Earth Friendly Chocolate is Coming From the Creators Of M&M’s and Snickers

In collaboration with Perfect Day, the world’s first animal-free dairy protein producer, Mars, the creators of some of the world’s most famous and delicious candy like Snickers and M&Ms, has developed an animal free, earth friendly and lactose free chocolate called CO2COA.

The name has me stuck right now, though. It’s a play on the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions (CO2) and Alliance-Certified cocoa. So when you say the name, I think you just call it “cocoa” and maybe not “CO-2-CO-UH” like I did?

Even though it doesn’t have lactose (or cholesterol, while we’re on it), Mars is promising that silky smooth chocolate we’re all familiar with. The packaging itself is too nice for it not to taste good anyways.

The Mars company has a much wider goal for this move that goes beyond just providing a lactose free option for their consumers.

“CO2COA is another example of how Mars continues to think and act differently to help create the world we want tomorrow,” said Alastair Child, Chief Sustainability Officer, Mars Wrigley. “From certified cocoa and a reduction in CO2 emissions to animal-free dairy, CO2COA was thoughtfully designed as we work to achieve net zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across Mars’ full value chain by 2050.”

This is just another one of Mars’ steps to reduce GHG emissions across the company with paper packaging on German candy bars such as Ballisto or recycling guides on Orbit gum, and even announcing that Mars bars sold in the UK, Ireland and Canada will be certified as carbon neutral by 2023 — just one year from now.

The CO2COA bar is available online today while supplies last.

Help reduce green house gasses while eating delicious chocolate as a reward for it? It’s a win-win.

Waffle Crisp Cereal is Back

It’s been four long years since Waffle Crisp blessed cereal aisles and breakfast tables, having been discontinued by Post in 2018. It had a good 22 year run after it’s debut back in 1996 — until fans just couldn’t accept that run ending.

After plenty of fan feedback and fervor, Post Consumer Brands heeded the public outcry for Waffle Crisp’s return and will be relaunching the cereal in July in both Regular Size (11.5oz) and Family Size (20oz).

Great news, really, because I look forward to turning back the clock some by tucking into a bowl of Waffle Crisp while watching an episode of Gargoyles and bumping DMX.

KIND Snacks Announces Year-Round KIND PRIDE Bars Along With Continued Support For LGBTQ+ Youth

Photo: KIND Snacks

June is Pride Month, a time to recognize and honor the historical contributions of LGBTQ+ individuals worldwide. Continuing their support of LGBTQ+ communities this month and beyond, KIND is now offering KIND PRIDE bars all year long.

The bars are made with creamy milk chocolate, hearty peanuts and are topped with a chocolate and peanut butter drizzle. The packaging dons the symbolically significant rainbow colors of LGBTQ+ pride.

To help raise awareness and advocacy, KIND is donating $125,000 to New York City’s Ali Forney Center, the nation’s largest non-profit organization aiding homeless LGBTQ+ youth. $25,000 of the donation will go specifically to helping LGBTQ+ youth in Florida. A staggering and disheartening fact is that 40% of America’s 4.2 million homeless youth identify as LGBTQ+.

The partnership between KIND and Ali Forney Center is going five years strong with plans to continue providing vital support to homeless LGBTQ+ youth. KIND PRIDE bars can be found locally or ordered online.

This Pop-Tart Supports the LGBTQ+ Community

To kick off Pride Month, for the first time Pop-Tarts is teaming up with a queer illustrator and NEON-GLAAD to collab on their first pride product ever.

The “Neon Pink Block Party Lemonade” Pop-Tarts showcase Thaddeus Coates’s cheerful designs not only on the box but also on the frosting of the toaster pastries — also a first for the brand. Thaddeus Coates explains that the designs are “inspired by a summer block party — a celebration of a community that doesn’t prioritize fitting in over living authentically.”

Thaddeus Coates is a Graphic Design student at FIT as well as an independent artist. He has a passion for clean and thought provoking design with beautiful and bright aesthetics. His goal is to utilize his gift of design to revolutionize and further inspire and show that “art is a present with a presence.”

Each weekend of Pride Month ( June), 450 boxes of the “Neon Pink Block Party” Pop-Tarts will be released for purchase via Instagram for $5. Your purchase will support and publicize for these four BIPOC LGBTQ+ associations:

The Salt Eaters Book Shop – an independent bookshop in Inglewood, CA

Destination Tomorrow – a grassroots agency in Atlanta , GA

Nobody’s Darling – a queer and POC-owned bar in Chicago, IL

Bronx Book Festival/The Bronx Is Reading – a social impact organization in New York

Each of the four organizations above will acquire a $10k grant in relation to box sales to further benefit their missions of fostering inclusive communities. Pop-Tarts will also be donating $100k to GLAAD to progress their work in growing recognition for the LGBTQ+ and BIPOC communities.

Cinnamon Toast Crunch Rolls Cereal Drops This Month

Cinnamon Toast Crunch has an amazing line of products available, from coffee creamers, cakes, breakfast bars, Cinnamon Toast Crunch Churro cereal and a ton more. They just keep getting better and in their latest edition, Cinnamon Toast Crunch Rolls Cereal is no different. With it, you get that classic Cinnamon Toast Crunch taste that perfectly blends cinnamon and sugar now in the fun shape of a cinnamon roll.

The shape of the cereal actually matters, too. Remember when Trix changed from the fruit shapes to the circles and then changed them back? There’s just something about those shapes that really made Trix stand out. Wouldn’t be surprised if this had the same effect on the Cinnamon Toast Crunch brand, especially when you don’t get cinnamon roll-based cereal really… ever.

Cinnamon Toast Crunch Rolls Cereal is now available nationwide at your favorite grocery store in both mid-size and family size.
