Kiva Introduces 24K Gold Coated Edibles for St. Patrick’s Day

With St. Patrick’s Day around the corner, it’s time to devise your plots for celebration. As usual, there will be drink specials and parades galore, but the cultural shift of marijuana legalization brings new avenues of festivity for people to partake in.

St. Patrick’s Day is the greenest day of the year and it’s about to get even greener. Green beer and cocktails are an expected element of the night, but now there’s an alternative form of indulgence at the end of the rainbow. Kiva Confections is launching a limited edition Pot O’ Gold Peppermint Pattie Terra Bite edible for the occasion.

Each soft peppermint fondant bite is covered with rich dark chocolate and coated with edible 24K gold, of course; how could it be St. Patrick’s Day without a glimmer of gold? These edibles are crafted with California cold water hash and said to contain 5MG of THC per piece.

These golden bites will be the first truly St. Patrick’s Day themed edible on the market. Could this be the beginning of a new holiday themed trend? Only time will tell. For now, it is always recommended to dose with caution as Kiva built its reputation on potent and tasty edibles. Beginning March 4th, Californians will be able to order their own Pot O’ Gold via the Eaze delivery app.

You Can Now Get Bougie SPAM Musubis Wrapped In Edible Gold

Gold-topped desserts have been pretty popular this past year, with gold-covered ice cream, apples, and chocolate all going viral. One SF food truck is getting in on the golden food trend with their own take: A $100 Gold SPAM® Musubi.

Created by the 808 Poke Shack for SPAM Restaurant Month, this fancy SPAM musubi has flecks of gold on both the inside and outside. The sushi rice is mixed with honey, rice vinegar, and gold furikake flakes, joining a caramelized slab of SPAM that’s marinated in a miso teriyaki sauce for 24 hours.

The two are then wrapped together with both nori sheets and edible gold leaf to give the musubi a unique sheen.

This is a more pricey musubi than ones you can normally buy, as one of these gold-wrapped eats will set you back $100. But hey, when else can you say that you’ve eaten a golden SPAM® musubi?

808 Poke Truck will have the $100 musubi available for the entire month of August as part of SPAM® Restaurant Month, where several other unique SPAM®-centric items will be debuting at restaurants across the nation.

‘Zillion Dollar’ Grilled Cheese Comes with Foie Gras, 24K Gold Flaked Wisconsin Cheddar

grilledcheese

We can’t presume to know why the 1% do anything they do. Once the houses and boats and kids’ private preschools and spare Lambos have been paid off, maybe they really don’t have anything better to do with their money than shit gold.

It’d certainly explain this obnoxiously plush grilled cheese sandwich. New at the deca restaurant at The Ritz Carlton Chicago, the ‘Zillion Dollar’ Grilled Cheese actually just costs $100, which is kind of a steal when you consider what goes into the damn thing. Let’s count: thinly sliced Iberico ham made from free-roaming, acorn-eating Spanish pigs. Artisan sourdough bread. 40 year aged, 24K gold flaked Wisconsin cheddar. Hudson Valley foie gras, white truffle aioli, and a sunny-side-up duck egg.

Lest that price tag still make your blue blood a little thin, the ‘wich also comes with a side skillet of lobster macaroni and cheese. Available until the end of April for National Grilled Cheese Month.
