incredible. (Thx Scanwiches)

Craving: Goat Cheese Greens Tart

A rich ricotta cheese accented with currant pine nut relish, egg yolk, olive oil, creme fraiche, salt, pepper, sauteed onions, chopped parsley and reduced balsamic vinegar. A little on the bourgeois side of my cravings, but every now and then, it’s time to feel a little spunky. Eat on! (Thx LisaIsCooking)
