HUF Skateboarding’s Latest Collection Is An Exclusive Burger Tribute To Popeye

Many fondly remember Popeye the Sailor cartoon by the hero’s favorite snack to get brolic on his foes — spinach. In an unlikely tribute to the sailor with a penchant for greens, HUF recently dropped a capsule collection centered around him and other characters of the cartoon. Additionally, the collection was treated to an exclusive burger from Los Angeles burger haven, The Golden State, to help promote it.

Dubbed ‘The Wimpy Burger’ in honor of Wimpy, the burger-mooching character, it’s delectably built with grilled onions, bacon bits, and creamed spinach as a nod to Popeye, all on top of a brioche bun. Peep the juicy deets above to understand the full magnitude of just how munch-worthy this burger is and then go to both  Los Angeles-area locations of The Golden State and thank me later.

As for the clothing collection, expect the same polished street-inspired skate apparel from HUF, as it’s highlighted by socks, a beanie, button-up shirt, and hoodie, amongst others, all emblazoned with Popeye iconography and characters such as Olive Oil and Wimpy. Check out some images of the collection below and consider these jawnz as your spinach to flex on folks.

As the synergetic relationship between food and fashion (namely streetwear) becomes even more pronounced, so do the significant projects that come to fruition as a result. An excellent example of such would be Heineken beer’s #Heineken100 program. Taking heavy cues from workwear, the elevated interpretations of the “Green Collar” collection meet at the intersection of function and style. The results are six pieces, including a tiger camo chore coat, hoodie with dramatic, zippered side vents, and a pair of limited-edition Keds sneakers.

Coca-Cola’s Latest Luggage Collaboration Furthers Trend Of Food and Fashion

Fast food companies have been taking the fashion industry by a storm as of late. Just this year alone, Taco Bell collaborated with Forever 21 to create some fashionable foodie wear, and KFC has been creating surprisingly stylish and exclusive drops for their online store.

Long gone are the days of fast food companies just slapping their logo on a plain white shirt and calling it a day. The food industry has started investing a lot of time, money, and effort into creating new, fashionable merchandise because, believe it or not, they actually sell really, really well.

So why does foodie fashion work? Exclusivity may be the name of the game, causing everyone to want to get their hands on a limited piece to show off on the ‘gram. Or it may be it’s because consumers have realized that food and fashion are a major part of their lifestyle, and they want to be more expressive about that.

Nevertheless, the trend of fashionable foodie items is still peaking, and it sure isn’t planning on halting anytime soon.

Now, Coca-Cola has recently teamed up with HEX, a renowned fashion accessory brand, to create innovative laptop and sneaker bags with the iconic “Enjoy Coca-Cola” logo on them. And I must say… they look pretty damn good.

Feast your eyes on the collection, which will surely be the next big thing for those who love food and some swag with functionality:

The Sneaker Sling: $70

The Sneaker Backpack: $160

The Sneaker Duffel: $170
