This Restaurant Reimagines ‘French Onion Soup’ As A Mouthwatering Burger

French onion is hands-down one of our favorite soups of all time. The dish is made typically from a beef stock and an onion base. The soup is topped with a giant crouton or a slice of bread and finished with a topping of gruyere cheese.

Imagine a world where the intense flavors of the onion-based broth were incorporated into another savory dish: the hamburger.

The Stand, a newly opened fast casual restaurant in Irvine, CA, does a pretty unique take on the classic French dish. Patrons can order the French Onion Soup Burger which features a hefty beef patty, a double parmesan crusted bun, gruyere cheese, red wine braised onions, and crispy onion strings.

After a traditional French Onion soup is made, the onions are removed, strained, and placed on the assembled burger with crispy onions as a contrast. The soup itself is served on the side as an au jus-like dip to enjoy your burger with.

Kind of a brilliant way to have you soup and eat it, too.

You can find the burger at the Stand located on 5633 Alton Pkwy, Irvine, CA.

Vietnamese Restaurant Combines French Dips With Pho In Best Way Possible

A restaurant in Santa Ana, CA, is doing a pretty unique take on the classic French Dip. Sit Low Pho, found in the 4th Street Market is selling a Vietnamese-inspired dip.

While the original is made with a roast beef in a French baguette and served with an au jus dip. This version consists of a few more ingredients.

The Pho French Dip Banh Mi features angus brisket, bean sprouts, Thai basil, onions, scallions, cilantro, jalapeños and a hoisin sriracha sauce. It’s served with some pho broth, in place of the au jus, that you can dip your sandwich into.

If you’re a fan of Pho-inspired dishes, this is definitely something you’ll want to check out.

A French Dip Thickburger Is in Testing Stages at Carl’s Jr.

Looks like Carl’s Jr. is claiming a stake in the French Dip game. According to Brand Eating, a Carl’s Jr. location in Stevenson Ranch, Calif., is testing a new Thickburger dubbed the French Dip.

The French Dip Thickburger is made with roast beef that’s thinly sliced, a charbroiled 1/2 pound beef patty, horseradish sauce and a slice of Swiss cheese. It’s squeezed between two of Carl’s fresh-baked buns and served with an au jus dipping sauce. The French Dip will join the existing Memphis BBQ Burger and Philly Cheesesteak Burger if successful.

Carl’s aficionados may remember a similar French Dip item at Hardee’s back in 2009. It looks like the Carl’s variation may be a slightly updated version.

A Look at Slater’s 50/50 Pulled Pork Burger

Southern California-based burger chain Slater’s 50/50 has announced their June burger of the month, arguably not a burger, but tested and delicious all the same: The Pulled Pork.

The sandwich features slow cooked pulled pork, soaked in Au Jus, topped with cole slaw and the restaurant’s house-made mustard sauce, all of which on a bed of blue cheese grits.

The Pulled Pork sandwich will be available throughout the month of June, and we had the opportunity to try it over the weekend, and it definitely comes recommended. There will be plenty of sandwich residue for you to scoop up with your order of sweet potato fries, so go hungry!

Craving: The Hat – Chili Cheese Fries

In an attempt to start up something new on the site, I’m going to start posting foods that I am craving. Here is a perfect example, because I suddenly just had a huge urge to go get chili cheese fries from The Hat. Since I don’t want to drive to Brea, I’ll just sit here and dream about how good they are.
