XBox, Hookers, and $30,000 worth of Junk Food

I’m not gonna lie, I can’t seem to figure out whether this story is true or not, but this might be the coolest kid in the world. His name is Ralph Hardy, a 13 year old boy from Texas who ordered an extra credit card from his father’s account and took his friends on a $30,000 spending spree.

Allegedy Ralph got a motel room for him and his friends and ordered bountiful amounts of Fritos, Dr. Pepper, and Oreos. Upon seeing the boys’ ages, the delivery man became skeptical, but Ralph smoothly explained that they were simply celebrating their recent victory in a “World of Warcraft” Tournament! And to top it off, he asked the man where they could score some women, and that they were willing to pay! He then ordered two $1000 a night hooker, and instead of trying to you-know…(rhymes with duck), they kids ended up playing Halo 3 on the XBox 360 gaming console that Ralph had purchased earlier with his father’s credit card

I know it sounds like a hoax, but it’s all over Google! Check out this report. I don’t care if it’s fake, this kid is boss!

How would you spend $30,000 on food? E-mail us your answers!

I would fly in my own sushi chef from Japan. Gnarly.

it's love, it's love! it's lalalalala it's love!

Good morning everyone! Heineken has rolled out with this catchy new commercial promoting their Premium Light Beer, encouraging people to “Share the Good.” Check it out:

Go ahead. Watch it again. You know you want to. I watched it three times before I could pry myself away from YouTube to write this post. Bloggers all over the globe must be having a field day analyzing the themes and concepts in this commerical. My analysis? It’s sweet to do cool things for other people. And free beer? I’m down!

If you’re having a bad day, just go out for some good eats and sing the jingle in your head. You know  you memorized it already! Good luck focusing during that manager’s meeting or British literature class today while “it’s love! it’s lalalala it’s love!” is looping in your head.

P.S. Let me save you some time. The song’s called “It’s Love” by Chris Knox. No need to thank me 🙂

Peace out, and don’t forget to share the good!

do you like free food?

Hi everyone! Hope everyone had an awesome day. Foodbeast would like to share some excellent news with ya’ll. Tomorrow, May 15th, fast food mogul McDonald’s and snack king Dunkin’ Donuts are giving back to the people, free of charge!

That’s right, tomorrow McDonald’s will be giving away free samples of their new “Southern Style” sandwiches with the purchase of any medium or large drink. They are hoping to create some hype for their new expanded chicken menu, and I think this is a pretty gnarly way of doing that!

If coffee is your thing, go into any Dunkin’ Donuts tomorrow from 10 AM to 10 PM and they will hook it up with a free small 16 oz original or flavored ice coffee! Apparently they are the biggest seller of iced coffee in the country and sold 190 million servings of iced coffee last year. Ridiculous!

This is such an awesome idea. Hopefully these two chains start a trend and soon enough we’ll be seeing free food on every corner. You tryin’ to sell me a burger? Well I’m not even coming inside the restaurant until I got some fries and a Coke!

Call me crazy, but giving out food for free-ninety-nine appeals to me a lot more than seeing even the best commercial or trendy billboard. I mean free food? That’s the ticket to my heart as a consumer. Putting that common sense to use baby. Major kudos to the marketing teams at McDonald’s and Dunkin’ Donuts.

Please go show some love to McDonald’s and Dunkin’ Donuts tomorrow and they are gonna give it right back at no charge.

Until next time friends, keep loving and keep eating (for free!)

Man vs. Burger at In & Out

Today was a beautiful day! After a few days of uncharacteristic overcast, the sun is shining bright. Even though class put me to sleep like usual, it was nice to stroll around the UC Irvine campus and enjoy the weather. It’s also a sweet day for Foodbeast, cause I get to write about something hilarious! We challenged my friend to eat a 16×16 at In & Out Burger. That’s 16 meat patties, 16 slices of cheese, a ridiculous amount of spread, tomatoes, onions, lettuce, and ketchup between two buns. It may sound tasty, but trust, it’s pretty nasty on the eyes. Check it out!

