31 Honest Food Brand Slogans That Are Incredibly Accurate

lays-honest

While your beloved food brands hold a soft, greasy spot in your heart, they all have their shortcomings. (Surprise!) That seemingly bountiful bag of chips? 50 percent air, guaranteed. Those multicolored fruit loops? They’re all the same flavor. Wanting to highlight these disappointing little truths, graphic designer Clif Dickens created Honest Slogans — a project that replaces original slogans with something a tad more… real.

The tongue-in-cheek quips are delightfully accurate. The simplicity in each faux slogan brings it home, stripping away food brands’ consumer-friendly facades and offering a humorous look at world of honest advertising.

I would hardly consider Trader Joe’s to be the “poor man’s” Whole Foods. While you can find bargains at TJ’s, some things can be quite expensive.

PS – I use my Altoids tin to carry two kinds of pain relievers, LOL

Yet another “designer” who skims through meme websites and claims things as their own. So many of these are mirrored copies (albeit slight variations) of already existing graphics.

If you would kindly direct me to where you think I copied these from, I would be more than obliged to confirm my creating each individual one of these. Would you like me to show you the PSD, AI and EPS design files I have that I used to create these? I can also share with you my journals where I wrote most of these down as I planned them for the site.

I understand you assuming these came from somewhere else, but please check resources before making rash assumptions about a designer. Also, you can see this Reddit thread where a user posted a ton of my Honest Slogans and later apologized. You can see my top comment for sourcing as well.

Let me know if you have any questions and I will be happy to confirm with you anything you need to assure you that I made these.

Cheers,
Clif

The reason potato chip bags have so much nitrogen in them is that it helps keeps the chips fresh and acts as padding so you don’t get a bag full of crumbs.

S/he is right though? Oxygen makes potatoes spoil and makes the oil (to fry the chips) go rancid. Plus air has moisture in it, which leads to soggy chips.

Hahaha. The bread comment about Subway is sooo true.
True story: A friend of mine owns a Subway franchise and their little roll-around cooler / prep table gave up the ghost after years of service so he gave it to me to use in my garage. I kid you not, for several YEARS after I got it, every time the cooler was opened it smelled like Subway which was not entirely unpleasant.

Some of these are perfect and the world would be better if the products used them instead of the ad lie.

I had a bored minute, so . . .

Apple: Think Expensive
McDonald’s: I’m Gainin’ Weight
WalMart: Always Low Wages
AT&T: Rethink Terrible
Bank of America: Life’s Better When We’re Regulated

Haha. Not sure why you have a vendetta against me, but hope you’re having a good time all the same.

Also, you spelled my name wrong. Sometimes all it takes is attention to detail and thoroughness to be passionate about what one pursues. Just have fun, be good to people, and worry less about the petty things. Life is a wonderful thing, you shouldn’t spend it being negative.

Cheers,
Clif

Hey Clif, these are awesome. I almost didn’t post my lame attempts because I knew they weren’t up to the quality of what you’ve done. But I wanted to join the spirit of what you did. Really exceptional work in an area that others have tread before. You’ve made it your own.
