Japanese ‘Instant-Boyfriend’ and ‘Girlfriend’ Curry Pouches Are Alarmingly Affectionate

Maybe 2014 is the year we all fall in live with things we aren’t supposed to, from our Scarlett Johannsson-voiced operating systems, to our… curry?

Spotted by the folks over at Japanese blogging site Rocket News 24, “Retort Boyfriend” and “Retort Girlfriend” curry is the oddly named instant curry product with different anime characters pictured on the box, each based on the flavor of the sauce you choose, and each with his or her own personality type and character bio.

This, for example, is Vegetable Curry, the “Sweet” one. He says, “Your hands are working too hard… let me protect them. If we go on like this… I could eat you right down to your fingers.”

And this is the female Chicken Curry, who says, “Welcome home! Dinner’s almost ready! Get ready to eat… so, when you’re finished what do you want to do together?”

All in all, really sweet lines anyone would probably love to hear from their significant other. From our dinners though? Sorry curry, I kinda just wanna be friends.