This is Chris. He’s a monster eater, and is pretty confident he can put down a 16×16. Foodbeast wanted to put him to the test. Turns out In & Out doesn’t serve anything larger than 4×4 anymore, so we had to do it real nasty and order a 4×4 and a bunch of “Flying Dutchmans” (burger lingo for just meat and cheese) and assemble it ourselves. Just that much more fun for me hahaha!

Assembly Required.

Christmas came early this year!

Ready, Set, Go!

The first bite…

Eight minutes later…

The home stretch. Crazy thing was, Chris was still feeling great at this point! We joked that we should have ordered him some fries. I think he would have been down.

Worth every cent baby.

By the time we got back to our apartments, Chris had a glazed over look on his face, though he said he felt perfectly fine! I guess that just shows how delicious In & Out Burger is. No jokes. One of the best burgers and atmospheres to eat and hang out.

And everyone knows the price is nice. Not to mentions the shakes. If you haven’t, try a “Neopolitan” Shake. It’s Strawberry, Vanilla, and Chocolate all mixed together. I’m stopping there though, because In & Out deserves it’s own post. It’s a science. Stay tuned for that!

Chris is the man. The next morning we saw him pop out of a car with a platter of fried rice!

If you haven’t had In & Out, you gotta come to the West Coast, it’s amazing. If you don’t know anyone, I’ll meet you there!

Thanks for reading! Until next time dudes, Love, peace, and food.

What’s up friends! First off, Happy Mother’s Day to all. I love you Mom! Hope everyone is having a good day, and hopefully the Laker’s can pull it out in Utah today! Gotta shut down Carlos Boozer, who’s probably a Foodbeast at heart. Here’s Carlos eyeing some chicken. Right now the Lakers are down 33-42, so hopefully they fight back and get a win!

In anticipation of Lakers-Jazz Game 2, my roommates and I stepped out for some Japanese food to get our day started on the right foot. We chose one of our favorite spots in the area, “Sushiplantation.” It’s tucked away in Mission Viejo, at 28261 Marguerite Parkway. Instead of chirpin’ about it, I’ll let them tell you how they get down:

“We take pride in offering you the freshest and most exotic selections of fish available. Our fish is hand-selected EVERY DAY from the local market to ensure the highest quality selection for you to choose from. Come join us in a friendly and warm atmosphere and experience our one-of-a-kind specialty rolls.”

I gotta say, Sushiplantation speaks truth. We’ve frequented this place several times, and each time we had an awesome sushi experience. It’s a very small place, with 8 tables and a bar at most. Service is great and the atmosphere is first class. No matter where you sit, you’re close enough to personally deliver your next order to the sushi chef without raising your voice, and if that isn’t your style, the friendly waitresses cater to your needs. The walkways are tiny are the walls are covered with everything from street signs to collages of happy customers to old collectible cameras. It all makes for a very intimate and comfortable dining experience. Enough beastin’ about the environment though, let’s check out the food!

Sexy Girl: Shrimp tempura and jalapeno inside, wrapped with fresh mango on the outside and topped with sweet and spicy sauce; along with crunchy flakes, masago, and green onions. ($11.90)

Southbound to San Diego: Cream cheese and shrimp tempura inside, all deep fried then dressed with sesame seeds and teriyaki sauce. ($11.90)

This was called the “Don’t Ask Me How.” No joke, that’s what it said on the menu. Seriously, don’t ask me. I don’t have the slightest idea what it is or how it was made, maybe except for that the middle is green. And that it was crazy delicious. I laughed when I saw it, until I had a bite. Took me about two minutes to polish off the rest. It’s not on the regular menu, I saw it on the happy hour menu and my stomach is happy I did. Try ordering that anywhere else! ($7.00)

Sunrise on Avery Parkway: Spicy shrimp and crab with avocado inside, wrapped with tuna on the outside, topped with chef’s special sauce. ($11.90)

A masterpiece, in a my humble Foodbeast opinion.

If those delectable pictures didn’t getcha, then the fact that water is served in buckets will. Me and Mang sure bought into it. Makes you feel like a ninja.

Happy Hour is Monday-Saturday from 2:30-5:00. They have a handful of rolls that are only $7.00, and all beer and hot sake is 1/2 price! Eat great, get lazy, and save money?

