The ‘World’s Most Dangerous Ice Cream’ Is Made With Fiery Carolina Reapers

Sure, you can take your beau out to a fancy dinner and date night for Valentine’s Day, like most people will do. Or, you could brave a new challenge together and take on the world’s “most dangerous ice cream.”

Aldwych Cafe and Ice Cream Parlor in Glasgow, Scotland is offering up the fiery sweet treat. They utilize blistering hot Carolina Reaper peppers — one of the spiciest chilies in the world — to make the ice cream. Called the Respiro Del Diavolo (“Breath of the Devil”), it’s so potent that you have to be 18 or older to try it and must sign a waiver acknowledging that the dessert could kill you.

Just how fiery is the Respiro Del Diavolo, you ask? On the Scoville heat unit scale, it clocks in at just under 1.6 million, making it over 600 times hotter than a jalapeno. A bite of this is even more painful than eating a raw ghost chili. Ouch.

Unlike most challenges, Aldwych’s offering is the same price as all of their regular ice creams in store. Thus, you won’t be breaking the bank to see if you can brave the world’s most dangerous ice cream. When it comes to tears and sweat, however, quite a few of those will appear when you sample this dessert.

The ice cream will be available through Valentine’s Day for an unspecified amount of time.
