McDonald’s McPick 2 Menu To Feature Big Macs, McNuggets And More

About a month ago, McDonald’s came out with a promotion called the McPick 2, in which customers could choose any two items from a very specific menu of four items and only pay $2 for them. Well, some changes have been made to this deal after a tumultuous past month for the company, and frankly, they’re very welcome.

When the promotion first came out, the only things that were available on the menu were a McDouble, a McChicken, a small order of fries and mozzarella sticks.

The mozzarella sticks in particular were an interesting option, since at the time they were a brand new item altogether, although several problems began arising from them, including a baffling lack of the snack’s main ingredient: cheese.

After the 5 week test run, McDonald’s has decided to change the deal up, but in a good way. Now known as the “McPick 2 For $5” deal, the upgraded version of the promotion brings along some of McDonald’s best items for the ride, including but not limited to: the Big Mac, McChicken Nuggets, Quarter Pounder, and the Filet-O-Fish.

I previously wrote about the 2 for 2 menu and how much it sucked. This, however, is definitely a step in the McRight direction.

A Ham Sold for $2 Million at the State Fair, No Really

Two-Million-Dollar-Ham

A decent market ham will set you back about 60 bucks. A showcase ham can go for hundreds or thousands. However, a plump piece of pork sold recently for $2 million at the Kentucky State Fair. No, it wasn’t lined with jewels.

Country hams are typically dry-cured. This means that moisture is drawn out of the meat until at least 18 percent of the water is lost, and usually as much as 20 to 25 percent. The hams must be aged from six months to a full year before they are ready to eat.

Every year at the Kentucky Fair, Miss Kentucky walks around the room showcasing the ham for potential buyers.

The winners of the auction were Hermitage Farm LLC and Republic Bank. Possibly because the two competing bidders were so close, the $2 million will be divided among the two parties and donated the money to their choice of charities. In a 50-year tradition, proceeds from the ham auctions at the state fair typically went towards some form of charity or cause. So essentially a charity auction.

The Kentucky State Fair has been known for setting ham-based records, however. On average, a cured ham sells for almost half a million dollars at the fair, which is also incredibly impressive. No clue why this year’s ham was more appealing than the previous years’. Hey, as long as it’s for charity, right?

Jamba Juice Offers $2 Smoothies Every Morning This Week, Knows You Won’t Wake Up For Them Anyway

jamba

You told yourself this summer would be different, didn’t you? You’d wake up with the sun and give up coffee and take your dogs on morning hikes, all before breakfast. And hey, if this deal had come out around early July, you probably would have taken advantage of it, at least for a few days. But no, it’s August, so feel free to just turn over and go back to sleep.

Apparently Jamba Juice is offering any 16-ounce smoothie for only $2 between the hours of 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. all this week, starting Monday August 12 through Friday August 16, at all participating locations, no coupon necessary. Which, you know, would be awesome, if you didn’t spend last week in Vegas and weren’t expending all your precious energy just to wake up in time for work without looking like a total homeless person. Come on JJ, don’t you know “summer mornings” don’t start until at least noon?

Just kidding, you’re a big kid now and you’ll probably be at work by then. But wasn’t it nice pretending you still had the luxury of sleeping in? Oh, the good old days.