Sushiplantation is Nice.

Until next time friends, keep loving and keep eating.

Golden Spoon

I feel that the posts on this blog between Reggie and I are going to start showcasing their differences very soon. I seem to gravitate to the healthier eateries, and Reggie seems to enjoy the dining experiences of everything else. I guess that’s just the way the cards fall, sorry in advance if my writings end up incredibly boring in comparison! When in doubt with anything in life, blame resident Food Beast Mang. Regardless, at least once a week I need to get my fill of frozen yogurt…and tonight, I needed to dabble with some Pistachio / Fudge Brownie mix at Golden Spoon (Irvine Spectrum).

This ain’t Yogurt Land, you’re not allowed to touch the toppings yourself. Just tell homegirl behind the glass what you need, she’ll make it happen. It’s their job to fill the cup to the brim with yogurt, and they do it with an unparalleled professionalism. I’ll save the hype regarding Yogurt Land for another post, I’ll take a professionally served cup of quality yogurt any day. To top it off, right outside the Irvine Spectrum G-Spoon location is a nice ferris wheel. I like to grab myself a yogurt concoction and grab a seat for the half hour ride with my girl, and call it a pleasant Saturday night.

Until next time, stay up and stay fat!

Mother's Day

Yo. I’m a pretty forgetful dude, and last minute operations are my area of expertise. So with Mother’s Day (This Sunday) coming up fast, here are a couple of gift ideas that can definitely be accomplished within the next few days and will surely make Mom smile. This is the FoodBeast Fave 5 Mother’s Day Gift Ideas. And of course they all have to do with food.

#5 Cooking Magazines

If Mom loves to whip up that down home cooking, show her how much you care with a subscription to a food magazine like Cooking Light or Food and Wine.

#4 Edible Fruit Bouquet

I’ve never ordered one of these, but I think I might try this soon. These are so awesome! They look great, and probably smell great. And unlike flowers, you won’t get sick if you eat a whole bouquet. Check them out!

#3 Tea or Coffee Set

This one definitely seems random, but if your Mom is a tea or coffee drinker, then a set with some nice exotics teas or coffee beans will surely do the trick. There is something comforting and relaxing about sharing a cup of joe or freshly brewed pot of tea. Just make sure you share a cup with Mom and she’ll love this gift even more. Give them a look here.

#2 A Homecooked Meal

Right here, it’s all about the effort baby. If your Mom has a favorite and you think you can pull it off, then go for it! Just Google a recipe and roll up your sleeves. And if you aren’t so adventurous, stick to the simple classics like French Toast, Grilled Cheese or an Ice Cream Sundae. Round it out with some drink and a dessert, and you got a winner. Just make sure you make it with lots of love and don’t burn down the kitchen.

#1 Chocolate Dipped Strawberries

This is classic right here. My girlfriend Ione goes nuts over these. I get them at the “Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory” Something about chocolate that makes the ladies lose their minds (you know what i’m sayyyinnn!) So pick up a box or make some yourself to show Mom how much you care. And if you’re lucky she’ll let you have some. Maybe.

Whatever you end up doing, just remember to show your Mom and the other amazing women in your life that you care. May 11, mark it down. And don’t forget, a handwritten note is one of the coolest and most underrated gifts since forever.

“If women didn’t exist, all the money in the world would have no meaning.”
-Aristotle Onassis

Well said dude. Take care guys, keep loving and keep eating.

The Veggie Grill

A trendy forefront, a green pallet of paint found decorating the walls, and cute females ringing up your order. This is the imagery set forth by The Veggie Grill in the heart of UC Irvine’s University Center. Accompanied by Reginald and Mang, we tried to venture out of our carnivorous eating habits and try something trendy and (supposedly) healthy.

Deciding to eat light this afternoon, we settled on a couple burgers, and a couple orders of Sweetheart Chili Fries. Neither of which were prepared with any sort of meat product, yet, had I not took note of the name of the establishment, I would have never known any different. Oh yeah, the sweet potato fries…they really make you want to slap your mother, definitely give them a try!
