Apparently the mashup of mozzarella cheese and peaches is becoming a bit of a craze in Japan right now. It seems to be a twist on peaches and creme, as peaches, mozzarella cheese, olive oil, balsamic vinegar (or white wine vinegar), salt and pepper are mixed together to make this popular snack.
Now, the craze seems to be affecting store shelves as Nabisco just released mozzarella- and peach-flavored Ritz Bits Sandwiches.
Rocket News 24 said the Ritz Bits distributed Tuesday will be available in the Japanese convenience store chain, Family Mart. The snacks will be sold at a pretty affordable price; a bag of the tiny sandwiches only costs 106 yen, about $0.90 in US currency.
Now, instead of having to cut up and create the mozzarella and peach dish from scratch, Japanese foodies who have gravitated toward this trend can now buy a snack pack for less than a dollar.
Japan seems to know what it’s doing when it comes to food, so mozzarella and peach together sound pretty tempting.
